I never said wall of fame. Agree his tenure wasnt long enough. That would be like putting Bryce Paup on the wall of fame. The question was, was Diggs good? And we seem to agree he was great while here. We are quibbling over the era argument. You are correct but that only means that 88 catches in 1988 was amazing while its not that great in 2022. However when you compare to peers at the time the era doesn't matter. Lots of other teams at the time where run first too, like Dallas with Smith.

The different era argument doesn't really hold water. Compared to their peers at the time Diggs was more dominant than Reed ever was. Tim Brown had 9 seasons in a row over 1000 yards. Irvin 7 of 8 seasons in a row with over a thousand yards and the one season he did not he played in only 11 games and still had 962. Reed never led the league in receptions or yards. Diggs did both. I'm not trying to disparage the greatness that Andre Reed was. His run after catch and toughness are legendary. However what Diggs did in three years in Buffalo was extraordinary regardless of era or scheme.

100% agree. Put him on IR for the year. He is on the roster for 2026 not this year.

McDermott - "Still looking for that other safety"
Ethan in Cleveland replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
Beane drafted Hamlin and Johnson and I beleive at least one other guy to develop. And of course brought in Rapp. He tried. Beane wastes a pick or two every year moving up for a player. Maybe that explains lack of depth at certain places. As for Milano, he drafted two LBs in Williams and Bernard that could both play his spot while still waiting to see if Edmunds coudl play. Dont recall other LBs before that. Also had Kleine and Spector. So they had some depth along the way. The reality is there is often a significant drop off from starter to 2nd team. It's not like college where there is just another 4 or 5 star recruit waiting his turn. -
In hindsight of course they would have. Great WR on a rookie deal would have been amazing. But the trade was the second best move Beane has done as GM. Andre never even had back to back 1000 yard seasons. He was a great player but the excellence we saw at WR with Diggs for three years is better than any other three year period in franchise history.

Bills hosting Gabe Davis for visit
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'd rather see Cooper back. So should Beane call and apologize to the radio guys he yelled at? Seems they were right about WR. -
James Lofton YPG and TD/game was better than Reed's too. 8 TDs in only 9 Bills playoff games. Belichick specifically designed a defense to take away Reed. Probably lots of playoff defenses target the #1 WR. Doesn't mean Lofton was better than Reed or Davis was a better WR than Diggs. If anything it means Kelly and Allen were mostly ( Allen >>>> Kelly) willing to take what the defense was giving. 100% agree with this. If Moulds had Kelly or Allen for most of his career he would have been compared with TO. Both with great size and speed. In terms of WR skill, it is Moulds, Diggs, Reed, Lofton, Butler in that order for me. Obviously that is not production but if you asked who are the most skilled WRs to play on Bills. Im leaving TO off as he was only here a short time at end of career.

Stefon Diggs in 9 playoff games with the Bills had 47 (5.1/game) receptions for 600(66.7/game) yards and 2 TD. Andre Reed in 21 playoff games had 85(4.2/game) receptions for 1229 yards (58/game) and 3 TDs So Diggs per playoff game stats are better in every category than the most productive WR in Bills history. Please go ahead and spin your narrative (different era, 80's teams had other options, Kelly not as good as Allen etc etc etc) to contradict my facts. I have too much to do but I'm going to guess most great WRs have lesser stats in the playoffs when they are playing the best teams. So yeah Diggs was absolutely amazing! His tenure with the Bills is the best 3 seasons of WR play in franchise history. You can hate his personality but please do not diminish what he did on the field.

How good was Randy Moss? Well he had one season over 1300 yards with Brady, and 5 season over 1300 yards with Duante Culpepper. So I guess the real question is who is really the GOAT? Looks like Culpepper is much better than Brady and Allen. Wow I didnt know Diggs played defense too? Who was he covering with 13 seconds left to play?

