Israel ready to Re-Enter Gaza Strip
Typical TBD Guy replied to UConn James's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I'm actually hoping Iran gets dragged into this. Might give us and Israel a good excuse to finally go demolish Iran's ongoing nuke program, which is BY FAR the most dangerous situation currently in the Middle East. -
All of you OL experts out there
Typical TBD Guy replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Posts 4, 15, 16, and 20 nailed it (IMO). I was once just like you, eball. From the mid-90's up until 2005, I had the same delusions of OL grandeur every preseason. Such expectations only make the reality of the season that much more painful. Gandy is a decent journeyman LT, and nothing more. I suspect you'll come to realize this by December after the additions of Reyes and Fowler yield only marginal improvement on the left side of the line. -
Jags to Cut Mike Williams
Typical TBD Guy replied to JimBob2232's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nobody partied like Jim Kelly, either. Quite frankly, I don't care what these guys do in their private life provided it isn't bad enough that it gets them suspended for games. Fact of the matter is that McKinnie is still starting - at LEFT tackle. Tom "The Genius" Donahoe drafted an overweight RIGHT tackle with the fourth overall pick. McKinnie was the safe pick, but when did "The Genius" ever play it safe with our draft picks? -

Comments by Thurman about the Bills
Typical TBD Guy replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It appears so! . Hmm, I guess there's no restriction on NFL owners, then? Or maybe the league considers this ownership OK because Portland can be considered Seattle's football territory? -
Comments by Thurman about the Bills
Typical TBD Guy replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not true. An NFL owner is allowed to own another pro sports team as long as that team is located in the same city. Also, I think the Bills may be a bit too expensive for any one regional owner - even for Golisano. Most likely, Golisano would need 1-2 co-owners to complete the purchase. And if Golisano still has NYS political aspirations, I hope he realizes that buying the Bills will be the single best campaign investment he could possibly make. As for Thurman's comments, I appreciate his concern for the team and for WNY, but he is certainly no expert on this subject. If TT does somehow have some sort of inside info on Ralph's intentions or health, I wish he'd try to convince Ralph to sell the team NOW to Golisano, Wegman, etc. The sooner this happens, the better off the Bills will be - off the field AND on it. -
Maria Sharapova cameltoe alert!

What a great thread! I just had to contribute. -
I just went to the espn website, and on the front page was Beckham - with his frost-tipped hair - hugging some teammate with a first name of Ashley, both of whom had these goofy, effeminate smiles on their faces. As soon as I saw this, I thought to myself, "oh man, if Alaska Darin ever sees this picture..."

Most overated football statistic

The most overrated football statistic is the one that claims Robbery Johnson was a pretty good QB. -
Paris Hilton playing home wrecker

Paris is back? Must have been some tremendous bowel movement for Mr. Slave. Just when people start to stop talking about her, there she goes again banging her way back in the news. -

Salary Cap Update 6/23/06
Typical TBD Guy replied to clumping platelets's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Almost $12 million under...can we use that space to front-load new contracts for Fletcher and Clements? Or has Ralph now chosen the small-market, Golisano approach? -
Obviously, the GDP has nothing to do with it. Soccer is one of the cheapest sports to play, which explains its broad international popularity. What's truly embarrasing is that, given our enormous population size, we can't find a couple dozen players who can play worth a damn.

