Ralph wants O-line improved
Typical TBD Guy replied to MadBuffaloDisease's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And it only took him a decade and a half to figure this one out . Actions speak louder than words. Let's see how this plays out, but my best guess is that we are $20 million under the cap by June with a re-signed Mike Gandy and a 5th round RG as our major OL acquisitions. Only a Golisano or a Wegman can save the Bills from this tightwad abomination of an owner. -
When ya got no running game, ya got no game
Typical TBD Guy replied to Buffalo Mike1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know it was the Ravens McGahee was playing against, but that was just an awful performance all around. He wasn't just terrible at running; he was missing lots of backfield blocks, too, that were killing the passing game. Meanwhile, Travis is tearing it up in Tennyland, and like Tiki Barber, successfully fixed his early-career running mechanics that were making him a fumbler. If it wasn't for that idiot GM's need to grab headlines from his ESPN buddies, we could have kept Travis and used that 2003 1st rounder on something more boring like, say, an offensive lineman? Ah right, I forgot that Henry was attracted to girls 4 years younger than him that said they were only 1 year younger than him...oh the humanity! -
Both Gandy and Preston need to be demoted in the offseason. No question about that. And Willis and Drew Rosenhaus can go stick their contract talks up each other's !@#$s. Willis is painfuly mediocre as an NFL RB, and is about as un-clutch as it gets when not playing the Jets. Another example of the "genius" that was Teflon Tom.

WTF is going on with us overly sensitive Bills fans? The slightest criticism of JP and we get all our panties in a knot? I've heard these announcers say lots of positive things about JP too.

Yes, football is definitely a more popular overall sport than hockey in the United States...no doubt about that. But the world?! Most people in the world don't even know what American football is, let alone who won the Super Bowl; rugby has more international popularity than American football. And hockey is a very popular sport in most of Europe. Hockey is played in the Olympics; American football is not. Just curious, if hockey is a "3rd tier sport" as you say, what constitutes the 2nd tier to you? And how are you defining what sport belongs in what tier? Also, I don't understand how you can say pro football players are superior athletes to pro hockey players...apples and oranges. What's your definition of superior athleticism? Physical strength? Speed? Stamina? Agility? Some ideal combination of these categories? The vast majority of NFL players probably have better upper body strength and better track speed and agility (for the skill positions only), but I bet your average non-goalie NHL player has way better lower body strength and heart stamina than any pro football player at any position. I also don't think you really know much about hockey...and you clearly haven't played it before at a legitimate organized level. It is a very physically demanding sport, just slightly below wrestling, boxing, and mid-distance track running in terms of preparation at equivalent skill levels (junior, amateur, pro, etc...). Your comment about hockey players not lasting a minute in pro football, BTW, is simply retarded. I'm sure marathon runners, cyclists, basketball players, etc.. couldn't last a minute in the NFL either...what's your point? Could a big fat pro offensive guard play left wing in the NHL? Lots of pro hockey players tend to have the same body fat percentages as the pro football skill position players (8-10%), and many hockey defensemen (for example) approach the sizes of LB'ers...so some might actually be able to compete at the NFL if they had started playing football since childhood. One final note regarding the popularity of the two leagues among WNYers: in as little as half a decade from now, the NFL will be going the way of MLB in terms of the big market haves vs. small market have-nots. Once Ralph Wilson dies, the Bills are pretty much as good as gone from Buffalo (like 90% probability ). The most significant remaining pro sport team in Western NY will be the Sabres, who now play in a very competitive league with a salary cap structure similar to the NFL of the 90's. Golisano currently has the Sabres at the cap limit and competing for the President's Trophy/Stanley Cup. Wilson, meanwhile, will have $40 million in salary cap space and yet still expects to replace guys like Nate Clements with guys like Ashton Youboty . BOTTOM LINE: if and when the Sabres win their first Stanley Cup, Buffalo's alleged reputation as a hockey town will become permanent and inarguable. Expect the Bills, meanwhile, to continue fumbling and bumbling and generally finding new ways to not make the playoffs up until the Snyders and Jerry J a$$clowns force them out of WNY.

Losman must be kicking himself. If he was on a big-market team like Dallas producing the same as he's been in Buffalo, he'd probably be having similar success. I don't even think he has enough national attention yet to land any member of the Skank Triad (Britney, Paris, Lohan). Well.....

Should be a killer Sabres game tonight!!

Plus he got his first point of the season (assist)!!! Is it too late to send him to the All-Star game with Rory? Oh yeah, and cuck the Faps. -
This Might Be An Unpopular Stance, But I Hope
Typical TBD Guy replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The backups can wait until preseason IMO. Overall, we still have a very young and inexperienced group of starters trying to find their way in a new offensive and defensive system. I'd much rather see how these starters respond to last week's embarrassment against a legit Super Bowl contender. Besides, if someone important breaks a leg or something, they'll have all offseason to heal . Though one thing I'll agree with you on, Bill, is that Merz and/or Butler should get extensive action in this game...mainly because I've grown tired of Preston and would prefer to see some new looks at RG. -
A successful year!
Typical TBD Guy replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
True. Then again, we said the same thing after the late season chokes in 2002 and 2004 . -
Merry Christmas Tom Golisano
Typical TBD Guy replied to stevestojan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I hope Ralph's Christmas gift for Tom this year is the Buffalo Bills. -
I'm not quite sure that's correct. If the Broncos beat the Bengals, we don't necessarily win the tiebreaker over the Bengals. It would depend on how the Bengals do against the Steelers week 17 and their strength of schedule if they win that game. Also, to clarify for everyone 1 final time: If you think the Fins WILL NOT beat the Jets Monday night, root for the BENGALS. If you think the Fins WILL beat the Jets Monday night, root for the BRONCOS. (So basically, it's a subjective call...me personally, I'm rooting for the Bengals because I think the Fins' December swoon is already in full force.)

