Marquez Stevenson designated IR-Return
Ethan in Cleveland replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall
That is just stupid coach speak. Everyone knows no player can turn the ball over. Singletary fumbled and wasn't touched and Breida and Allen both fumbled the ball away. Do people really want to trust a rookie coming off IR to field punts and return kick offs??? Not this late in the season. Besides who do you sit? Unlilely they would sit Beasley or McKenzie. Moss? Breida? Jones? Kumerow is already not dressing. -
All-22 Grades for Bills/Colts (The Athletic)
Ethan in Cleveland replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree. I watched him fairly close and thought he played ok. Butler and Phillips were both awful so it didn't matter. As for missing Edmunds, what this article describes Klein doing poorly is how Edmunds plays the run most of the time. -
A Few Thoughts about the Colts game, in no particular order
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
He played better against Indy than Boettger has played all season. One game sample may not be enough though. That said he started over Boettger even when Feliciano was healthy suggesting the staff thinks he is the best option. Will be interesting to see how he plays this week. -
A Few Thoughts about the Colts game, in no particular order
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
Good write up. I only thought one call went against the Bills and that was on the first INT. They should have called illegal contact and given the Bills a first down. Allen was still in the pocket so the WRs are not to be touched after 5 yards. It was a missed call. Other than that all the other penalties were self inflicted. McD has had an up and down track record on penalties. He has good and bad years. I still don't understand being in nickel most of the time. Milano can cover backs or TEs out of the backfield and line up wide if needed. They should have been in a base 4-3 much more. On to New Orleans. The season will be decided next Monday night. -
I am not a ESPN fan but Steven A had it right
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Sharky7337's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agree. I don't call Beane a wizard but I thought this last off-season was his finest work. He got guys that were underperforming to take pay cuts. He brought back Milano and Williams. And he signed Sanders to replace Smoke. All good moves. Where Beane did poorly was the draft. He did not add a 1-tech DT nor an interior OL. I wanted Najee Harris in the first round but once he was gone I was fine with Rousseau. After that it should have been 1-tech DT and a C/G next. Also all those late round picks are useless on a team with this much talent. He should have spent a few of those picks to move up into the 4th round. My mantra has not changed. They should be in win now at all costs. I don't think Beane thinks that way though. He has been consistent in saying sustained success. That's fine, but those 2022 draft picks aren't doing anything to help Allen now. Zach Ertz has 22 receptions in 5 games with AZ for a fifth round pick! Sweeney has 17 receptions in his career. Doyle the most recent 5th round pick has maybe 22 seconds of playing time. There were moves to be made and he stood pat. Now we just have to hope the injured/COVID players come back and play well down the stretch. -

Poyer and Hyde were Whaley and McD signings not Beane. Beane has been up and down in free agency. Overpaid for Star. Trent Murphy was a bust. Smoke was good for a season and a half. Beasley is outstanding. Feliciano is ok. Butler, Addison, and the other pile of crap DT they let go after one year have been awful. Overpaid for Morse but he is at least a capable center. Williams deal I thought was a good one. -
Is McDermott a Wartime Consigliere?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to DallasBillsFan1's topic in The Stadium Wall
Young team? Cmon man. That was the excuse three years ago. Many of the best players are already extended or on their second contracts. The only starter on defense with less than 3 years is Rousseau. Brown is the only rookie seeing playing time on offense and Davis is a second year guy. Otherwise they are actually old at WR and experienced at OT and C. The time to win is now. Beane screwed up not getting more talent and keeping his picks for next year. The SB window will slam shut soon when all these extensions kick in. -
What players are true draft busts under Beane?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
The question is not whether they are busts or not. It is about the return on investment. First and second day picks are premium slots where you need to find impact players. Yes Epenesa is getting snaps but he is not making any plays. He looks like a guy that will be out of the league in two years or will struggle to sign 1 yr contracts. Moss and Ford have occasional good moments but neither look like they are athletic enough to play in the NFL. "Red shirting" Basham as some on here suggested is insane. He's a second round pick. Those picks need to be competing with the starters for snaps from day one. Brown is a nice find. Oliver is ok. He's not an all-pro but he is a very capable starter at a position it takes time to develop. -
Week 12: Bills at Saints on Thanksgiving
Ethan in Cleveland replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Poorly worded. I meant to say if the Bills lose these next two games I think they won't win the division nor make the playoffs, and therefore McD's job status should be in jeopardy. I honestly think the Bills win the next two games. So much so I think I'm going to try and fly to the Pats game -
That is a lot of upgrades. They realistically can make maybe 3 or 4 significant changes. I would prioritize two guards, a second TE, and two DL. I too think Morse is overpaid but they need to fix the guards before they replace him. They should have drafted his replacement last year. Wallace is better than most #2 CBs in the league. He will be hard to replace.

