  1. Awesome! Another internet tough guy! Regarding Nance, nowhere in my post did I equate "potential" with "height." I said he had the most potential compared to Denney, Wilson, and Smith, and I'm basing that opinion on much more than height alone. Denney is just as tall, so why didn't I rate him as high as Nance? And yes, I've seen Nance play. A few of my relatives are big Steeler fans, and so I've seen some college ball tapes of Ben R. (w/Nance) with them around the time Ben was drafted. Maybe I'm not the expert you are on him... As for Wilson, every rookie in the NFL plays special teams during the preseason. And every college player has played special teams in college. And most backup WR's get assigned to special teams play...doesn't prove anything, and it doesn't mean they're particularly good at it. Wilson obviously wasn't good enough at it to demand a roster spot for the full 2005 season. And that's my point. Aiken and Parrish (and maybe Smith) can secure roster spots on special teams play alone; Wilson can't, going by last year's play. PS: Keep this abrasive schit going. I'm enjoying your meltdown and soon-to-follow boot from the board...
  2. Nice cheapshot remark in the middle of your post . The bankruptcy situation had everything to do with our former owner, and nothing to do with the quality of the fanbase. You knew that, and are just being a dick. What's more disturbing, though, is how much you love to bash the city of Buffalo, the fanbase of Buffalo, and then at the end of your post refer to the Bills as your team . Your time here is done, Panthers troll. Go leave this board for good.
  3. This thread is why I love Two Bills Drive. Such emotion over an undrafted rookie free agent! Although I could do without the strange obsession over the "avian race." Now onto the topic at hand, we have 10 WR's currently on the roster. I expect us to keep 6, with a 7th relegated to the practice squad. Who we keep: 1. Lee Evans - the closest thing we have to a #1 WR, though I'd like to see him improve more on his route-running skills in the middle of the field. 2. Andre' Davis - I seem to be among the few around these parts who is really high on this guy's potential. I think he'll fit in perfectly with the agressive, vertical style of offense the Bills plan on implementing this season. He just needs to stay healthy... 3. Peerless Price - a similar type of receiver as Davis, just slightly smaller but more experienced. Another of this downfield receiver type is needed for the new Rams-style offense. 4. Josh Reed - despite all the hate he receives around here, the fact of the matter is that he's the best blocking WR on this team and one of the few who can actually run some underneath routes worth a damn. For these reasons alone, he makes the team. He is what he is. If he wasn't drafted 36th overall, no one would be complaining so much about his production. 5. Roscoe Parrish - will make the team on return abilities alone. His speed, agility, and unique size will provide for the interesting occasional mismatch on offense (and...<shudders>....gadget play), but for the most part he's a special teamer. 6. Sam Aiken - experienced special team gunner, with the hope that he may still eventually develop into a nice red-zone clutch target. Who we cut: 7. Jonathan Smith - I don't see him as ever being a threat on offense (note to "Fast Freddie" - don't call yourself that if you run a 40-yd dash in the 4.7 range). His only hope is on return duty, but I think Parrish is going to clearly surpass him in this department by August. 8. George Wilson - isn't fast and doesn't play special teams. His only chance is to play the "Chrebet" role, which Reed plays. Reed beat him out last preseason. Expect the same again this preseason. 9. Chris Denney - is tall and has good hands. That's about it. Can't run routes worth schit. Can get downfield about as quickly as Bennie Anderson could. We've already met our quota of 1 subpar Denney (thanks to our Mormon friend on D). Who goes to practice squad: 10. Martin Nance - took me a while, but I finally got to him! Compared to the other WR's I have down as being cut, Nance has the most potential. But all in all, he wasn't drafted for a reason. Some will claim he wasn't drafted because of his small college, the injury history, the poor combine performance, etc... IMO, it had nothing to do with the college or injuries, and very little with the combine performance. I think the scouts looked at the tapes and saw a guy who just didn't perform as well against the better cornerbacks he did face. He tends to be too slow to get off the line of scrimmage (a death wish for an NFL WR), doesn't run the best routes, doesn't increase separation from the DB's very well, and certainly isn't "fast" by NFL WR standards. I won't take the absolutist position our good friend LaDairis has taken; many of Nance's problems have more to do with inexperience, inattention to detail, and maybe poor college coaching than with a lack of raw physical talent. But just going by the statistical odds, guys like Nance aren't given as much time to learn on the job as are day 1 draft picks. His success depends largely on his ability to pick up the nuances of football in a short amount of time (unless Levauron is unusually patient by NFL standards).
  4. Well done, my friend! Well done!
  5. I was hoping for a link . I thought maybe it came from one of those "Who has the hottest soccer fans?" websites which I've googled, but to no avail.
  6. That would be something else if Ghana won today! Being Italian-American, I'm kind of rooting for both the US and Italy to advance, with Italy finishing second. For this ridiculous scenario to unfold, I need the Czech to lose their next 2 games and the US to win theirs. PS: Can you explain your avatar to me, Meazza?
  7. There are only 4-5 TD players I'm confident will still be on the team in 2 seasons: Moorman, Evans, Schobel, McGee, and hopefully Spikes (praying for a complete recovery). If the Bills were to win a Super Bowl in the next few years, TD will be thanked as much as Polian's GM predecessors were thanked for the 90's Super Bowl run - i.e., hardly at all.
