Brandon Codrington: Solid Acquisition
Ethan in Cleveland replied to EmotionallyUnstable's topic in The Stadium Wall
That ten yard line rule went away a long long time ago. The kicking team is too good at downing the ball inside the 5. You risk having the ball downed very very close to the goal line. However you do see some guys try to fake catching the ball away from where it will actually land, or instead of being a punt catcher they just block the guy nearest them to allow the ball to hopefully go into the endzone. -
the Daboll/Schoen regime - on the brink, it seems

Don't forget the Browns and Jets. Me too You forgot Diggs. Despite what is said here, he helped too. -
I think it is 4 calendar weeks not 4 games. But he seemed like a guy that was going to be out longer than 4 weeks. Sorry. I was wrong it is 4 games but 4 calendar weeks once designated to return to be added back to roster.

Brandon Codrington: Solid Acquisition

The problem with punt return stats is the difference between the very best and the worst is like 5 yards. Anything in the middle is like a 2 yard average difference. That difference doesn't make up for fielding a punt on your own goal line or fumbling the ball. Josh could fall forward and pick up the 2 yard difference. I'd be happy if he just fair caught the ball cleanly the rest of the year. When it is wet, cold, and raining the 4 yard punt return and the inevtiable 10 yard holding penalty is not worth the risk. -
Are The Bears Wrecking Caleb Williams?

No idea how Eberflus kept his job. He has to go. -
Kincaid update? (now declared OUT for Sunday)
Ethan in Cleveland replied to JMM's topic in The Stadium Wall
Nobody wants to say it but LaPorta is better and Beane could have drafted him without trading up wasting a 4th round pick. LaPorta has 14.6 YPC this year. But, we also don't know how much of this is Brady vs Kincaid. So far he seems to be running too many five yard out patterns instead of challenging the mid to deep parts of the field. Is this because we have no deep speed at WR? -

Would love to see that against Baltimore and the Chargers if we face them. Move Taron to FS and put Hamlin on bench. -
Why have a deep threat WR when you can have a FB???

Bills are 8-2 for the first time in over 30 years

Meatloaf!!! Good times!!! -
Pure speculation but is the alignment like this because Hamlin was supposed to blitz to the right side of the offense. He ran up into the hole very quickly so much so he ran himself out of the play. Wonder if he was crashing to that side on a blitz and thus you have Johnson and Hamlin on that side. Maybe Colts got lucky pulling Nelson to that side and blowing open a huge hole.

This was suppose to be a rebuild year
Ethan in Cleveland replied to BillMafia716ix's topic in The Stadium Wall
We are sill less talented than last year. Rapp for Poyer is a wash. Morse for McGovern is a wash. Davis for Coleman is probably a short term downgrade but long term upgrade. Hyde to Hamlin is a downgrade. McGovern to Edwards is a downgrade. And obviously Diggs to Samuel is a massive downgrade. The oline is not as good as last year but I think that is more due to Dawkins and Torrence playing poorly at times. RB group has been improved. Add it all up and Allen is the primary reason they are 8-2. Everyone said his turnovers were overblown but that was total nonsense. It was a massive problem and he had been much much better. That said he was awful in Houston and was the primary reason they lost that game. I would add one other thing. Coaching is better. Second half adjustments are much better this year. Don't forget the retooling also included a new DC and an OC that had a full offseason to work on the offense. -

Three of those games were against Jets and Miami who were supposed to be better. Everyone knew the real tough stretch was these next four games. -

I'd add Cook, Cooper, possibly Rousseau, and Bernard to your list. And that leaves off Shakir who can also make plays but is not an elite talent. -
To be fair only Rousseau is a capable pass rusher. The opponents have no need to hold. Many holding calls like yesterday against Torrence occur when the QB is flushed from the pocket. We aren't good enough rushing the passer to flush them from the pocket very often. That said there have been several blatant holds not called this year including against my punching bag AJE yesterday.

The Chiefs have only scored 30 points once this season
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Buffalo03's topic in The Stadium Wall
Division winners and AFC East vs AFC West rotation. Assuming both teams win the division we will play them again next year. No conspiracy. The home and away is predetermined obviously except the playoffs. -
Yes that was the notable exception.
-
Well not sure how you come to that conclusion since the first INT was going to Shakir. This team needs a true receiving threat. After they moved on from Diggs I thought that would be Kincaid. I thought they would take the approach KC has done with Kelce. But Kincaid has not been the superstar we had hoped for so far. He's solid but not even close to an elite TE. Coleman looks like he may be as good or better than Davis was. But he is not a #1. If Kincaid doesn't get better and Cooper leaves in free agency they will need to find another true #1.

I've never watched a game with so few replays. Almost no penatly was shown except maybe the hold on Torrence. For those that watched other games was there also a lack of replays? I would not put it past Goodell to tell the networks to cut it out after the way Al Michaels blasted them on Thursday.

The Bye Can't Come Soon Enough...Rest and Fix Some Things
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Wizard's topic in The Stadium Wall
Josh missed him deep in week 1 and 2. Was wide open. I said at the time they made the Cooper trade, I would have kept MVS and got rid of Gilliam to carry an extra WR. Was never going to happen. If Bernard was healthy they may have tried to cut a useless linebacker and keep an extra WR. But that was unlikely with Bernard still injured or just back from injury. -
Tyler Bass’s performance

Looked good. The last XP started drifting right but the other kicks were solid.
