I think he would, I dont know a team that would sign a guy that hasnt been on their team all summer and away from playing for 6 weeks to their active roster.

I think he does get released and tried to put on the PS.

If he is released. Another team can add him to their practice squad if he chooses to sign with them. Only once is he back on the Bills squad would he need to be signed to another team's 53.

Every back up LB on this team is expendable.  None of them are any good. If Dodson can outplay any of them then bring him back to the 53 man roster.

Aaron Rodgers and Mahomes are the poster boys for having a QB sit and learn. Brady, Josh Allen (when he was hurt last year), Kyle Allen (this year) all benefited from sitting for a bit. Yet the Mannings, Luck, Russell Wilson, Dak Prescott are examples of throwing a QB into the deep end right away.

Bottomline - every QB is different and no one method will work for everyone. That said, the article is very well written. I did not know the specifics of the Rams with Goff and it makes for an interesting read. Maybe Darnold had the same issue vs. the Pats, eh?

    You nailed it.

None of these guys know anything more than the casual fan when evaluating a QB. Im serious about that statement. Every team passed on Brady including the Patriots. Kurt Warner, Jamarcus Russell. The list is endless of the hits and misses by supposed experts.  We as fans see the college games too. Many of us know the level of competition these guys face and the silly numbers they put up against inferior competition.

Mark my words the next Oregon bust will be Herbert. This guy doesn't have a single signature win or play in his entire career. His yards come from dump offs and WR screens. He will be next in a long line of Oregon bust QBs with the notable exception of Fouts.

  3. No tight end in the history of the franchise has made the ProBowl.   It's not like they have't tried. They drafted Tony Hunter ahead of Jim Kelly.  They tried to trade for Tony Gonzalez when he still had several ProBowl years left in him.  They had a top prospect nearly paralyzed on a kickoff.

Knox has made some acrobatic catches that rarely have been seen in Buffalo by a TE.  He doesn't have elite speed or elite size, but neither do Kelce, Witten, or Ertz.  He has just enough size and speed to be a great TE if given more time.

I've posted many times that a healthy Kroft paired with Knox could be very difficult to defend giving Daboll run or pass options with multiple formations from a single personnel grouping.

I also made no secret that I wanted Hockenson or Fant(with a trade down) in the draft over all other players except Josh Allen, OLB.  Hockenson is 13th in catches and yards for TE's but Knox has more than 2.5 YPC more than Hockenson.  If Knox had a few more catches he would be one of the league leaders in YPC.

Foster is healthy and was scratched vs. Miami. Not sure what is going on with him.

Again, it matters not if JA cannot hit the deep pass, which he has shown to date he cannot

He could last year.  It's been a problem all year but he can snap out of it.  His short to intermediate accuracy is much improved.  I will take that over long ball any day.  But if he could hit just a few over the next few weeks it will open up the offense.

  5. Nobody knows how good this team really is.  I think they consistently play to the level of their competition.  I don't know if that can be improved with experience, coaching, consistently winning, or a bad loss.  They played the Patriots tougher than any other team and if Allen isn't hurt, he either tosses two more ugly picks or wins the game in the 4th quarter(hell maybe he does both).

They have 4 games that will decide how good they truly are - Eagles, Browns, Cowboys, and Ravens.  Win three of those four and you know this team is legit.  Lose three or more and you know the 5-1start was mostly a mirage and due to bad teams.

The Patriots game could decide the division and will likely be flexed regardless.  They play too tight and amped up against the Patriots and I just don't see this team being able to compete against Belichick in December with the division on the line.  But wining the division at Foxborough would be the same as the sacking of Rome.  History of the NFL would change at that moment.

  6. Very impressed with Brown. I will admit I didn't know too much about him.  At the time he signed, I just read he was doing well with Flacco but once Lamar took over at QB his targets dropped off quite a bit.

I'm most impressed with the deep in, outs, and crossing patterns he has run.  He is money on those 17-22 yard patterns.  Always seems to get nice separation.  It is a pass Allen really throws well when he has time in the pocket to stand tall and deliver a deep ball to a WR that is not going away from him.

Seahawks fans thought the same thing when they got Clowney.  Hasn’t worked out that way.

Miller is a better pass rusher and all around player than Clowney. Clowney, not unlike CJ Spiller, is more athlete than football player. Just doesn't make the plays when needed most. But your premise is correct, they could trade for Miller and be no better at rushing the passer. Murphy and Lawson are just not any good at pass rushing and Hughes has taken a small step back.

  8. Maj, there are many ways to win in the NFL. A pass first offense can win. But so can run first and play defense. For every Pats-Eagles shootout SB there is a Seahawks-Broncos or Pats-Rams.

I do believe the 4 min offense late in games should be pass first when everyone is expecting run. Dink and dunk there works almost all the time.

I also believe an elite TE in modern pass offense is the key. Bills don't have an elite TE but with Knox and Kroft by year's end they may be good enough to have the base offense be two WR, two TE, one RB. They can then run almost any play with that grouping and keep the opponents base defense on the field.

I am pro build through the draft all the way, but if the Bills are convinced that Von Miller can still produce at a high level...then it may deserve consideration. The Bills are certainly more aware of where they stand than in weeks past.

I'm a win now guy. And I'm also a build on your strength guy. A dominant pass rusher would make this defense terrifying.

Another WR or RT probably won't mean much this year, but if the can land a speed WR or a RT for the stretch run it could help.

  10. Simply not enough short fields. They make stops more than your average bend but don't break defense. Which makes the yards per game stat look good. But just forcing punts isn't good enough.  Need more turnovers, sacks, and occasionally score some points by the defense. How did Baltimore win in Seattle? Defense scored two touchdowns.  I know that is not the norm, but Jets were beating Bills for most of the game due in no small part to a pick 6.

I wouldn't mind seeing a few more first downs being given up a game if thet can get a few turnovers early that lead to points.

When we commit no turnovers we are a hard team to beat.

Clean up the penalties (especially pre-snap omg) and it becomes that much harder.

Any NFL team is hard to beat when committing no turnovers

Penalties have been an issue with this coaching staff that has not been addressed. Just same lip service about being a young team.

  12. These top 100 are always controversial. Thurman deserves to be on this list. He is every bit as good as Dorsett and Peterson and far better than Franco Harris.

I think they did a good job of including many linemen and defensive players.

I would not have Namath in my top 100 based on skill but if it is based on impact on the game he belongs.

I would not have Aikman, Franco Harris, Bradshaw, Peterson, JJ Watt, Mike Webster, or Marvin Harrison in the top 100. Maybe Tarkenton too, always thought he was overrated

As far as rankings, Larry Allen and Steve Young are too low. And Sayers is top 100 but should be listed as 100 with an asterisk due to injury shortened career.