  8. Yes, for those of you whose sarcasm detectors have been jammed during this thread, Pyrite Gal = Fake Fat Sunny, but this name came from Coach Meathead and not TD. Mike Mularkey, initials M.M., aka M and M, aka Eminem, aka Real Slim Shady, aka Fake Fat Sunny. Before FFS there was Barry Brady, named after Coach Gregg Williams (some sort of Brady Bunch reference I don't remember). Before Barry Brady there were a couple of others...Bum's Son, Yvel Vram? Can't remember, anymore. Pyrite Gal is, in fact, male. He's a damn good poster, if you are up for a novella of sorts.
  9. When reading some of Ms. Pyrite's most recent posts, have you noticed that she mentions a lot about the importance of not having sex with Willis McGahee? Could Ms. Pyrite be one of Willie's many jaded baby mommas? example another
  10. 30 billion viewers, eh? Aren't there only 6.5 billion people on earth? Yeah, I'll watch and will be rooting for the US. But honestly, it's hard to get that excited for a team that will likely be facing a quick exit from the tournament. And by the way, this should be in the off-topic board. Your LAMP attempt and shameless soccer plug did not amuse me this morning.
  11. I know. It seems like just yesterday I was arguing against Bledsoe and TD from the womb. Thank you for all the thoughtful b-day wishes, everyone! I ended up having a fun day. Oops, I just shat in my diapers. Gotta go.
  12. Hockey? Please. "Caniacs" have more important things to do with their leisure time, like watching cars constantly turn left or hunting down Ned Beatty in the woods.
  13. Not since 1983!? Oh, the pain! The pain of it all! Philadelphia, the so-called city of "brotherly love," has some of the biggest scumbag fans in the world. Their "curse" can be attributed to bad karma. If they don't win a championship for the next 100 years, it will be well-deserved.
  14. Don't blame Jillson. Blame the Hockey Gods. If they weren't so !@#$ing vengeful, they never would have taken Kalinin, Numminen, and Tallinder away from us at the same time - and Jillson would have never had to step into an NHL rink again.
  15. You should read this. In particular, read the excerpt where it says McGahee is the only vet who has yet to attend a single spring practice.
  16. Hate to sound like your typical negative Buffalonian, but this series seems like its already over. Losing 3 of your top defensemen is ludicrous, but being shut out at home for 4 straight periods? Carolina now owns the Sabres physically and mentally.
  17. We could potentially get Mair, Connolly, and Numminen all back by Friday night. That'll get our boys pumped up for Game 4!
  18. My bad, although my comment was more of a broader reference to the TBD threads in the recent past that have considered Drew's HOF status. Of course, I never made that clear.
  19. I think the NBA is more popular because basketball is a much cheaper and much more accessible sport for kids to play than hockey. As for ESPN, maybe they hate hockey because of the Whalers leaving? Otherwise I agree with you completely. Hockey is superior to basketball.
  20. The NBA sucks because they allowed our Braves to move to LA (through SD). Tomorrow night, every Buffalonian should be rooting for the Suns to beat the Clippers...right after the Sabres-Canes game!
  21. I've been anti-Drew since the beginning of the 2004 season (I can't tell if you are being sarcastic, ajzepp ).
  22. I'll state right now that I think we had a solid draft, a solid offseason given what was available, and will have a bright future ahead with Levauron in command (I have no reason to believe otherwise, at the moment). However, I think we're all kidding ourselves if we expect this team to suddenly have a Sabres-like 2006 season. Salisbury is right - Levauron were handed a mess of a roster (thanks Tom). It will probably take 2 full years to get back to the playoff-competitive status not seen since 1999. I challenge your optimism for the WR's, TE's, and defense. At WR: we just lost Moulds and are now facing the possibility of an inexperienced Evans-Reed #1-#2 combo...all I'll say is that Davis and/or Price better work out. At TE: Royal was a mediocre player in Washington, Everett is always injured, Euhus sucks, and Cieslak hasn't proven himself yet against first-string NFL D's. At defense: my biggest concern is along the DL. The LB's and DB's - with a healthy Spikes - are good enough to rank top 10, but I don't see us stopping the run with Anderson or rushing the passer with Kelsay (Schobel and Tripplett are OK with me). I also see you omitted optimism for the OL, which - while better - is still among the worst in the NFL. According to most depth charts, all we've done is replace Anderson and Teague with Reyes and Fowler. This reminds me a lot of seasons past, where the marginal additions of Gandy, Anderson, an aging Villarial, Panos, etc... were enough to convince fans that the OL was set. Note to Marv: draft some linemen with your 2007 day one picks.
  23. Exactly. Many of the HOF greats had teammates who are also in the HOF. Should we now start discrediting each one of them in our desperate effort to elevate Drew's candidacy? Tom Brady = Super Bowl with 2001 Patriots roster Tom Brady = HOF caliber Drew Bledsoe = failure to make playoffs with nearly identical 2000 Patriots roster Drew Bledsoe = Vinny Testaverde End communication.
  24. A record that is beyond pathetic and should (but won't) end all the "Bledsoe in the HOF" talk immediately.
