  1. Thanks, BlueFire. The first link is pretty interesting. A lot can/will change between now and November, but as of this moment it looks like the Dems are rallying behind the wrong candidate .
  2. Here's a website to guide you: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/polit...ctoral-college/ My prediction has McCain beating Obama 274-264. I essentially took the 2004 election results and then had New Hampshire, Colorado, and Iowa switching sides. What's yours?
  3. Bleh. A couple of libertarian poseurs desperate for attention . Root for Root!!! Wayne Allyn Root '08!!!
  4. A special thanks to Bill Polian for keeping our Bills off that list.
  5. Seriously? You're complaining about rising gas prices and the rich getting richer, but then exercise the fiscal judgement to throw out your hard earned money for a pair of fun bags that some other dude will probably be enjoying 5-10 years from now? Way to prioritize, my friend . Those evil rich guys are usually smart enough to know that the money comes before the women...not after. See: Scarface, the movie.
  6. The Buffalonian in me says we'll find a way to screw this one up, but I've got to admit that Mike Accursi has got me feeling all warm and tingly inside. To date, that has been THE trade of the season. Fez, it's time to get back on board the Bandits bandwagon. Minnesota is your place of residence; WNY is your home. Don't ever forget that!
  7. Bottom line is that Americans like being the best in the world. For our pro sports leagues, we like to know we're watching the best in the world. If and when the MLS rises in competitiveness, coupled with a US World Cup victory, the public attitude will start to change about soccer. The recent surge in Mexican immigrants may be the catalyst to make all this happen. And for those ripping on soccer because it's boring to watch, how do you explain the popularity of baseball? By the way, I can't believe no one mentioned LACROSSE as a sport on the rise???
  8. What was the point of this stupid !@#$ing thread? For one thing, the OP failed to provide a link to the article being discussed. For another, there's no new information being revealed on this tired subject. It's just yet another journalist with an opinion. We see these threads pop up every now and then with no other intention beyond getting people hysterical. And for the usual suspects always claiming that the Bills moving to Toronto is a done deal (PromoTheOverweightRobot, Apusslawski, etc.), explain away these following points: 1. How Toronto will get the funding for an NFL-caliber stadium? 2. How Rogers and Co. can overcome the CFL and the Canadian government who are likely to once again get in the way of permanent NFL expansion into their country? 3. How Rogers and Co. will outbid the combined Kelly/Kemp ownership group when you factor in the relocation fee? 4. How Goodell will allow the Bills to leave NY state without the risk of Sen. Schumer pulling the NFL's anti-trust privileges in retaliation?
  9. How can you know if Jesus would have been considered a liberal? His basic philosophy was that we should help out those less fortunate. I don't believe he ever really elaborated on the specifics of HOW those less fortunate should be helped...i.e., the classic argument of using the public means of the state (the liberal argument) or the private means of the individual (the conservative argument). In my opinion, the conservative argument is much stronger. The Robin Hood moral question has already been mentioned in this thread. Plus, the evidence is pretty overwhelming where private charitable organizations end up helping the poor, sick, stupid etc... much more than the government (Katrina relief, public schools, Dept. of VA health care, etc.).
  10. Well done, Stojan! Well done! Steely Dan: I know they just recently found the body of a missing college student in upstate New York. Could it be related to these Smiley Face douchebags? He was found in a shallow pond and came from Minnesota, so it might be related to the other cases. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,353439,00.html
  11. According to Kiper, only the Texans, Titans, and Jags drafted worse than us.
  12. 14 years. Up until this season, the K-hawks had made the playoffs in every year of their existence. Minnesota has a 1-11 lifetime record vs. Buffalo, including playoffs. At this point, Minnesota's struggles with us are more psychological than strategic.
  13. Bandits clinched home field throughout, are virtually 100% healthy (not counting Greenhalgh), and are a collective 7-2 against all other playoff teams. This may be our best roster since 1996. We're effing stacked: Tavares, Steenhuis, Accursi, Bucktooth, Powless, Dostie, McCready, Smith, Kilgour, White, etc... Only a deceased president can stop us now! Note to fellow Bandits fans: game starts this Friday night, 7:30pm, HSBC, vs. Philly. Buy tickets ASAP because I think this one will be sold out by mid-week.
  14. Anyone have more info on his right shoulder injury? I don't know about this pick. Our last 3rd round VTech DE with character issues didn't work out so well (Corey Moore, 2000 draft).
