who is a must have on this list of Bills UFA?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Coldfronts's topic in The Stadium Wall
I would like to see Jones and Johnson back. Jones on a two year deal would be ideal. Johnson is a nice player but outside of Buffalo probably won't command much interest. Hopefully Beane doesn't overpay for him. He can be easily replaced with a day 3 draft pick. Edwards and Rapp would be in the next tier of guys to bring back. They will draft a safety for sure but Rapp gives them a nice 3rd safety option. Hamlin as the fourth safety and special teams guy would be ok for another year. I would help Epenesa drive to the airport. Jackson, Dodson, and Davis are all good players but will be too expensive to keep. Hopefully they net a couple low round comp picks after these three leave. Floyd on a discount would be nice. Hopefully the market for him will be slim. -
The last 5 years of Bills football
Ethan in Cleveland replied to C.Biscuit97's topic in The Stadium Wall
We are the Manning/Dungy Colts revisited. Great QB and loser HC battling against the greatest QB and HC of the era. We will be lucky to get a single SuperBowl and it will only happen like Manning did it. During the SuperBowl run while down at home he waived off the punt team and overruled his HC to keep the drive alive and start a comeback. Josh will need to do the same one day -
Yeah we have Allen they have Reid

McBeane Mid to Late Round Picks Success
Ethan in Cleveland replied to wppete's topic in The Stadium Wall
Lol ... go back and read this same type of thread before the season and Bass was included as an example. No argument Beane has made up for some of his 2nd round failures with some late round gems. This year I'd be happy if he just got a great punter and a developmental Center in the last three rounds. He needs to get a great WR and edge rusher in rounds 1 and 2 -
Is Reggie Gilliam a top 5 fullback in the NFL?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
Except he is none of these things He isn't the third TE What key dirty work is he doing? Edwards is the guy doing the dirty work and playing the heavy blocking TE on most snaps Gilliam is a relic of an outdated winning philosophy just like our HC. -

Ethan in Cleveland replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
Lol I'm not sure he is any of these He's not a good blocker. He's not terrible I,guess Good special teams? Again how would we know and who cares? Anybody care who plays Special Teams for the Chiefs??? Who cares if he is a good athlete We don't need an emergency TE He isn't cheap at all. Any UDFA for league minimum can take his spot and play a position the team might actually need. -
Playoff defense not just bad, next level awful
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
McD has been a fraud since the Houston collapse. His D played great against the Ravens. Other than that he has been totally outclassed. Beane needs to exert control this offseason and prioritize the WR group and the DL. He fixed the oline last year and the RB group will be fine whoever backs up Cook. TE group is great. Now just go get a WR or two to help Diggs and Shakir. Then get younger at edge. He needs to ***** can these special teams players. -
AJ has been invisible his whole career. Can't wait to move on from Epenesa. Really poor draft pick. Floyd can go too. Need to get younger at edge.

He knows just like Diggs knows our headcoach is holding us back. And he knows he can't do anything about it. He's stuck just like us with a guy that talks having winners mindset after losing in the playoffs again.

Is Reggie Gilliam a top 5 fullback in the NFL?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
With our cap a core special team player should be a late round rookie or UDFA. Have to stop wasting money on marginal players. And wouldn't it have been nice to have an extra DB on the team? And same goes for Matakevich. He can't play LB yet he has a roster spot. Sure would have been nice to have an actual LB on the roster for that final game Waste of money, cap space, and roster spots. -

Hopefully new OC will convince McD that he is useless. A team with Josh Allen does not need a FB. A third TE can take all his snaps. -
What is McDermott’s Magnum Opus?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to bubba2018's topic in The Stadium Wall
Of course not I just don't believe McDermott was the reason they made the playoffs in 2017. They made the playoffs despite his incredibly bad coaching decisions that included his defensexgiving up 296 rush yards at home to the Saints, starting Peterman on the road, and playing for a tie in OT. It was TT that beat the Dolphins twice in three weeks and a miracle from the Benglas that ended the drought -

3rd place schedule Lucky win by Benglas over Ravens Opportunistic defense Bills were outscored by almost 50 points on the season Oh yeah and McDermott played for a tie in the Colts snow OT game when a tie would have meant Bills missed the playoffs. -
This is absolutely comical. If Allen doesn't miss a wide open Diggs on a 90 yard TD and if Diggs catches a pass he beat his defender on a go route no one is talking like Diggs is washed. Doggs may be the finest route runner in the NFL. He never had elite speed or size. His decreased numbers were scheme and OC related along with Josh missing him multiple times. My only concern with Diggs this year was the drops. That should be corrected next year.

Ethan in Cleveland replied to bubba2018's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah this is what I was going to say. Probably a top 3 play in franchise history and it was a perfect McDermott red zone defense. Don't recall Josh Allen on the drought teams And remember he played Peterman on the road when Bills were in playoff hunt. -
Are the Mafia really the best fans?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Meatloaf63's topic in The Stadium Wall
George Carlin once said "Think how stupid the average person is and then realize that is the average". There are so many gross fans but Buffalo is no different than any other. I travel to a lot of away games. They are just as bad. Of course it is a very very tiny minority that do these awful things. As for game day home or away, I almost always sit in club level with the hope of pricing out and avoiding the average drunken fan. -
Sunday’s Loss Was Just a Replay of the Win in KC
Ethan in Cleveland replied to st pete gogolak's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is a good point. Ball control is fine for some teams but not when you have Allen. We need an OC that elevates Allen as a passer. We need an OC that opens up our passing game and schemes easy throws. Our passing game seems so lethargic and always more difficult than soem other teams. A better WR to go with Diggs will help too. -

Ethan in Cleveland replied to st pete gogolak's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is the story of McDermott. He seems to make some adjustments early in the game but then when the other team counters he falters. That is a gross oversimplification but seems to be the pattern over the McD era. -
Josh made the right call to go for the TD
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
I dont think you are correct. In the Minnesota game Davis was running a post pattern right towards a single high safety. Horrible decision to make that throw. This was a deep cross against a two deep safety look. Shakir curled right into the open part of the zone and was wide open. Good play design. Josh read it correctly. Going up 4 is completely different than going to 3 or less. -
Josh made the right call to go for the TD
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
They were were run blitzing the middle that drive anc had already been blown up once. Running on first down was the correct choice however it should have been a sweep to the outside either Josh or a WR. -
Falcons hire Rams DC Raheem Morris as head coach
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
Good for Falcons to give a black man a second chance! That said this is such a curios hire for a team that has offensive skill positions ready to blossom. Will be interesting to see what they do for OC and if they draft another QB -
Who are your top 10 QBs in the league
Ethan in Cleveland replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
Everyone so far has done a good job listing the top guys I think Allen is the best QB in the NFL. He wills his team to win despite his HC and guys around him not making plays. However I don't think he is a top 5 passer. I think from a pure passing standpoint he has regressed in the last two years. Perhaos some of that is the elbow and shoulder injuries he dealt with. You can say all you want that his INTs are as good as punts from time to time but let's face it his INTs have take points off the board. He just has to get better taking care of the football. And lastly just like Cam Newton he can't live on his legs forever. If he truly is Elway on steroids then he needs to keep evolving as a passer.