Peter King giving Old Whitey a rimjahb

Along with Cards, Texans (past 4 years), Lions, and Saints. Stellar company, eh? E-mail that to Peter Pan King. -
Congratulations to the Carolina Hurricanes
Typical TBD Guy replied to Alaska Darin's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Looking on the bright side, this just made the Sabres season a little bit more special. We lost in game 7 to the Stanley Cup champs only after suffering the most unlikely string of injuries. Our Sabres got some much-needed playoff experience this year. Next year...we make our move.... -
Peter King giving Old Whitey a rimjahb
Typical TBD Guy replied to mary owen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, I was just thinking, next year how is Peter King going to spin TD's 2002 draft grade? Two things King didn't mention about that 2001 draft: 1. No players of any significance were drafted by him in the second day of that draft (which was a trend with TD. To date, McGee is the only one out of 25 day 2 picks who's starting in the NFL). 2. Schobel and Jennings were good picks, but were also the last players TD drafted on either side of the line who were worth a damn (unless you think Anderson, Kelsay, and Preston will develop into something)...kinda explains why he's no longer here. -
The Logjam Ahead of Martin Nance
Typical TBD Guy replied to JDG's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
OK, so here's what I think a "traditional" roster amounts to (one that employs a standard pro set and 4-3 formation): 1 K 1 P 3 QB 3 RB 2 FB 5 WR 3 TE 10 OL 9 DL 7 LB 9 DB And, of course, 7 of these players (not including the 3rd-string emergency QB) don't suit up on any Sunday. Usually it's the 9th DL, 7th LB, 9th DB, 9th and 10th OL, and 2 more depending on the injury and game circumstances. How did our roster deviate from this last year? This varied throughout the season, but I'm pretty sure we started out with 1 long snapper, 2 extra WR's, 1 less DL, 1 less DB, and 1 less OL. So what's my point? That the coaching staff last year thought that protecting Wilson as a 7th WR was worth more than protecting the 9th DL or 9th DB or 10th OL - all of whom would have been inactive every Sunday, anyway. In other words, the talent and potential of the 9th DL or 9th DB or 10th OL wasn't as good as Wilson's. So that's my explanation for why the Great White Satan/Coach Meathead went loco and decided to keep 7 WR's (plus, again, the Parrish injury). Doesn't mean they thought Wilson was some amazing talent, just that they thought he was a better talent than McFarland or Jefferson or Rob Lee or what have you... Does this make sense to anyone? -
The Logjam Ahead of Martin Nance
Typical TBD Guy replied to JDG's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Or it simply testifies to the lack of depth we had at other positions last season. The Parrish injury situation was a factor, but maybe Wilson was just the best of the marginal talent left competing for a roster spot? I guess Wilson as a 7th WR was much better than whomever was competing for the 4th DE spot? PS: Nice to see a good thread move back towards civility. In the future, when someone's facts are incorrect, correct them and move on. Don't have a mental breakdown over it. This is directed primarily towards my new internet pal, LaDairis, in case he hasn't yet been banned. -
The Logjam Ahead of Martin Nance
Typical TBD Guy replied to JDG's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What a strange system of morals you have. So no one should insult George Wilson (by "insult" I assume criticize football ability since I don't think anyone here has attacked his character, personality, intelligence, etc...). However, Martin Nance is more than fair game, as is every other member of this message board . The scary thing is, that by calling Wilson "kid," we can all assume you're an adult? Because I've never heard a teenager or younger person call an older adult a "kid." LaDairis an adult...!@#$ing scary. With your personality and communication skills, you must be perenially unemployed. And single, because I can't imagine any woman putting up with your schit. -
The Logjam Ahead of Martin Nance
Typical TBD Guy replied to JDG's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Stop being a dick. You know what I meant when I said "all rookies play special teams." And yes, Wilson was on the roster all year...but why was he inactive for virtually the entire time? Could it be that he's not as good as you claim him to be? Is he perhaps not the ST guru April cannot live without? And your insinuation that I've lied about my Steeler fan relatives.... . Not only do you claim to know everything about obscure college WR's, you claim to know my family too! Wow, you're a diligent amateur scout! You not only scout the players in your free time, but you attempt to scout the families of the fans of the players! Kudos! Honestly, I don't know what your deal is. Did Nance play with your private parts when you were little? Did your pet parrot not call for help, but just sat and stared as you were repeatedly violated by Nance? Is this why you hate parrots so much? Did George Wilson run off to try and get help for you, and this is why you love Mr. Wilson so much? Too bad for you, Wilson - like he is today - was too slow to flag down the nearby police car, and too short so they wouldn't have seen him anyway. Your childhood trauma aside, here's what I predicted for our WR corps: Evans, Davis, Price, Reed, Parrish, Aiken make the team Nance makes the PS Wilson, Denney, Smith cut Just curious, what of the above don't you agree with?