Preseason - Around the League
Ethan in Cleveland replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is correct. Pickett has been injured the whole training camp so it was never a competition and he is garbage. Question will be do they get a 7th round draft pick or just cut him outright. Most people think Flacco starts for 4 to 6 weeks and after they start winless they turn it over to the rookies. People forget Flacco sucked last year and when he had his little run with the Browns he led the league in INT/attempt. -
Kyle Dugger….Possible trade/cut candidate

Isn't that the reality TV guy convicted of child porn? I mean we are desperate for a safety but I dont think so desperate to want to see a guy fondling the WRs after a tackle... -

If you are cutting Hamlin, do it now...
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall
Minkah Fitzpatrick was traded on Sept 16th the year he went to the Dolphins. There are always options. Im really not convinced Hamlin is good enough for any NFL roster let alone starting on the Bills. Plenty of draft ammo. Make a move. -
Does there need to be a rethinking of the basic D?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to oldmanfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Really? What stats? 27th in sacks(8) last year. 25 total in 4 years. Ok I should have said struggles to be a consistent average starter. He flashes at times and then disappears for large portions of the season. Doesn't mean he can't get better. Having a better DE on the other side will help. I 100% agreed with picking up his option and the contract extension he got was fair for both sides. All love man! -
THIS BILLS TEAM NEEDS TO WATCH ROCKY 3 NOW!!!!!

Tell Beane, "there is no tomorrow". Start using those draft picks to get a decent safety and another pass rusher. -
Totally bullish! It's ok to discuss the weaknesses of the team without thinking they are falling off a cliff. Not sure why the board can't comprehend this. With Allen they can compete with anyone. I still like a lot of the off-season moves. Yes safety and CB remain an issue. We would all feel a lot better if Hairston was looking like a lock down first round draft pick. Lots to worry about with White and the current group of safeties, but the pass rush can be better. Milano and Bernard are healthy. Bring on the Ravens!

Ethan in Cleveland replied to oldmanfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Oh I 100% agree. Beane is trying and hopefully Bosa stays healthy. Go ahead Take the bait. I will start. Over under - Did he fall down more times in the championship game than he had total sacks last year? He is terribly inconsistent. He is not a bad player but he is not great. Thus average. -
If you are cutting Hamlin, do it now...
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall
Um he was bad last year. Its not an overreaction to yesterday. It's a rationale evaluation of a player not good enough to play but has an emotional tie to the coach, his teammates, and the community. Its time to move on -

As the leader of the anti-McD contingent on here this is going to sound odd. But the scheme is not nearly as big a problem as the personnel. My main issue has always been the lack of size in the front 7. All across the front 7 they are outmuscled. Look at Eagles DL compared to the Bills. It's a joke. Sadly the only guy that had size was Edmunds and he had the instincts of a dung beetle. The other issues obviously is that Beane and McDermott have consistently failed to find a dominant pass rusher. They failed to get Miller a year early. The draft has mostly been a disappointment. Oliver and Rousseau struggle to be average starters in the NFL. They need a dominant pass rusher. There are ways to get one, if Beane is willing to mortgage the future. -
There will be an incredible amount of emotion around cutting Hamlin. He's just terrible and its obvious he needs to go. He's a wonderful survival story and he turned a terrible near tragedy into an amazing positive national story and education opportunity. It's time to move on though. Bills can not afford the distraction of cutting him after the next game and in the leadup to week 1. Do it tomorrow or Tuesday. Then start working the phones and move a reserve OL for a backup safety that at least belongs in the NFL.

Preseason Week 2 Bills at Bears - Game thread
Ethan in Cleveland replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
Again no one in their right mind cares about how the team did. It was about depth player development and keeping starters healthy. Even McD said the back ups basically sucked. Bishop sucked. Hamlin sucked. Hancock made a few plays. This game pretty much affirms what many of us have been saying for a long time. The S spot is an absolute mess. To go from Poyer and Hyde to this is awful. This is the week to say goodbye to Hamlin. Get the emotion out of it now not the week of the Baltimore game. Bring back Douglas at least until Hairston is healthy. A week one CB room of White, Benford, Jackson, Strong and Codrington is a recipe for disaster. It was still 7-0 when most of the Bears starters were out. So I think what people are saying is that it was not Bears starters 28 - Bills backups 0. Again no one cares about the score. its the play of guys like Jackson and Hamlin and the rooke DL that is very concerning. -

People are not overreacting to what is happening. They are analyzing our backups many of which are projected to make the final 53 playing horribly. Guys that might need to play meaningful minutes are performing very poorly. Also seeing rookies get time against actual NFL players, not just a bunch of college kids. -

Why? The purpose is to see if these 2nd and 3rd stringers can play. So far it looks brutal
