  1. Didn't McDermott do the same thing? Get the next QB right and they can win again.
  2. McDermott cost Buffalo a SuperBowl. There is no defending him. He either was directly responsible for the strategy or did nothing to stop Frazier. The defense was never as good as the ranking but Allen won the game. McDermott lost it. Anything less than a SB appearance next season and he should be gone. I’d rather take my chances with a hot shot young coordinator than process guy that chokes in the moment.
  3. Agree 100% with this post. Seemed unfair that he lost the Chicago HC job when he did. Yes he had been there a long time but he was fired after a 10 win season. He had 56.3% win rate(McD is 58%) a coach of the year and a DB appearance That said he has been terrible ever since. An uninspiring hire but he does bring experience and he has had some success before. I was/am a Todd Bowles fan. I wanted him instead of Rex. I think he deserves another chance.
  4. Do you think there is a talent difference between pick 25 and 40? There isn't. The only reason to stay in first round is the fifth year extension option. Otherwise I take 4 picks in the top 100 over 3 any day even if that means dropping out of the first round. For what it is worth I think Beane will stay put and take the best CB left on their board. Of that list the only guy worth a contract is Phillips. Mid-season when he was a healthy scratch I though he was gone. But he really played well when Zimmer went down. Good news is there shouldn ot be much of a competitive market for him. Wallace will be too expensive and they can get younger and cheaper in the draft. Zimmer and Boettger were not that good before they were injured. Obada on a veteran minimum maybe but I suspect any UDFA DE can fill his role.
  5. I get the concept but having never actually played, how well does he really know the playbook? Obviously he is in film room reviewing what Allen did but its quite different than actually playing.
  6. Yes you have to pay sometime but other contracts will come off the books like Morse, Addison, Star, and a few others. Sooner or later as you said the young guys have to produce nearly immediately. People talk about a 15 year window with JA. This year and next year was the window. After that his contract kicks in and the window becomes a crease.
  7. 6 games a year against Miami, NYJ, and Pats without Brady. Finally seeing more posters have the courage to speak out about the fraudulent ranking of the defense last year.
  8. Yes but that day is in 2023 not 2022. Draft CB#2 this year. Milano and White can be restructured for cap savings each year. And Edmunds can be traded this year or just let him walk next year. Someone will value him enough to get a good return on a trade.
  9. I have always liked Levi but its time to let him walk. Should net a 5th or maybe even a 4th round comp pick. Let Neal go to and he will help them stay with a net loss of players for the comp pick calculator. My plan: 1. Extend both Poyer and Hyde to create some cap space. Both players are getting old but they have been relatively healthy and as evidenced by the INT against the Pats, Hyde has not lost a step. Keep this tandem together for one more year. 2. Draft CB#2 in the first round. 3. Draft safety in round 4-6 4. Dumpster dive a veteran minimum CB that can either back up nickel or play some safety in a pinch
  10. Epenesa is a bust. He will be a bottom feeder on the roster next year as the 8th or 9th DL and will be a healthy scratch most if the time. He is cheap enough to keep on his rookie deal.
  11. Instead of a lottery, I would set the draft order after week 12. Then there is no incentive to keep losing.
  12. No. The problem with this team is defense and OL. Well its really coaching but that is for a different thread. Allen will make the WRs better. All star QBs do. The issues on offense are the interior OL and TE #2. The issues on defense is Edmunds is overrated and makes no plays, they need another CB#2, they need an underage ang long term fix at DT 1-tech, and a pure edge pass rusher. Want to make a trade with the Seahawks. Trade Edmunds straight up for Wagner.
  13. Yes and no. For the top 15 players sure. After that there isn't much difference for the next 50 or so. And after the first round there are so many trades and comp picks that draft position really doesn't matter. I criticize Beane alot and he deserves criticism for taking Basham and not Humphrey. But getting a starting DE and RT is not terrible. The fact his second round pick barely played is really disappointing. Groot looks ok. Brown looked ok but also looked awful at times. Brown would have never seen the field if Beane's worst bust Cody Ford was playing.
  14. He will be out of the league in 2 years so its not worth me learning his name
  15. Mike White Tua Tyler Heinicke Davis Mills Jacoby Brissett Mac Jones X 3 Lawrence Trevor Siemian Cam Newton Zach Wilson
  16. Gase has done nothing except call plays for Manning when he was at his peak. A halfway decent Madden gamer can do that.
  17. Biggest obstacle to success in 2022 will be McDermott as it was in 2021 What I remember is Wallace was lined up 12 yards off the ball and 3-4 yards wide of Kelce. He had a safety over the top. No way should he have been positioned like that and then drop further only to let Kelce catch the ball right in front of him.
  18. With Trubisky they still wouldn't have a starting QB
  19. Agree. I’m assuming CB in round 1
  20. I just read about this guy. 6'4" and 325 pounds. All kinds of power. Had a standout week at Senior Bowl according to Daniel Jeremiah. Projected as a day 2 pick. Harrison Phillips played his best football down the stretch. But he remains athletically limited. I would love to see a real powerful 1-tech guy lined up next to Oliver. What does the board know about Mr.Jones?
  21. Straight line speed isn't even in my top 5 skills for a RB. 1. Vision 2. Quickness 3. Pass catching/route running 4. Read blocks 5. Ability to break tackles 6. Speed 7. Pass blocking I'd take all of these traits which Thurman excelled at over a straight speed guy like Spiller who had none of these. Thurman is my favorite player of all time though Josh is challenging that with every dramatic moment. Only Marshall Faulk and LaDainian Tomlinson are in his league in my opinion. Both were a little faster than Thurman. Thurman was a better pure pass route runner and receiver as well as a better pass blocker.
  22. The debate will never end. Even if both make the HOF, the story will still begin with Buffalo traded away the pick that became HOF QB for the Chiefs. People still reference the Cousineau traded that ultimately brought Kelly to Buffalo
  23. How did Flores botch Tua any worse than McDermott botched Allen??? Allen could not have been in a worse situation his first two years. I agree he should have kept playing Fitz while they had a shot at the playoffs. Probably lost a fair amount of the locker room. But these guys are pros and everyone of them knows young QBs are going to struggle at times.
  24. Not sure how to feel about it. We have no idea how much Dorsey has been contributing to the game plan and the success. And he has never called games is my understanding, so that will be new. I suspect replacing the OL coach will be equally if not more important to next year's success. It will be interesting to see if he has a running game coordinator to help him. A fresh new perspective vs continuity. Pros and cons either way. Offense is least of my worries. Add an interior linemen or two and an upgrade on TE#2 and the offense will be fine. They have lots of options on how to structure the WR group and as in another thread I'm fine with Singletary as the feature back.
