Personal Ultimatum to Maintain Sanity
Ethan in Cleveland replied to cv05's topic in The Stadium Wall
OP. I get the frustration. And I am a McDermott skeptic. But he is a decent coach and this franchise has been much much worse. I don't think McDermott will win the SB and I think Beane is not aggressive enough to win now. But go watch any video clip from 1985 or look at the moves Marv Levy made as GM. It could be much worse. That said I am unabashedly win now at all costs. The window with Allen is going to slam shut soon. That is why I get rid of McDermott now and go all in this off season. I am willing to risk it getting worse for the chance they win it all with a real coach. -
Sad but this is true. D is a fraud. But there is nothing to believe Mac Jones is any better than the other fraud QBs this defense has beaten. Brady will destroy us by 30. And then we will pound the Pats after the Colts beat them up too. It will save McDermott job.

Beane needs to spend serious resources on the OL
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
I will be posting opposite of what I said at the time of the draft. I was beating the drum for Najee Harris. Then I thought Ford was the answer at LG. But I've come to my senses. They need to get younger and better on the o-line. Brown looks like he can play. It is time to end Dawkins at LT. Move him to LG and draft an elite OT in the first round. Then sign a top 3 OG in free agency. Morse is ok for another year. Keep Williams as a guy who can play G or OT. He will be expensive but is insurance at multiple spots. -
It was an odd run defensive effort. They got gashed once and had several 10 yard gains. But they also had several tackles for loss. They held them to 1 TD and two FGs. Star was invisible but he is even when he is playing well. He is not a penetrating DT. Edmunds was the worst player on the field by far.

Not News - This roster just isn't good enough.
Ethan in Cleveland replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall
Monday morning quartebacking. As much crap as I give Beane I thought this last offseason was his finest. He brought back Milano and Williams and got guys to take pay cuts. They had no more money to spend and got good value out of Spencer Brown The big error was the bet on Ford. He was supposed to step up and return from injury and be a good guard. He's a bust. The other error is TE#2 Tommy Sweeney and Gilliam. Both of these guys are awful. Neither belong on a NFL roster. They have no good blocking TE. Lastly they have a two back to back second round picks in Epenesa and Basham that have done nothing. You can't keep missing on guys that high in the draft. Beane gets one more off season from me before I'm done with him. -
How many challenges has McDermott won?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Gisele's topic in The Stadium Wall
I didn't know the 4th quarter had more minutes in it than the third quarter -
Did Sean go too far calling out Mckenzie?

Having Hyde not fair catch the punts cost them some yards. The Breida fumble was brutal. Then benching him for Moss was a dumb decision. -
Rational Thoughts After Pats Loss
Ethan in Cleveland replied to corta765's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's not about what McD has done. You have to believe he can win the SB or not. That is all that matters. Five years of 10 wins and no SB is not success. We have had that already. The fan base and the city wants a championship. If you believe McDermott can do it there are signs of prior success that he can. If you believe as I do that he is closer to Dungy in Tampa and Schottenheimer in Cleveland, San Diego, and KC then you should move on to another head coach. My immediate 2022 choice was Lincoln Riley but that ship had sailed. -
Tired of teams "stealing" wins from us
Ethan in Cleveland replied to BeastMaster's topic in The Stadium Wall
Maybe we need to stop saying they have a more talented roster than the opponents they lose to. If that is really the case then it all comes down to coaching. Im fien with getting rid of McDermott. I've thought he was a fraud for a long time.. But that is too simplistic. The fact is outside of a few players the talent is just not there. Edmunds is trash and proved it on a national stage last night. The LB depth after Milano is terrible. The entire o-line is awful at run blocking. There is not one linemen that can move a defender off the ball. Enough has been said about the lack of talent at RB spot. And despite what all the metrics say, this d-line can not generate a pass rush. -
That is what I saw too. They had four plays to get a first down or score a TD. Had Moss gotten 4 or 5 yards on first they have three more downs to run any plays they want. Of all the run plays called I was fine with that call. Especially as Josh had been beating them they might have been caught not playing the run. A better RB makes a good gain there.

Do you really believe McDermott is the coach to win a SuperBowl? He burned a challenge on a QB sneak that no one from either sideline could see the player or the ball. If it is 100% on the players, then is Beane culpable in this mess? Other teams made moves to get better at the trade deadline. Bills didn’t make a move with obvious issues at TE, DT, RB, and OG. This team was a SuperBowl pick. If they don’t make the playoffs then is anyone held accountable? Or do you just give McD another year? How many years ? First I thought McDermott was Dungy with Tampa. Now I’m thinking he is at best Marty Schottenheimer.

This team has a top 3 QB and is not going to make the playoffs. McDermott should be fired. Beane did nothing at the trade deadline to help this flawed team. They won’t be fired but both should go.

Poyer and Hyde snap at Jerry Sullivan
Ethan in Cleveland replied to IBTG81's topic in The Stadium Wall
Unprofessional question from a bush league reporter. He should have been banned a long time ago. You can ask about the run defense and the missed assignments. You can’t ask if they are embarrassed after giving up 14 points -
Because we watch the games. The Bills have beaten one good team all year and that was without their best player on defense. How hard is this board to understand that this team is really bad. If they played Miami now they lose. They lost to Jacksonville. They just lost at home to a rookie QB that threw the ball 3 times. What do you think is going to happen in Tampa? I was still buying the hype and thought Allen would get the win. But McDumbass let Daboll keep running the ball. Now the season is over. They should sit Edmunds so he doesn’t get hurt and trade him in the off season. He was the worst player on the field The Bills could have scored in the 3rd quarter. That might have helped.
-
You really believe that?
-
Fair enough
-
Allen was outside the pocket. The DBs can man handle the WR before the throw. After the throw the DB turned to make a play. They could have called DPI but they usually don't in that situation
-
Yeah I agree. That was the one that I was hoping once he got his hands on it he secures the catch. But you see it all the time. The defender punches the ball out.

Time to Question the toughness of this team?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to wppete's topic in The Stadium Wall
What are you talking about OP? We have been questioning their toughness both physical and mental for a long time. -
Maybe I'm not seeing what you are. The first "drop" could have been a one handed grab but the pass could have been better. He was completely stretched out and just barely got a hand on it. The other plays were pass break ups by the defender. He also made some great grabs and one really nice run after catch.

4 catches for 51 yards. Led the team in receptions. He dropped one pass that he should have caught. Otherwise he was excellent -

Cmon. Many of us have pointed out Beane is far from a wizard. But the Diggs trade was great -

I may have missed it. How did all those 2022 draft picks do tonight? So glad Beane saved all those picks to use on MNF
