9/25/22 Gameday Bills at Dolphins Pregame Thread
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bates was the best guard on the team last season and didn't start until week 10. I think you give these guys too much credit as if they always make the right decision. Good opportunity for Roten to show he can play. -
Bills transactions today - signings and call ups

I would say Basham is bigger and wider. He can drop inside and Lawson can play outside. Honestly either probably can. Of the backups I would say Epenesa is the only guy that is an edge only. -

By the middle of the second quarter they will bench Roten and you will see a shuffle of the OL. Bates is the best backup C on the team. When Feliciano was the starting guard he was the back up center. They switch multiple positions all the time. -

That is awful. He was terrible last week in limited action. -

This sucks. Morse being out really impairs the offense. I'd prefer they move Bates to center and play Quessenbury at guard. -
I understand what you are saying but that logic doesn't really work. That would be akin to saying Barkley has been in the same QB room for three years and can function well in relief of Allen. The only real reason people are optimistic is because they are unknowns. We don't know how they are going to play so people are assuming just because Hyde and Poyer developed in McD's system so will these other guys. They very well may and then even more kudos to McD and Frazier for coaching them up. Tomorrow will be a great test. Beane failed to get Von Miller last year to put us over the top. We need to see if these kids are good enough or if Beane needs to make a move. All in this year no matter the cost.

Honest question, for those posting Johnson and Hamlin will be fine. What are you basing that on? Hyde and Poyer have barely left the field in the last four years. There is very little game tape for any of the back up safeties. For a few years, Neal was the 3rd safety. I'm not saying they can't play well, I just don't understand all the posts that say the defense will be fine or that the backups will play well.

Any chance they move Poyer to FS and they try the linebacker Bernard at SS? He's tiny but supposedly quick.

Micah to IR (out for the year per his agent)
Ethan in Cleveland replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
Really? Old veteran in the last year of his deal coming off a major injury? Those guys get cut all the time. Maybe he comes back but the odds are against it. -

He's done as a Bill. Sad news. He was already a guy that may have been on the cap casualty list for this offseason. No way are they keeping him now. Safeties are like RBs. They are a dime a dozen and only a few teams are overpaying for them - Steelers and Seahawks. Bills got there two starting safeties on the cheap in the past and they will do the same thing this off season. Very sad way to end his Bills career but my guess is he played his last game in Bills uniform this past Monday. -
https://www.waldrn.com/how-the-nfls-2008-rule-change-affected-coin-toss-strategy/ According to this article, Bills are one of the top 3 teams that elect to defer. The win percentage difference is practically negligible. Win percentage was 52% if you win the toss and elect to defer vs 50.8% if you win toss and elect to receive. The data is just through 2018 but it is a large sample size. As Shakespeare would say it is Much ado about Nothing.

I thought that bias was mostly driven by west coast teams flying east and playing for them 10am games. Obviously a million other variables to consider.

Micah Hyde seeking 2nd opinion on neck injury
Ethan in Cleveland replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
It depends on what the Bills want to do. If they cut him his dead cap is over $7M for 2023. My guess is they would try to do an injury settlement and keep him on the roster on IR for 2023 and then retire before 2024 season. Think this is what Eric Wood and Kam Chancellor did. -
Mitch sucked on that last three plays

Hail Mary or 5 yard out??? I say 5 yard out and try a FG.

I've been watching him too. Definitely has been hit and miss
