So what is the Defensive Gameplan?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Straight Hucklebuck's topic in The Stadium Wall
100% agree. You can stop elite TEs with elite Corners. I would be fine if White played man to man with Kelce the whole game and they played zone everywhere else -
So what is the Defensive Gameplan?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Straight Hucklebuck's topic in The Stadium Wall
Same as it should be every week. Rush the passer with four guys and drop into zone coverage. That is what the Bills are built to do. Beane upgraded the DL and it is time for them to deliver. Any good QB eats up the blitz most of the time. The key is to sprinkle in some blitz packages enough that you get a big play from time to time. -
Tremaine Edmunds named AFC Defensive Player of the Week
Ethan in Cleveland replied to nato7412's topic in The Stadium Wall
That's fair. I have no problem trusting what I see and making my own opinions as I'm sure you do. I probably have no further insight into the play call and his responsibilities than PFF does. In the end it is just an opinion. And if he continues to play well I will be happy because having a young MLB that is playing well is a good thing. But if he plays poorly I'm not going to stop pointing it out for him or any player. Its juat analysis and has nothing to do with my Fandom or wish that they all play well. Go Bills! -
Tremaine Edmunds named AFC Defensive Player of the Week
Ethan in Cleveland replied to nato7412's topic in The Stadium Wall
Just for the record though. PFF had him at a 58 or something like that before this game. So according to the same rating site that people are now posting, he was playing as a bottom tier starting linebacker. So is PFF only accurate when they rate Bills players high? Can't both be true? He wasn't playing great and then played a great game? -
Tremaine Edmunds named AFC Defensive Player of the Week

Good for him. He played well last week. I've been critical of his play for a while. I favored picking up his option for exaclty this reason. Lets see what he does this year. -
What was up with Beasley today?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The reason you haven't is because he has nearly half of all his catches in one game - 11 against WFT. Sanders and Knox have emerged as consistent producers so that means less opportunities for Diggs, Beasley and in particular Davis -
W’s in the next two weeks - playoff football?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They can lose to KC and still get home field advantage. Their division is far more difficult than the AFC East. However the path to a home AFC Championship game is far easier with a win this Sunday. If they can't beat them in Oct in KC it will take something extraordinary to beat them in Jan in KC. -
People need to stop declaring bust or HOF on such small sample sizes. Herbert has looked very good but so did Derek Anderson for a year. Many thought Josh was a bust after year 1. Many think Tua is as well. These analysts need to decrease the hyperbole but then again that is what generates clicks now.

Week 1: Rams over Bears Week 2: Packers over Lions Week 3: Denver over Jets Week 4: Bills over Texans Week 5 : Dallas over the Giants As above I was leaning Tampa but I'm going to save them for a later day. Dallas at home against a not very good Giants team seems safer than Green Bay on the road. Baltimore should handle the Colts but after what Harbaugh did at the end of the game last week, karma might bite his ass and embarrass him on national TV

Tough week to choose I’m leaning Tampa at home over the Dolphins but worried about a let down game after emotional week. Green Bay Dallas Minnesota and New England look like winners too Going to think about it one more day

Like I said I’ve only been there once so I’d trust LeonLett’s head more than me.

That's the one. But be advised it's a bar not a restaurant. So that means no families with kids. I only walked inside once. It's small, dark and covered in wood paneling with poor viewing sight lines. You would be better off going to Buffalo Wild Wings. There are usually no less than three or four tables of Bills fans there.

Good point. Teams used to put a spy on him. I dont see that happening anymore Another thing I have not seen is many designed roll outs and throws back across the field. Daboll seemed to have 1 or 2 a game in the past. It may be that our OL is not mobile enough to run effectively.

Good write up 1. Agree with everything you said about Edmunds including the play you highlighted. 1a. Star is playing his best football. 2. On the Josh scramble for the pylon, it was hard to tell how open Knox was. It looked like he was wide open but but there may have been a defender trailing him that we could not see 3. Diggs is just a flat out super-star. Not as physically dominant as some of the top tier WRs's like Hopkins and Julio Jones but he and Cooper Kupp are probably the best route runners in the league. He has great hands as well. 4. Knox is a star in the making. Most physically gifted TE they have had in three decades - maybe ever. He can get deep. He can get separation. He runs well after the catch and he makes difficult catches. Drops seem to be getting better. He is at best an average blocker but his work in the passing game makes up for that. 5. Stadium experience - great points. I don't know how many on this board have a chance to go elsewhere. The food and drink options in the club level at Highmark pale in comparison to many other places. And the general admission food options and tunnel issues are awful. Now that said, there are worse out there too. Oakland was the worst experience ever. Chicago was not much better. Green bay was disappointing too(the Milwaukie Baseball stadium is amazing though) I've not been to Dallas or Vegas yet, so I can't compare to them all, but the top of the line for me was Arizona club. KC has really good food too.

He was out there enough. Right or wrong McD and Frazier favor a rotation to keep players fresh. I just don't see this defense producing consisten double digit sack guys. It is pass rush by committee.

Three observations about the season so far
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Theve hammered terrible QBs and lost to a Pittsburgh team that hasn't looked that great since. I think 4 games in we still don't know how good this team is. The defense looks great but they are facing really bad QBs. The pass rush is better but still spotty. The offense is good enough to win but still just a bit our of sync. I like that Daboll is running the ball more. They need to keep that up and execute a little better in the red-zone. Learning to run the ball and adjust to what the defenses are trying to take away will help the Bills as the season wears on. -
What was up with Beasley today?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He had 11 catches last week and 25 for the season. On pace for over 100 receptions. If he is whining he needs to shut up. After an 11 reception game and playing in bad weather where you would expect more underneath throws the Texans decided to bracket him a bit more. That just made more room for Diggs and others. Suck it up Cole and wait your turn. I like Gabe Davis and Sanders but Cole is devastating in the slot. So far Gabe is the odd man out and it should stay that way as Sanders has been phenomenal too. -
Pats had a timeout and two down to get 3 yards. Both times the RB lined up in front of the QB not even the threat of a run.

Al talks way too much. Let Collinsworth talk more.

4-0 and just beat what I thought was the best team in the NFL. Murray seems to be playing very well. Anyone follow them closely?

The screen that got called back for the hold he was out of position and got blocked 10+ yards down field if I remember correctly. He was not the guy getting held That play and the 10 yard run up the middle you pointed out were the only two negative plays I saw today. Best game he has played since second half of 2019! No doubt.

Returns from 2021 Draft Picks
Ethan in Cleveland replied to WhitewalkerInPhilly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree. Early returns good so far. Was hoping Epenesa was going to flash more but other than the Miami game he has been a non-factor
