Isaiah Hodgins claimed off waivers by Giants
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
I wonder if they called Giants first to see if they could get a 7th. Giants have to be in top 6 or 7 on the waiver wire order so at least 3/4th of the league didn't think enough of him to claim on waivers. -
So I don't get it. Are you then saying they just don't run the same play enough? Kelce scores on the little shovel pass from Mahommes almost 100% of the time, but that doesn't mean they run it every game. Have to keep the opposing defense guessing. You can run a similar scheme but from a different formation too. Or you can score multiple ways. The little WR screen to Diggs worked great last year. I have not seen them run that this year that I recall. But this year he has already caught two TD passes on RPO's. Fans get all caught up in play calling when 90% of it is execution. Run the ball better in the red-zone and that will open the passing game too.

Didn't they run the exact play against the Packers that Knox scored ???

Long day at work Nice job by Beane. Traded away a guy that was going to get cut at the end of the year for a player that may produce this year. Well done.

No worries. Poyer will be fine and White/Hamlin will be fine at the other safety spot. Go Bills!

Fields is getting better. This season he has had 2-3 really bad games and 2-3 solid games. His second year completion percentage is the same that Allen had. His rookie QB rating was far better than Allen's. I had him as the best prospect in that class even over Lawrence. Fields is playing with no supporting cast. Claypool will help. Only time will tell if he can make the leap that Allen did his third year.

Is There So Little Love for Tremaine Edmunds?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall
Interesting comparison. Fletcher had 5 INT in 5 yrs to go with 5 forced fumbles and 14.5 sacks. So far in 4 1/2 season Edmunds has 4 INT, only 2 FF, and 6.5 sacks. Fits the narrative that Edmunds just doesn't make that many game changing plays. I know different eras/schemes and all those arguments.... For the record Fletcher continued to create turnovers in WAS, with a combined 21 INT and FF in 7 years. Good post. One could argue he started as a rookie so if they draft a guy in rounds 1 or 2 there is a good chance he would start immediately in his place. I'm sure Milano could call the defense and I'm pretty sure just relaying the play call from Frazier is not that critical. As most agree it's all about the price tag. -

I'm guilty of at the same time assessing his play and also figuring out the math on signing with Buffalo again. He is going to want to be paid as a top 3 LB if not the highest. If he was brought back at the 10th highest I'm not sure many on this board would be opposed. However I think only a few people on here if any see him as a top 3 LB in this league. I guess Beane and McD will have to decide is it worth paying him top dollar for what he does do for the team. A five year extension doesn't even get him to age 30. They have the chance to lock up a captain and centerpiece of the defense for another half decade of his peak years. If they do who goes? You probably lose both Hyde and Poyer which at their age and coming off injuries seems inevitable now. Restructure Allen, White, Morse, and Miller and there probably is enough to sign Edmunds and play Oliver on his 5th year extension. -

Nobody expects Edmunds to be perfect. Milano made plays later in the game. Edmunds did not. Those of us who are Edmunds skeptics have praised his play up until GB. Why can't the Edmunds apologists criticize him when he plays poorly? -

You saw what most of us saw. It was his worst game of the season. He was the worst defender on the field until Poyer left and was replaced by Johnson. He was out of position most of the night. He really looked lost defending the run. Where Milano and other great linebackers shoot gaps and get underneath blocks, Edmunds can’t disengage from his blocker. He had a couple of ok plays on underneath passes where he made the tackle with no YAC. I agreed with picking up his option. If this is his worst game of the year and he rebounds back to how he played earlier then I’d be fine with an extension. I won’t shed a tear getting a 3 round comp pick for him either.- 495 replies

I'm still in the camp of Benford or White to safety largely depending on how White has recovered. Milano is too slow for safety and he is playing like an All-Pro now. No way he moves.

Tenn tried that with one of the best RB's in the league and it didn't work. It was an off night for the Bills D. We will see if Edmunds just had a bad game or if he regresses back to his two years of bad football. Jets have Garrett Wilson who is better than any WR the Packers had last night. Jets should try to stay balanced. Just don't see them able to sustain drives running the ball like the Packers did last night.

The fail occurred last season when he should have traded for Von Miller. Bills probably win the SuperBowl last season if he did. Many on here were advocating for it back then. This year no moves are needed. He set the roster up well enough in the off-season. The roster is loaded and they just went 6-1 and should really be 7-0. They have the best QB in the NFL, a top 3 WR, and a very good defense. What impact player are you going to get with $1.6M in in cap space? I'm sorry who is the bonified #2 WR you are getting in addition to OBJ? Because it has been a long time since OBJ was a good WR and he is coming off another ACL tear. OBJ is click bait. He will be lucky to make any roster this season let alone make an impact.

Defense vs Green Bay and their performance
Ethan in Cleveland replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall
Getting gashed on the ground in a game or two happens almost every year to this McD defense. Its really hard to explain. Go back to year 1 and the Saints, last year against the Colts and Patriots, and now this game. He usually gets things corrected and they have had some great rush defense games too. -
I will continue with your NBA analogy. NBA is all about matchups. Eagles have #1 pass defense in yards and #2 by YPA. Eagles have a QB with super high completion percentage, a big oline, and are decent at running the ball. All those factors could be matchup problems for Bills and KC. Like the Bills last year, the Eagles have faced some really bad QBs. So is their defensive ranking real or not???? Buffalo and KC still seem like the better team but I would not discount the Eagles so quickly.

The Bills won last night because.... (karma reasons only)

I wore my Knox socks! -
Quinn had 18.5 sacks last season. Agree Miller is better and Quinn is having a down year. But if Buffalo traded for him you would be excited he was added to the team. 49ers are far more than CMC, but I Agree Bills and Chiefs are both better.

Coordinators not adapting schemes
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Back2Buff's topic in The Stadium Wall
Here is why. Taron Johnson is a better football player than any of the backup linebackers. If they had kept Klein I suspect you may have seen more 4-3 played. -
Poyer elbow injury (update: “day-to-day”)
Ethan in Cleveland replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
That is a more accurate description of what they did. They also played Poyer and Hyde in the box more with White. Now they are two deep the vast majority of the time. That is much harder to do than you think. You are correct but its very hard to do and even the best turn and run with the WR especially that far down field. -
Poyer elbow injury (update: “day-to-day”)
Ethan in Cleveland replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Ok that rarely happened. White played his side of the field. It was only a few rare games that he lined exclusively against an opponents top target. -

Hamlin is in for Hyde. Johnson and Neal have not played well at safety. They need Poyer back and healthy down the stretch.
