Rd 7, Pick 230: G Nick Broeker, Mississippi
Ethan in Cleveland replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes but 6 of them are day three. Most won't make the team. No way he drafts 10 guys. Knowing Beane's history he will probably use one of the threes or the fourth rounder to move up in the 1st or second round. Ideally he packages a couple of those day three picks for higher rounds in 2025. If Torrence starts Bates is your swing OT and backup C as well. -

He should have been more horrified watching Brown pass block. Nothing to address OT. At some point you just have to live with some warts. -

Like I said he will have a hard time making the roster. But I love the investment in the OL. If he can pass block in the SEC he may be ok in the NFL. Will push Edwards and Boettger for a final roster spot and then be a 17 week inactive if everyone stays healthy. -

If he is good enough to make the roster, maybe you can move Dane Jackson for a DT or Edge. As another said, maybe it is between him and Cam Lewis for final DB spot. -

Bates can play center but I don't think we have another guy on the team that can play center. Edwards may have taken a few snaps at C but I don't know that he even makes the roster. My guess is Morse plays this year and Bates is your C in 2024 Short arms even for a guard. No way he play OT in NFL -

Anderson and Tenuta the last two late round OL did not make the roster. This guy will have an uphill battle to make it too -
What does our O-Line look like now?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bates can play OT. Doyle was awful before the knee. He is done. Bates is the perfect utility tool. In a perfect world Torrence starts at RG and McGovern is good enough to beat out Bates at LG. Then you get one more year out of Morse and Bates is your starting C in 2024. Unfortunately at this point it is Brown or bust at RT. The run on quality OTs hurt the Bills options. Next year they may need to draft two OTs if Dawkins regressed further and Brown doesn't get better. -
If he was in house alreadt why did they draft an ILB in the 3rd round?

LIVE ***NFL Draft, Day 3, coverage at noon.
Ethan in Cleveland replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall
It does but not what Beane did. All he did was get a 7th this year who won't make the team and a 6th next year. Dumb. If he swapped a 6th now for a 5th next year that would have been ok. -

RD 3, Pick 91: LB Dorian Williams, Tulane
Ethan in Cleveland replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think it depends on the position. A WR, a RB, DB, and a DL can likely contribute significantly as a rookie even if not starting. That's because they rotate the starters heavily. A backup OG almost never plays. A backup OLB if that is where Williams will play in our defense will almost never see the field. -

After more thought I'm thinking I dislike this pick. I was begrudgingly ok with another small ILB with the idea he would split time with Klein. But now I read Beane supposedly said he will play OLB. When? Milano never leaves the field. They almost never play 4-3. I guess you can play Milano at MLB in the nickel. He's had some snaps there before. Seems like a waste for the third round. Also it makes me even more sick that Beane thinks Bernard or Spector can compete for the MLB spot. Hope I'm wrong and we get more out of him in 2023 than they did from Bernard in 2022. -

Analyzing 10 years of first round TE production
Ethan in Cleveland replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
He's not going to play TE. He is going to be a standup WR in the slot that will tower over every nickel CB, S and LB he faces. -

Where did you read that? Everything I read is that he drops a lot of balls and makes body catches. In fact if you look at those highlights earlier in the thread he never highpoints the ball. He lets it come into his body. Can't teach size though But hopefully you can teach him how to catch. -

Anybody going to try and justify this pick as BPA? -

Bills trying to set the record for dropped balls in a season. Holy hell this guy is big but supposedly can't catch. -

Some insight on Bills first round and how it went down
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall
If this was the only trade down opportunity then I agree with what Beane did. Dropping 14 spots was too far to only pick up a third. If the team had fewer holes, you can do that and get a 2nd in 2024. Only trade back that would have made sense was in the top 5 of the second round that would have also given you a top 5 in the 3rd round. Then the Bills would have had 4 picks from say somewhere between 34 to 91. That nets you one more top player and probably still gets you a WR, an OG, a better ILB prospect, and an OT or an edge. -
Epenesa and Basham must be the happiest guys on the roster. Neither are worthy of a roster spot yet the Bills have done nothing to address the edge situation. Hopefully they can add a veteran post June 1 on a 1 year deal and move on from these two busts. Still hate the fact we have a FB on the roster. Wasted roster and cap space in my mind. But I can't see that changing this year. With Kincaid being added I would get rid of Morris and go with just two TEs again. I'd rather use the extra roster spot to let one of these small LBs play STs, occasional 4-3 sets, or play some big-nickel. I think the final roster decisions will come down to how many safeties they want to keep on the roster. I had Benson moving to S this year but it doesn't look like that will happen. Now we have a bit of a glut at CB. If White doesn't rebound fully he may be a cap casualty for 2024. Probably too soon to think about it, but maybe Dane Jackson is a trade possibility?

If what you are saying is true about a trade back then I think Beane should have done that. By not moving back it forced another reach on a small ILB in the third round. Assuming they trade back into the top of the second round and picked up a 3rd it would have been worth it. In that scenario they still get a TE, they probably get an OT instead of an OG, and they add an edge or DT in the first 100 picks. All that said, Kincaid if used properly should help right away and a fourth round talent might not even make the roster at this point unless you part ways with Basham or Epenesa.

RD 3, Pick 91: LB Dorian Williams, Tulane

13 seconds was McDermott not Frazier and we all know it. Don't want to argue it anymore but the D has collapsed in every playoff loss going back to the Texans. McD can't hide from it any longer. It is his defense entirely now. -

Let the smurfs play the passing down and distance situations and let Klein play the run downs. Maybe even mix some 4-3 looks and blitz these guys more. -
Fair points. I'm a cardiologist not a sports med or orthopedic guy so I can't really refute this idea that the short to intermediate throws were somehow harder. Yet I can't think of any reason why they would be. Regardless it's on to next season and hopefully Josh is just a bit cleaner with the ball.
