Rousseau named AFC Defensive Player of the Week
Ethan in Cleveland replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Well deserved! He's a beast. Stay healthy. Hope Miller and Solomon can offer enough pass rush from the other side to still give Rousseau 1:1 matchups. -
This was not a coaching fail. It started with a missed illegal block in the back. Then it was was execution fail. Three guys - Gilliam, Elam, and Davis all had a chance to make the tackle and they all missed. I guess you could argue why is Elam on kickoff since tackling is his weakness. I would of course counter, why is Gilliam even on the roster. Bills almost lost and you can point blame to three roster bottom feeders that didn't execute. Kick it out of the endzone every time.

Andre Reed was great but Diggs is a better WR. Andre never even had back to back 1000 yard seasons. I know different era. You can even make an argument Moulds was better than both of them but just had terrible QBs. Could you imagine Moulds with Allen???

Game management strategy & “The big miss”
Ethan in Cleveland replied to WIDE LEFT's topic in The Stadium Wall
Ok. So are you advocating for a squib then? Correct me if I'm wrong but the squib is not the same as it has been in the past. The ball must land in the land zone so it's not really a squib anymore and as you saw when he tried it they got the ball at the 40. I'd argue it'ds probably much harder to try and kick it low and land in the landing zone than it is to kick it low and deep. I guess my point was this was not a strategy fail, it was an execution fail. That too! -
Game management strategy & “The big miss”
Ethan in Cleveland replied to WIDE LEFT's topic in The Stadium Wall
Maybe Elam and Gilliam could just tackle the guy. How about that? Bills waste tons of cap space on players that come up small in the big moments. Matakevich last year was on the team for the sole purpose of being on punt team and yet they give up a punt return TD to lose game 1. I loathe this regimes over emphasis on special teams, but McDermott didn't miss those tackles. Also I dispute the thought Bass couldn't kick it into the endzone. He didn't even try. He had a 4 yard run up. He should have kicked a low line drive kick that cut through the wind. You better teach him how to do that because the weather isn't going to get any better. Oh yeah and this should piss people off. I'd rather have a second kicker that only boots it out of the endzone than Gilliam on the roster. If you think about it that would be far more valuable than the 4 snaps Gilliam was on offense. Rant over....lol...Go Bills! -
9 Receivers Catch A Pass! Bills record?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to GASabresIUFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Should have been an NFL record 14 if not for Tawain Jones drop DiMarco was another useless FB No idea who Marcus Murphy is/was. Maybe he was an OL that caught a deflected pass??? -
The 3rd down call and execution was the worst part of the sequence. To go up by 6 is a reasonable choice. If they only need a FG to tie going with the wind, that would have been a tough ask of the defense. I said in the moment to kick it. I also said to myself if McD goes for it and he doesn't make it I would not rip him for that decision.

Taron Johnson ruled out for Dolphins game

Odd. A break would be easy to diagnose. Tendon rupture would be harder to diagnose. -

Zero drops! Bills record? Lol -
Not sure Epenesa even makes half the rosters in the league yet he is starting here on a second contract. He has had some good games against the Dolphins in the past. Let's hope he has a nice breakout game.

McGovern first game at center
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Desert Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Probably true but you are burning clock at that moment. You would not want to snap it early. As others have said, play action probably wins the game right there. Super easy pitch and catch to the vacated area. -
He was only on the field for 4 plays and I think those were all on the final drive. Pretty sure he lined up wide as an HBack and blocked a guy that wasn't near the play on two of them. I'd prefer he wasn't on the roster. I'm sorry but paying a midlling at best FB when you are in cap hell is egregious. A fourth true TE or a big bruiser RB would be better use of the money. They routinely played an extra linemen #70 all game as an eligible TE for run heavy formations.

I agree. But if you remember Cook had gain of 9 yards on one first down carry and had a 12 yard run called back with a hold. Modern NFL you have to be able to dial up a high percentage play that keeps the clock running. And you have to trust Allen. All that said they burned the clock down to the 2 minute warning and still got points.

Seems like more of an advantage for Bills. Miami offense is no different. Bills offense is much different than last year
-
But he doesn't suck at CB. He has 4 career INTs compared to Benford. He had two post-season INTs compared to zero for Benford. I agree tacking is an issue for Elam but Tre White couldn't tackle anyone either. He is still recovering from probable broken scapula though I dont think Bills ever officially said what his injury was. He was inactive.

Davis had 3 carries for 13 yards. I think he got 13 on one carry and got nothing on the other two. He did fine but so did Cook. No reason to change the rotation.
