  1. Good move Trade Oliver away and draft a DT with actual size.
  2. These guys can't mock the first 7 picks let alone 7 rounds
  3. Good point. I'm sure he will have the new guy - Holcomb was his name I think, to help with in game review and adjustments.
  4. As soon as Frazier stepped down I wanted McD calling the defense. First I want him to succeed and have a positive impact calling the plays. But I also want no excuses if the D falters. We still don't know who is ultimately responsible for 13 seconds as McD called TO before each play and almost assuredly had some input into the strategy to defend against a TD instead of a FG. Last season the D was decimated by injuries. Hopefully they are healthy this year. No excuse about a first time coordinator not getting the job done. I have no worries about McD not being able to manage the game and call the D. While I am skeptical he is the guy to win it all, he's bright and I'm sure can multitask.
  5. Tannenbaum is another former terrible GM that somehow is an analyst. This idiot drafted Vernon Gholston who is on most short lists for worst draft picks of all time. He has a 25 year old QB coming off a torn ACL as the 5th pick in the draft - Hendon Hooker. Assuming he can't play year one, that would make him a 27 year old first time player in 2024.
  6. Live through 4 SB losses, 17 years and 13 seconds and the panic is justified.
  7. Get younger and cheaper at a position that is easy to learn and where youth dominates.
  8. He's more likely to be a cheap training camp body. But hey every team has their Jason Peters. Maybe one of these nobodys becomes a solid starter.
  9. That would truly be sad. Guy is 6 ft 224. That's like playing Coy Wire at MLB.
  10. OP you are correct. Only one team wins a Championship per year. However it is interesting that the QBs you referenced in the OP all have Championships. Bills and Allen don't have one yet. Thus the anxiety of a window closing or not knowing if McDermott and Beane are good enough to win a Championship.
  11. Nice write up. I'm too busy to look it up so I will just ask you. I've never heard of the top 35% rule. I know that only UFA are eligible to be counted. I thought the size of the contract only mattered in determining the round that the comp pick is awarded. I thought all you needed to be is net negative in the number of free agents signed/lost. Is the 35% rule by position? Because it doesn't make a lot of sense as obviously QB, LT, WR, and DE make so much more than other positions. Also what period of time is used for the 35%. The entire contract? That, makes no sense as there are so many bonuses included in contracts in the later years. The year they lost out on a Gilmore comp pick the scrubs that they signed could not have had contracts in the top 35%. They were all street level free agents there were just too many of them. Any how, at this point I must assume Beane knows the rules and if he blows it again he should really explain what the hell. Like this safety they just signed. Could that not have waited until after the draft when you say the counting stops??
  12. With this signing and many signs pointing that Hamlin will be back, have to think safety is off the table for the draft. Now MLB and puke in my mouth DL again will probably be chosen with two of the top 4 picks. I can live with that if they still get WR and OT in the first three rounds. They seem to have done enough to address IOL in free agency. Still need an OT to push Brown and possibly be Dawkins replacement in 2024.
  13. That doesn't make sense and is actually opposite. A roster rebuild would actually favor Beane and McDermott playing more of their own draft picks. Isn't that the job of the coaching staff to teach them? The Chiefs' rookies had no problem getting playing time.
  14. Seattle made the playoffs last year, and you can argue has an easier path to the Superbowl in the NFC than in the AFC. This sucks. He would have been a star in the middle for a championship run. Best option now is to drop out of the first round. Get an extra second round pick and draft a new MLB If McDermott decides Bernard is the heir apparent I can't wait for the McDermott apologists to try and defend that move.
  15. I think you meant Von Miller in 2021
  16. Unpopular NFL take I would eliminate all Preseason games. COVID year showed they are completely unnecessary. College has no preseason . Yes many teams play cupcakes for their first game but even some of the top teams have big time games as the season opener. I would compromise to 1 Preseason game and I would not play a single starter. And if I was a top player, I would refuse to play in any preseason game. I would even negotiate that into my contract.
  17. 1. Beane and McDermott would both have been fired if Browns or Jets take Allen. Allen has saved their jobs and they have in turn cost us at least one Championship 2. Allen played poorly last year. Multiple red zone turnovers. Failed to take what defense was giving him most of the year. Maybe it was the elbow but he was playing like garbage in the Jets game before the injury. He has to be more conservative and less careless with the football this year. 3. Knox is an elite TE held back by two OCs that have not featured him enough. Knox can easily get 75 catches, 900 yards, and 7 TD if used properly. Best TE in franchise history.
  18. 100% agree. I think it was yet another bad weather game , Hamlin coming to the locker room, Josh running for his life and the players knowing they were outcoached. They had enough Josh included.
  19. Almost correct. He didn't suck but he was bad against the run and didn't make any plays. The best you could say is maybe he made a difference in the pass game. For years we heard Edmunds defenders say how important he was. Well now look a defensive minded HC just let him walk. Maybe just maybe we hearty few that called out his bad play for years were correct!
  20. Happens all the time to the best teams. Seattle let Wagner walk. Jets let Revis go. Bills let Gilmore go. Endless examples. You just have to rebuild. Probably so. Then he is better to keep one more year.
  21. Three options 1. Trade Oliver for a 2nd and draft another DT. They don't have the draft capital to spend on a DT at this point. 2. Sign Wagner to play MLB. Keep Oliver on the 5th year. Burn one of your draft picks on a DT. 3. Assuming no veteran MLB is signed, bring back Phillips or some other journeyman for the 4th DT and let Oliver play out his contract like they did with Edmunds. Draft a LB this year to replace Edmunds and draft DT in 2024. Only one of the first 4 picks should be used for defense. 3b. Trade out of the first round and get two day 2 picks. This allows you to get MLB, DT, WR, OT, C/G in the first four rounds in no particular order.
  22. Brady taking less is so overblown. He was always paid in the top three or four QBs he was just never the top paid guy. Ans that was mainly because he had contemporaries like Manning and Breese who were of near equal HOF status. Yes that saved them a few dollars in cap money but not really that much. Bills will soon be no different. Allen is already below Mahommes and within two years Herbert and Burrow will both be making more.
