Myocarditis has an incredibly variable presentation. It can be as mild as self limited chest pain to full blown cardiogenic shock requiring ECMO (artificial circulation). It usually resolves without sequalae but can also leave someone with a permanent cardiomyopathy (weak heart). Cardiomyopathy can lead to chronic heart failure and sudden death - (think squiggly line and CPR on TV). No one can really predict the course of myocarditis from more common viruses like adenovirus and cocksackie. COVID was and still is to a great deal a great unknown. Doctors were correct to be cautious. Fortunately there are good tests to confirm return of normal function and even cardiac MRI's can show if there was any permanent scar in the heart muscle even if function is normal. As for the player, he is on the outside looking in at a roster spot at this point. If they draft TE in the first 5 rounds, he probably has little chance to make the roster.

The end of excuses for defensive draft picks
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Playoff Win's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is spot on. He really flashed at times. Hughes was still the best DL by far but Oliver played well at times too. Nowhere near a top 10 draft pick status but that is what he will always be compared against. You would want a top 10 pick in the conversation as top 3 or 4 in the league at their position. I'm not sure he is top 10 in the conference yet but he had his moments last year. DT's take a while to develop. I think we will see what Oliver's ceiling will look like this year. I'm thinking 8 sacks, a handful of tackles for loss, and two forced fumbles. -
The end of excuses for defensive draft picks

Agree. I've been quite outspoken that they need to draft a true edge player and/or move Edmunds to Edge. The kid from Carolina Obada is intriguing. 6-5 and 265 and had 5.5 sacks last year. Quite a few on here feel CB#2 is more of a need. I get that and they may be correct, but I'm higher on Wallace than others. I feel more pass rush helps the secondary more than adding another CB. Epenesa developing, a rookie edge, moving Oliver back to 3-tech all the time, and developing the successor to Star should be the plan for the DL this year. -

Not sure I agree. He was too fat and slow to play NFL DE. Not big enough to play DT. The modern NFL 4-3 DE doesn't look like Reggie White anymore, They are tall and lean. If he is fast enough to play DE then dropping weight makes sense. If he isn't fast enough to rush the passer, then it was a wasted pick. -

Good OP! As for Edmunds he played terribly against Baltimore and KC when he was supposedly fully healed. I am rooting for him because if he was truly a ProBowl level player he can anchor the defense for another 5-7 years. I just have not seen it. I have been critical of him for a while now. To be fair I watched a 2020 highlight film and he did have a real nice goal line stop on a running play last year. I think it was San Fran or Denver game( I missed them both). Other than that I don't recall any significant plays he made all year. Oliver has flashed. DTs take time to develop. Still think he can be a 8-10 sack guy from the interior. Epenesa also flashed. Harrison is just not good enough. He was a penetrating DT at Stanford not a guy that took on double teams. He may be a training camp cut if they draft 1-tech DT. -
I like them. Especially orange top and black pants.

He wasn't voted in so I would say they agree with me. There are lots of borderline HOF players. He is one of them because of the unique impact he had on the game. Nothing wrong with being known as a borderline HOF player. If you keep letting in borderline players like Terrell Davis and Lynn Swann you get the Hall of the Very Good, not the truly exceptional. For the record, I also don't agree with the narrative that special teams are 1/3rd of the team. It's not even close even when you include the kicker. But I do agree with you, Tasker may be the best ever for his role on the team.

Who's your pick for this years Madden cover?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Cson76's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I see only two defenders. Ray Lewis and Richard Sherman. I'm thinking it will be Aaron Donald or Jamal Adams -
Great Bill. Not a HOF player. If you let him in you really water down the level of player inducted. I'm also on record that Levy should not be in the HOF. I would not have put in Reed either had they not put in Monk, Brown, and Irvin. All were very good but none were truly HOF level. Once they let in Monk though then I felt Reed should make after retiring with the career lead in catches. I'd be in favor of some special section for special teamers that recognizes their contribution. There are a number of return guys, gunners, punters, and kickers that all had great careers - almost none of which belong in the HOF.

