If he was good you would be correct. But he is not. He is not a good blocking FB. He is not a good pass threat. And despite people saying he is the third TE, I can not recall a single play last year that he lined up as third TE. I admit I could be wrong about the third point. I actually like FBs like Sam Gash that are a legit threat in the pass game. Don't care about their run blocking. The college game never uses a FB and the NFL game is getting closer to that as well. -

It's incredibly poor cap management. He is a vet minimum guy at best if you want him on the team. Last year they had Sweeney who was useless and didn't dress most of the year. This year if they keep Morris they will have three TEs that dress on game day. No room for a FB in that scenario. Much better to dress an extra OL, WR, or DB. A backup guard can play full back in the goal line situation. Kincaid can line up there which he can then be an actual threat in the pass game with or without motion. There was a time and a place for a great fullback. That time is gone and Gilliam is not great at anything. -

He will be on the roster but he should absolutely not be on the roster. I would much rather carry three TE's or an extra OL than a FB. He is overpaid and a relic of times gone by. -

Get rid of the fullback and keep an extra WR -
Yes they serve no purpose for the starters. They are running vanilla plays against vanilla defenses. How does that help you prepare for the Jets??? Maybe it might help you choose guy 55 over guy 51 on the roster. But who cares about them. They are bottom of the roster players that are interchangeable with many PS level guys around the league. Yes in practice. Covid year proved they are useless It's not a surprise. Its the standard operating procedure. Doesn't make it the right decision just because its what most teams do.

The local media is also reporting Watson is terrible in practice. He has been throwing a ton of picks especially in the joint practices with the Eagles. Schwartz can make them a #1 defense. But Watson is absolute trash. He was awful in the six games last year. He is fully guaranteed. All he needs to to do is show up and look like he cares and he gets paid. He is going to get the entire Browns regime fired by mid-season. He has also blocked all the local media guys from his Twitter account. Maybe that is not uncommon. I really don't know because I don't follow Twitter, but it did seem incredibly thin skinned. Watson to Browns will surpass Walker to Vikings and Haynesworth to Washington as worst trade/contract in NFL history

Baltimore Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith hosting jersey swap

In fairness, at least you had a Price jersey for when he came back to the Bills in 2006 -
Patrick Queen: Would you trade a late rounder for him?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Rigotz's topic in The Stadium Wall
My prediction is at some point in this season Milano and Williams will be the two starting linebackers switching between MLB and OLB. They are probably the two best athletes at the position. The Bernard pick was so bad and because Beane invested a 3rd round pick he was not going to sign a credible veteran to compete for the job. -
Terrible news. He was a Buffalo icon

Brandon Shell Reportedly Intends to Retire
Ethan in Cleveland replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agree. But they do also run a lot of screens in college. Makes you wonder why the Bills OL can't block for a screen for the last decade. -

Dam. I thought that was a sneaky good signing by Beane that would push Brown for a starting spot. At this point, they really have no other choice but to hope Brown gets better. This is the reason why drafting smurf linebackers in back to back third rounds is such a waste. That could have been two OTs to develop. Instead we are stuck with Doyle who looked terrible before the injury. -
I see what you are trying to say but I don’t think the role of the backup QB is seen that way. The reality is if Allen goes down for an extended period of time the season is lost. What you want your backup QB to do is to be able to execute a small subset of the offense at a high level and then be able to come in when needed. Think Henne with the Chiefs coming in for an injured Mahommes in the playoffs. They get minimal practice reps. What you are describing is what Baltimore has with Tyler Huntley. Yes he is mobile like Lamar Jackson but he is not capable of running the rest of the offense. I actually think Foles would be a good idea and an upgrade over the Bills current backups Bridgewater signed with Detroit.

Tommy Doyle INJURY ????????????????????????????
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Snappysnackcakes's topic in The Stadium Wall
If Torrence starts at guard, there is zero chance Doyle is on the team. There was only a tiny chance to begin with. Bates is the backup center in that scenario. Bates also can play OT in a pinch. Hell he is probably better than Q. -
This logic is not unreasonable but not necessarily accurate either. Shakir took snaps at outside WR at Boise and lined up outside at times late year too. I haven't followed camp that much to know if he is getting any reps outside in 7 on 7, so perhaps you are correct. But I think he can play enough outside WR that it will come down to is he a top 6 wr or not. If he is then he will make the roster.

Well done! He was not hesitant to run inside last year. He seems to have good vision and balance which is critical. Looks like a slightly thinner version of Shady at times. Hopefully he can add 10 pounds over time to sustain the hits.

Technically the prior post is correct. Hamlin suffered sudden cardiac death. He had return of circulation with CPR and obviously he did not suffer brain death.

1. KC 2. Cinci 3. Phil 4. Buf 5. Dal Chargers, Miami, Browns I left off Jets because I think Rodgers is done. Ledt out San Fran becuase their QB situation is amongst worst in the league. I like Dak and Dallas more than others and they are my SuperBowl NFC pick. I also like Herbert and Chargers more than most. I added Browns. They have enough talent to challenge Cinci for the division but if Watson plays like he did last six games of last year, they will be lucky to win 5 games and their HC will be first one fired.

Game Day Thread? Colts @ Bills
Ethan in Cleveland replied to EmotionallyUnstable's topic in The Stadium Wall
Lol. I've been a proponent of no preseason games for decades. And I was proven right during the COVID season. Quality of play was no different without preseason games. No reason to let multimillionaire assets risk injury for a meaningless game. -

Best thing that can happen is a lightning storm cancels the game ensuring no injuries.