Anybody catch PTI tonight??
Typical TBD Guy replied to USMCBillsFan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
The Nichols punch wasn't made to be as big a deal because: 1. The NBA is a much more popular/nationalized league than the NHL, so you can expect ESPN and their ilk to highlight pro basketball's problems with a much larger magnifying glass. BTW, when was the last time Wilbon or Cornholer analyzed a big hockey match? (Crickets chirping). So I guess they only talk about hockey when it serves to make their favored sports not look as bad? 2. Hockey is by nature a very physical, very high-speed sport that more easily enables dangerous hits and cheap shots to "accidentally" occur. That is why enforcers are needed to keep everyone on the ice in line...thus, fighting has become a necessary part of the game that - oddly enough - actually makes the game safer for the players. The Nichols cheap shot was just that: a cheap shot. Nevertheless, the fact that fighting and violence is a part of hockey makes Nichols' actions less conspicuous. Basketball, on the other hand, is a no-contact sport. So ANY contact on the court becomes MORE conspicuous. Just my opinion... EDIT: Yeah, pretty much what AD said below. -
Trump to Rosie-"better hold on to your girlfriend"
Typical TBD Guy replied to Lurker's topic in Off the Wall Archives
No, I'm not a Donald fan after that. The adult thing to do would have been to quietly ignore Rosie's mindless rants. Instead, Donald Trump chose the more childish route by blasting her physical appearance and her sexual orientation, among other things. -
Stop crying, get off your arse, and go buy some fugging tickets.

Coy Wire-MVP against Tennesse?
Typical TBD Guy replied to tennesseeboy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Interesting idea, but why not just have Whitner play that role instead of Wire? Might as well leave our best 11 on the field. I like Ko and wouldn't want to take him off the field for a 4th LB. The more speed on the field, the better... -
I think so

Ravens won't be resting for Week 17
Typical TBD Guy replied to Typical TBD Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fugging fantastic. Nice job, Ozy! I messed up with (5)...forgetting that we can still have Jax beat NE as long as they lose to KC. These scenarios are starting to get a bit ridiculous. I'd still rather see Jax taken care of in Week 16. I think I'm going to take this one day at a time before determining allegiances. Next up: Indy over Cincy tomorrow night, which I believe is a unanimously desired pick regardless of the particular playoff scenario. -
...and it is impossible for the Ravens to enter the final week fixed in at any of the playoff seeds. Unless the Ravens are completely indifferent to a situation where they can have only the 3rd or 4th seed, it looks like the Bills will be facing their last 2 regular season opponents at full strength. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but unfortunately I don't think I am. Either way, playing the backups is never a guaranteed win either (2004, Week 17).

I'm bumping this because I'd like to see someone fully explain the tiebreakers situation and where we stand compared to the other AFC teams in that regard.... However, I'll try my best to summarize it right: Assuming the Chiefs go on to lose tonight's game (it's currently a 14-3 SD lead at the half), I think we will "only" need to worry about 4 other teams: Jets, Bengals, Broncos, and Jags. And since the Bengals and Broncos play each other next week (guaranteeing 1 of them a wild card spot over us), we will need all of the following to occur in order to get the other wild card spot: A. Bills win last 2 games B. Jets lose to Miami next Sunday C. Jags lose 1 of their next 2 games I feel good about the Jags losing to either NE next week or KC in Arrowhead. And if Miami can beat the Jets on Christmas, then we control our own destiny! However, if Miami's December swoon is already in full gear, then our season is over

Re-sign Gandy. Sign Cards' Leonard Davis for starting RG. Draft another tackle for depth. Then we're solid on OL....finally.

Update: Blacked Out
Typical TBD Guy replied to Buford T. Justice's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't want to be in the AFC North, even if it were still possible to do so. The proximity of Cleveland, Pitt, and Cincy would work against us...in the fact that many more Bills fans will be squeezed out of tickets for both the away games AND our own home games...since those other cities have noticeably larger populations. I also think the contrasts between our division rival cities are what make the rivalries more fun. I don't have the same hate for the other Rust Belt, blue collar kind of cities as I do for the more "elitist" NYC, Boston, and especially Miami (do two cities get any more different than Buffalo and Miami?). Watch the Bills get better on the field with some consistency, and watch the renewed division rivalries and sell-outs follow... -
What Do The Sabres Need To Win it All?
Typical TBD Guy replied to jimmy_from_north_buffalo's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Honestly, no. I think this team already has the talent to win the Cup - this year as well as for many years thereafter. The only thing standing in our way are injuries or just plain bad luck on the ice...and I can't imagine any kind of trade that can provide the type of virtual Cup guarantee I'd expect in exchange for having to lose players of a Vanek or Max or Miller caliber. Also, I think team chemistry is way more important in team sports than is given credit. A pro roster is more than just a sum of interchangeable parts...ask the Redskins or Rangers about this. Bottom line: the Sabres have championship-level chemistry...we've seen it in so many of their close wins and OT wins this season and last. Unless we're talking about trading a Stafford or a Lydman, I say stick with what we've already got...and hope Connolly returns for the playoffs .
