This was the year, and the coaches blew it
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Rampage's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agree 100% and we were saying this before the trade deadline. It will be very interesting to see how aggressive Beane and McDermott are, and how much roster turnover happens. -

McD's Bills in postseason: 3-0 at Home, 0-4 Road.
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Artem Lipatov's topic in The Stadium Wall
And Bates sat for most of the year. And Davis got limited snaps early in the year. Teller was traded. PED Murphy played over Lawson. Gilliam on the roster. Sweeney as the only back-up TE. Peterman is just the worst example. The list is rather long of personnel moves that make no sense. Allen was not great but again the defense choked (sound familiar?) and Knox missed a block that Allen would have possibly scored on a QB sweep. -
Has the NFL season ended for anyone else?

I'm the same as you minus the meditation. For me my hobby is woodworking. -

I wish all the JA doubters would own up to it. I own up to my takes that end up being off. Half this board was ready to get rid of him after year 2. I may be wrong about Edmunds but I was right about Allen. Id rather get the QB right; everyone else can be replaced. If McD wins a trophy I will be happy to say I was wrong. But I still believe he is more of an impediment than an asset at this point. -
Qb position who are going to be in the room
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Greatdane21's topic in The Stadium Wall
Why? He didn't do anything this year. He had little interest last year. What team would want him? Bucs if Brady retires? Texans? Just don't see a starting job out there that he would be a good fit. As I write that Giants popped into my head but I think they will draft another QB. They have new GM and new HC, they won't want to be saddled with resurrecting Trubisky's career. -
1. Give McDermott an ultimatum. SB appearance or bust in 2022. Won't happen but I dare to dream. 2. See above. If that means moving on from Frazier, getting someone new, or calling his own defense the defense has to get better. And don't post how can they get better than #1. Everyone is now aware that ranking was a total fraud. 3. Edge rusher - they need a fast twitch guy that is more hybrid DE/OLB to go along with the group they have. Favor a veteran. Von Miller is top of my list. 4. CB#2 - I'd be fine with Wallace on a reasonable deal. If not then I prefer a young guy in the first two rounds. And maybe one reasonably priced veteran for insurance. Jackson should be CB#5 5. TE#2 - my disdain for Gilliam and the lack of progress of Sweeney makes this a priority. They can't go into next season with either of those guys on the roster. 6. OL - depends on where Beane spends his FA dollars. I would be happy with an expensive high end guard, or addressing interior OL in first three rounds. 7. Get younger at backup LB and Safety. Get rid of Mantekavich and Jones and get some young linebackers and safeties to develop. 8. WR - I'm torn here. Davis looks so good but is he a true #2. If Daboll leaves how many 4 and 5 WR sets will they use. Will McKenzie or Beasley be back. If both are gone, then a WR in first three rounds makes sense So in total I'm looking at draft needs of CB, C/G, and probably WR in early rounds. I favor drafting for need and despite what Beane says so does he.

Why wasn't there a spy on Mahomes?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Joe Ferguson's topic in The Stadium Wall
You don't need a spy if they play zone like they usually do. Edmunds effectively becomes the spy covering the middle of the field. Yes Mahommes can move in the pocket, but I don't think there is a single poster on this board that would have said they needed to put a spy on Mahommes before the game was played. That is revisionist thinking. They rushed four got pressure and didn't contain. That is bad execution and maybe bad luck, not coaching. -
Could we be seeing the start of AFC dominance in the SB?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
Still good teams in the NFC. The entire NFC West is tough and Dallas is still a contender. If Rodgers leaves that division is terrible. Tampa has a good team even if Brady retires, but depending on who they replace him with will determine how good they can be. But agree, AFC looks like they have the better and younger QBs. -
Allen declines invitation to play in Pro Bowl

Good!!! Dumb to play that game anyways. -
Denver hiring Nathaniel Hackett as HC
Ethan in Cleveland replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Rodgers is under contract for 2022. He can’t simply retire and then go to Denver. GB would still have his rights. Denver needs to trade for him or GB needs to cut him Adam Gase 2.0. -
Both my sons are in Chicago for college. We made the trip in 2014. OT win with the Fred Jackson stiff arm and Jay Cutler to Kyle INT. Will definitely go to that game. Will Rodgers be in GB? Will Adams? Could we see Allen on Thanksgiving again vs Detroit? Will Cleveland rebound? Who will be the QB for the Steelers? I have a feeling the Bills will seek revenge and really hammer the Steelers and the 10K fans from Pittsburgh that usually show up for that game. Which game could be the Jax equivalent? My guess it will be a division loss to the Jets on the road. My its way too soon prediction 5-1 in the division, loss to Browns, loss to LA... 14-3 and home field advantage in the playoffs

Should the Bills extend Edmunds?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Victory Formation's topic in The Stadium Wall
Says who? He wasn't voted all-pro. He was voted into the ProBowl in the past by the fans. His second ProBowl season was a joke. He was injured and played worse than he did his rookie year. We have no idea what real NFL people think about him. -
If there is one thing this board agrees upon is that Oliver has improved and he played well this year. Is he living up to his draft status, not really but who cares. He is a consistent disruptor. He will never be Aaron Donald, but nobody in NFL history has been either. Pick up his option and then see what happens. He is a top 8-15 DT but I'm sure he will want to get paid like he is a top 5 guy.

Brandon Beane Season Ending Presser Weds 1/27
Ethan in Cleveland replied to cage's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't get it. Why can't he be the backup center just because he is playing? Williams was the back-up RT when he was playing RG? Feliciano was the back-up cneter when he was plying guard. I too would draft a C/G high if they do not address in FA. Most of us advocated that last year instead of Basham. I could see Beane making a big OG signing in FA and leaving the draft for defense and a WR. -
Daboll and Frazier....have they run their course here?!?

Brandon Beane Season Ending Presser Weds 1/27
Ethan in Cleveland replied to cage's topic in The Stadium Wall
Klein was worth the money and I'd be fine with him as a backup LB. You are correct he can start in a 4-3 and he can back up both positions. That said they should add at least one young linebacker in the bottom end of the draft. Mantekevic and Jones are guys that should be replaced with UDFA. Beane no longer has the luxury of wasting money on guys who do a 60 yard sprint as Bass kicks the ball in the endzone. -
Brandon Beane Season Ending Presser Weds 1/27
Ethan in Cleveland replied to cage's topic in The Stadium Wall
Do you really believe they were the #1 defense in the league? Isn't Bates the answer to your first question? He's already on the team and is a restricted FA. Feliciano was ok. He was not terrible. But he will be replaced with a rookie draft pick most likely. -
Brandon Beane Season Ending Presser Weds 1/27
Ethan in Cleveland replied to cage's topic in The Stadium Wall
We know what happened. Epic coaching fail but Beane has no authority to do anything about. -
Are we overplaying this team's chances had we won?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agree. Attacking Brown would have been the gameplan. He was the weakest link in pass protection but Allen would have seen it coming -
Looks like the call to squib may not have made it to Bass
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall
Great to know that an organization that wastes roster spots and tons of cap space on special teams can't get it right in the most important moment. Still the defense choked.