  15. But you can find a pro team in Toronto, northern Ohio, western PA, and NYC for lots of different sports leagues. The "problem" is that Buffalonians, by and large, like their contact sports: football in the fall, hockey in the winter, lacrosse in the spring. They also realize that baseball has the same entertainment value as watching soccer or golf. If it wasn't for baseball's historical tradition, no one in modern American society would still be talking about this lame sport. Back on topic: bottom line is that the Sabres will continue to receive more local media attention than the Bills for as long as the Bills continue to imitate the NFL success of the Lions or Cardinals. Eight consecutive seasons without a playoff berth and twelve without a playoff victory....that's a colossal embarrasment by any measure.
  16. Vincent Corleone (Andy Garcia), Godfather 3 Derek (Ed Norton), American History X Frank (Dennis Hopper), Blue Velvet Matilda (Natalie Portman), The Professional Mona Lisa Vito (Marisa Tomei), My Cousin Vinny
  17. Wow. Get rid of Hecht? Keep Kalinin and Max? Dennis a top prospect? And then you have the audacity to rip Oneonta Buffalo Fan on his post? I thought OBF did a pretty good job of summarizing the state of the Sabres. My only complaints: 1. Bernier normally plays RW, not LW 2. Hecht is more of a natural fit at LW than C 3. Paetsch and Mair are what they are - inexpensive role players who will probably be kept in the name of team chemistry 4. Miller is still a good goalie. The defensemen around him sucked, and he was simply fatigued...he set the franchise record for most games started by a goalie in one season...by several games, I believe
  18. Yeah, there is definitely a lot to be sorted out with this case. According to the wikipedia article (please hold back the Holcomb's Arm jokes) under "Virginia Tech massacre," the murderer shot his girlfriend at the dorm. Then 2 hours later, more accounts say the same Asian murderer was looking for his girlfriend . So here are the conclusions: 1. The murderer was so out of his mind that he forgot he already killed his cheating girlfriend 2 hours ago. 2. The two murder scenes are unrelated, i.e. a second shooter may still be on the loose. But probably most likely: 3. There was only one shooter, and some of this information being leaked to the media is simply flawed.
  19. Don't even bother. The message board lawyer wanna-be's are on a roll.
  20. This guy? http://www.foxnews.com/photoessay/0,4644,1642,00.html#2_0
  21. No, unfortunately I'll be out of NY state next weekend (work-related). But I bet there will be a good-sized crowd there. The Bandits' home games this season have consistently been around 90% crowd capacity. How have the Minnesota crowds been this year? You think they'll be a pretty stable franchise 5 or so years from now? By the way, I hear the league is looking to expand again next season. Anywhere from 1 to 3 teams. Boston, Vancouver, Seattle, and Oklahoma City ( ) I believe are the frontrunners. There's also a small chance Rochester will relocate. Should be interesting to see how the NLL will be looking 10 or so years from now.
  22. Fez, why aren't you a Bandits fan?! Or maybe I should ask...why aren't you a Vikings fan? Well whatever your reasons, Buffalo may not be as tough a game as you think. We lost our starting goalie Friday night (Dietrich, last year's MVP) to a knee injury. He's not expected to play Sunday. Lots of people think our backup goalie is pretty good (Mike Thompson), but I don't. Playoff predictions: Minny over Bandits . Roch over Toronto Arizona over Calgary Colorado over SJ Roch over Minny Colorado over Arizona Roch over Colorado
  23. While I love the Bills and Sabres (and Bandits) equally, I admit that I have a VERY SLIGHT preference ranking, based on the amount of national exposure each team's championship can give our city: 1-A. Bills 1-AA. Sabres 1-AAA. Bandits Time also plays a role in my preferences. It's been 10 straight years without a championship for the Bandits, a painful 35 for the Sabres, and a whopping 41 for the Bills....
  24. I don't. 42 draft picks and 5 offseasons later, and all we have to show for that miserable TD Era are 9 starters: Losman Evans Peters Schobel Crowell McGee Kelsay Lindell Moorman And a bunch of nice but still highly replaceable backups, several of which may not be on the roster by September: Schneck S. Williams Cieslak Preston Everett Reed Parrish Aiken Denney Anderson Stamer Wire Haggan Leonhard Greer In 5 years worth of time, I would have expected more indispensable "talent." But that's just me. My standards tend to be higher than that of the average 21st century Bills fan.