There are limited options at this point. I would do a few things. 1. Bench Gilliam or just cut him and sign a street FA TE. This team should never play with a FB and he brings nothing as a TE. Did you see a FB in front of Taylor yesterday? 2. Davis should be the outside receiver. Sanders and Beasley should rotate at the slot on 3 WR sets and the four of them should be in 4 WR sets. 3. Play Basham over Epenesa. Epenesa looks like a complete bust. Basham has size and in limited action seems to hold his own against the rush. 4. Stop blitzing. The defense plays best rushing four and dropping into zone. They can't get pressure blitzing anyways. 5. Start lining up Rousseau all over the place. He played all positions along the DL at Miami. Let him rush from the inside from time to time. 6. Bench Moss. Breida should be getting 50% of the snaps with Singletary 7. Keep Josh under center and go with heavy sets frequently. Josh has shown he can be effective throwing out of these sets. Use Davis as the single WR. He is the best blocking WR on the team and still a threat to catch the ball unlike Kumerow. 8. Keep calling designed runs for Josh. Not sure why this board doesn't want them. He is lethal running the ball. Use him.

Week 12: Bills at Saints on Thanksgiving
Ethan in Cleveland replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bears and Jets had no expectations. I agree it would be extremely unlikely but going from AFCCG to missing the playoffs could make Pegula think about it. -
See Tampa Bay with Dungy. McD is not the guy. Allen is the future. He can win it all. But not with this coach.

Win and win at home on Monday night and all will be ok - lose two back to back national games and McD is gone -
Is it Zero Depth or Bad Coaching?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall
Been stating it for a while now. Physically soft on both lines and mentally weak. They don't seem to deal with adversity well at all. Don't clap after a mistake. Get in their grill and make them go out and make a play to make up for the mistake. -
What are your expectations for the rest of the season?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
I see two scenarios : First: 5-2. Losses to Tampa and New England on the road. Bills play the starters all the way in week 17. Bills win the division and beat New England in first round of playoffs. Lose to KC in Championship game again. Second: McD loses the locker room with loss next week and loss at home against the Patriots. Bills implode and go 1-6 down the stretch. This team was expected to compete for a SB. Win the next two and they have a shot. Lose the next two and McD is out of a job -
Why play nickel all game against that offense?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall
In the end Indianapolis just has better players. The only hope was Allen and the offense scoring at will. On to New Orleans. The season and McD's career will be decided next Monday night -
Time to bring out the pitchforks for Beane ?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Teddy KGB's topic in The Stadium Wall
Beane is just an average GM. I've been saying it for years. If the Jets took Allen he would have taken Rosen or Darnold and the Bills would be the Jets. He got lucky Allen fell to him. He gave up too much for Edmunds. Oliver was a reach though he is a fine player. Bass looks solid. Ford, Moss, Epenesa are all busts. People said it was fine Basham isn't dressing often. A second round pick gets the red shirt season and people are ok with that??? Nuts. That said I thought his offseason was good. I liked the Williams deal. I liked Brown in the 3rd. Basham and Doyle are wastes of picks that should have been on the interior line. Many of us were screaming for a NT or C/G. Oh well. Not going to let it get to me. They either play better or they don't. I cant care that much anymore. -
The Good News and The Bad News
Ethan in Cleveland replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bad news is Beane and McD pissed away a SB year window with Allen on his rookie deal. Beane should have made moves to the DL and OL early in the year. Instead he stood pat protecting his precious draft picks in 2022. They should have been all in like the Rams. Now they will have to scramble to even win the division. -
Many on this board deserve a pat on the back
Ethan in Cleveland replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agreed. I wanted a C/G in round two. Brown looks ok so far as a RT. Wanted to keep Lee Smith. Rousseau has been ok. At least he is getting playing time. Epenesa and Basham are not providing anything. -

Hope some reporter has the balls to ask McD and Frazier why they are in nickel all game.