His only thought should be how do I win the SuperBowl in 2021 or 2022.

Who are the 49er's going to take at 3
Ethan in Cleveland replied to wagne591's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Every mock draft has them taking Jones. If Shanahan told his friends what they were doing with the pick, would you fire him if you were the GM or owner? Allen was not consensus 4th rated QB. He was the consensus most raw prospect even when compared to Jackson. Their was zero consensus on the QB order going into that draft. There were several mocks that had Darnold or Rosen going #1 overall. There were others that saw Mayfield fall to 4th taken. Some folks thought the Jets would take Allen and even others thought the Broncos could be in the mix for Allen as the #3 QB taken. -

I think it will be Lance. They will keep Jimmy G for another year and let Lance develop. Mac Jones will be the guy that falls to the Steelers in the late 20's. The big question is what do the Falcons do at 4? Do they draft QB, trade out, or take Pitts. -
Excellent point. The counter of course is even by 2011 Brady was old. But still I love it when posters bring actual facts to the table. Well done!

Everything in your post is accurate except you are missing one key thing. You don’t have any allowance for future draft picks. If you want to make a big move up in the first round you need to give up next year’s first round pick. They can easily get from 30 to 15 if they want to. The Chiefs went from 27 to 10 and all they gave up was a 3rd and the following year’s first. It can be done.

Fromm is at best an unknown at worst a weak armed stiff. I'm not sure that a late round QB is out of the question if they plan to carry 3 QBs. I don't think they will draft a Kicker or Punter. I doubt the will draft a G or MLB. Sadly I think they are committed to Edmunds playing inside. As for interior linemen, I hope they draft a pure center.

Bills OT Trey Adams retiring
Ethan in Cleveland replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Darn. I had him penciled in as swing tackle based on talent. Probably means Hart has the inside track to make the final 53 -
Good assessment 1. I'm higher on Wallace than many on this board. Don't see CB2 as a glaring need 2. Star will be gone and H.Phillips isn't that good. They need a true 1-tech to play next to Oliver 3. I would have no issue if they added a WR. I posted several times I would have kept Brown for his speed. I am in SB win now mode so a RB adds more playmaker ability than another rookie WR in my mind for 2021 4. 100% agree they need to add a true center this year or next. Centers can start and play well as a rookie. Interior linemen or TE in the middle rounds this year would be fine. But I can see a scenario that they draft at 32 next year and take a center then

Beane is a guy that burns picks for a player he covets. My guess is he lets the draft come to him in the first round and takes Harris or Etienne if they fall to 30. Then he trades up in the second round for a pass rusher giving up a 4th. He then gives up a 2nd next year to move from late third to late 2nd and takes the NT of the future.

SI: The Unrivaled Arrival of Trevor Lawrence
Ethan in Cleveland replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you bet Lawrence vs all other QBs drafted this year, which is more likely to be a star? I'd still take the field. Lawrence looks like the best prospect since neckbeard Andrew Luck. But one just never knows. The Jets at 2 might still get the best QB in the draft. -
Born and raised in WNY - Tonawanda and Lockport to be specific. In Portland Oregon since 2002 after 14 years in Ohio

Love the Bills success. Just don’t understand other posters points about the Browns who gave the Chiefs all they could handle. One can make the argument that at least pre-draft the Bills are no better than the team they had in 2020. They did a great job of bringing people back, but are they a better team? I think they are a little better on the DL, depth on OL seems a bit better, and at WR they may be better at WR#2 (at least less injury prone). I think most would agree the Browns are a better team on paper than they were in 2020. They have addressed their biggest weakness in the secondary with one of the best free agent signings this off-season. Garrett may be the best defender in AFC but in the end Allen is a better QB than Mayfield and that matters most.
