Most talented player in Bills franchise history?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Special K's topic in The Stadium Wall
Physically and talent wise I agree Allen is better than Kelly in all aspects of the game save one. Deep ball touch and accuracy. Allen still struggles with his deep ball. Allen and Rodgers are probably the greatest deep out or curl patterns QBs of all time. No one has thrown those passes better. But on deep seam, post, or fly patterns Allen still struggles. Kelly dropped those passes in the WR hands on a regular basis. He could hit Lofton on a high arching pass or Reed on a deep cross in perfect stride. -
Sanders for this year alone would be more valuable than Shakir as the primary backup to Davis. He can still play. That said, Shakir is a nice developmental prospect. I wish Hughes was DE#3 but the playing time for Epenesa and Basham will be invaluable this year to evaluate if they are long term options for the Bills.

White is going to miss a quarter of the season at least and was not playing at his usual All-Pro level prior to injury. We have no idea how well he will play when he returns so I would not put him in top 100. Miller I can understand given his age. He is a significant upgrade over Hughes and the best pass rusher Bills have had since Mario Williams. However he's three years removed since his last double digit sack year and he has 17.5 sacks total in the last three years. There might be 4 guys that put up 17.5 sacks this season. That said he was incredible during the Rams playoff run. That is what we need him for. Keep him fresh for the games that will matter most. I've posted several times that Dawkins played his best football ever late last season. He has never been considered an elite LT, but I think he can be considered a top 4-6 LT if he plays at the same level this year. I think he can be a top 100 guy. Morse had nice bounce back year too. If the guard play if better around him this season, he could also elevate into that top 5-7 category.

Beane addresses the 53- man roster decisions
Ethan in Cleveland replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Love how Beane can just make ***** up like wanted a veteran punter, when they had just given the job to a rookie. No one in the media even bothers to say yeah but??? -
Ugh, I put the over/under on Colts wins at 12.5 now. They are the team to beat for top seed. Their division is garbage.
-
My ranking of the elite QBs 1. Allen 2. Rodgers 3. Mahomes 4. Herbert 5. Brady 6. Wilson 7. Burrow There are other guys that can consistently win and a handful of young guys that it is too soon to know how good or bad the will be. I would not be shocked if Brady is off this list by mid-season. He has skill players but now has a suspect o-line. That is not good at his age even with his quick release and ability to slide in the pocket.

13-4 if they play to win the final game. My guess is they have division and home field advantage wrapped up by then. So they may rest guys and finish 12-5. I think only Indianapolis in a division with no competition has a better chance at #1 seed. But I have no faith in Ryan. The North and West teams will cannibalize each other. I would not be shocked if they go 4-3 to start and still finish 13-4.

I'm going to guess they put Stevenson on IR and elevate Austin to 53 when they are first able to do so.

I'd rather see Knox get 1000 receiving yards. I'd be fine if they let Singletary be a true lead back but history suggests a rotation and a healthy Moss will get plenty of carries. Diggs led the league in receptions two years ago. I agree Bills can and should spread the ball around, but that doesn't mean a player can't individually do well too.

Nathan Peterman cut by Bears
Ethan in Cleveland replied to I'm Spartacus's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bad luck? Lol he landed on the only team that was foolish enough to let him start an NFL game -
Lol...glass houses my friend. Remember the WR group Bills had in 2018?? Worst in the NFL

Sweeney makes no sense. Howard was already paid for and he should have been given time to get better. Sweeney does nothing well. If Howard truly can't play fine, but Sweeney can't play either. My feelings on Gilliam are well known. I don't want a FB on the field and I would use an OT as a third TE. I would use Moss in a two backfield set. I'm sorry to rant but Gilliam also does nothing well except know the playbook in multiple spots. He is not a good lead blocker and he is not a threat in the pass game. If they really want a true FB then go get a decent one. I still believe the team puts too much emphasis on Special Teams. I don't understand why they have three guys designated for special teams that have zero ability with their natural position. Why can't they coach up Blackshear, Hodgins, or some other LB to play teams? Those first two guys showed more than Jones and Kumerow have at RB and WR. Ultimately it doesn't really matter. All these guys are bottom of the roster and only the PHK really makes a difference.

With this deep of a roster, those picks should have been traded away for a higher round pick next year. Oh well. Pretty sure every team cuts at least one or more of their draft picks. After round 5 I would say the difference between UDFA and draft pick is negligible.

Pass rush was an issue and was addressed with Miller signing and hopefully Rousseau gets better. For me the issue on offense is just the unknowns. We don't know if Dorsey will be better, the same, or worse than Daboll. We don't know if Davis can step in and be a full time #2. And we don't know who will give the Bills 82 receptions out of the slot. Cook seems like a nice change of pace guy and if White was healthy they probably take OT or WR instead of Elam. Bates and Brown are still question marks on the OL but full of promise. Let's start playing the real games. Allen is good enough to win it all.
-
Honest question. On paper is the offense better, the same, or worse than last year? At this point I’d say the same. Crowder should be ok and Shakir has played well in preseason. Scaffold should be a solid replacement for Williams. The RB group seems better with Cook and a healthy Moss. TE group is a mess again. I had high hopes for Howard and some dynamic two TE sets. For me it will come down to three key things. Is Bates the real deal? Is Davis a true #2? Is Dorsey a competent OC?

They lost Daboll and Sanders too. May not be enough to worry but certainly enough to be concerned.

Matt Araiza accused of rape, served with a lawsuit.
Ethan in Cleveland replied to bill8164's topic in Off the Wall
Right because on-campus rape is so often swiftly dealt with and justice usually prevails. Except it rarely does. Most of the time it goes unreported. And then the schools and the coaches can help cover up the truth. We should applaud her strength in going to the police the next day. -
My take too. Doesn't look like he tries to drive him into the ground. Just a hard hit. I have no idea why the NFLPA doesn't force the NFL owner's hand and ban preseason games. They are worthless. 2020 football without preseason was perfectly fine. You really think Allen and the starters playing 10 plays will make any difference in quality of play? They played pre-season games last year and they stunk against Pittsburgh. Bills best season in terms of offense was 2020. No preseason. It's not needed. They can figure out the roster bottom feeders in practice. With a larger PS it is even less important. They see these guys in practice enough.

Bills show what a class organization they are
Ethan in Cleveland replied to marck's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'd give them an A minus. I I beleive them that they did not know anything at the time of the draft. I still beleive MA told them his side of the story and they never knew the horrific nature of the crime. No way did they do a "thorough" investigation. That is my only issue. That statement was nonsense and made the matter worse. As I posted earlier, what are they supposed to do? The victim is not going to talk to them and the police are under no obligation to share any information. They should have said they made the decision with their understanding of the facts at the time. I'm proud they got rid of him as quickly as they could. I hope justice prevails. If MA's involvement is found to not be criminal and he can resume his career I'm still fine cutting him now. Bills drafted him with what they knew, they cut Haack at the time with what they knew, and now they are making the best decision in the moment. If they turn out to be wrong so be it. It's a job not a court. On another note, I still want to know if SDSU impeded the investigation and why it is taking so long for police/DA to make a decision to charge MA mad others. -
Ex-Bill Robert Foster out for the season.
Ethan in Cleveland replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall
Figured that would happen. Gives him the chance to heal and sign with another team later this year. -
Our new punter will be (Update pg. 38 - Martin Signed)
Ethan in Cleveland replied to JMM's topic in The Stadium Wall
May not be NFL punishment, but when he is cut later today and not signed by any other team it will be just the same Give Cleveland a 7th for Corey now and be done with this nightmare Gone forever sounds good to me
