  1. Good move. Still relatively cheap for a guy that can be a low end starter. I wonder if in camp they give him and Elam some reps at nickel. I dont think Johnson is going anywhere but if he went down for an extended length of time I would want to know if either of those guys can play inside.
  2. Dam that is bleak even for some of us contrarians. Let's take each listed spot RB - dime a dozen. They have Cook and Hines already. They may yet get a Williams but honestly a 3rd day RB in the draft would be fine. Cook already took the starting role down the stretch. Hell Singletary market may be so dry he might even be an option to come back. WR - no argument there. They need another WR to go with Diggs and Davis. I'm higher on Davis than most but not as high on Shakir as most. I've been a huge Knox for for years. He should be the true #2 target but that may take a new OC. G - already signed a Saffold replacement that should be better in pass protection. Move Bates to LG and the interior OL is already better than 2022 on paper. Draft a C/G in top 3 rounds OT - Again no argument. They need a young OT to develop. Brown is a huge question mark and Dawkins regressed last year. I see OT in the first two rounds for sure. Edge - Nope. Rousseau is good and Miller will be back. They probably dumpster dive for a 4th DE to compete with Basham and Epenesa for the last DL spot. MLB - Wagner is your answer. S - Hyde is coming back from an injury he should be fully ready to go. Hamlin may yet play again. Benford will move to safety despite what McD is saying now. He is just saying Benford at CB while Poyer coming back is still a possibility. Once/If Poyer is gone Benford will be at Safety in the OTA's. It looks like a lot - but really it is WR, OT, and C/G with the first three picks, maybe one splash FA and a few cheap free agents. This could change if they get a WR in FA or via trade but no matter where a WR comes from they will add someone to compete with Davis.
  3. Yes and no. Like it or not a 3rd round pick is going to get more chances to make the roster than a third day pick or UDFA. It has no relevance on whether or not he will succeed but it does on the opportunities he will be given by the regime that drafted him so high. Who is to say if Bernard will develop or not? Sample size is too small, but so is he to play in the NFL. Ha see what I did there? Would be great if he can turn into a playmaker. Even if he gives Milano a few reps of rest during the game or plays the big-nickel or rare 4-3 OLB, he may be valuable. His role in the defense in OTA's and training camp will be an interesting watch.
  4. Agreed. Guys will put up with BB's BS if they are winning. They won't if they are not even making the playoffs with noodle arm.
  5. I agree to a point. Sample size on Love is too small to know for sure. Im sure they know more from practice but he has not had enough game time for us to know. 100% agree. Look what Miami and San Fran did with garbage heap QB'S. Keep adding resources around Allen and hope he stays healthy. Without him for an extended period of time it won't matter.
  6. Ho hum. They should have let him walk so he counted as a free agent lost in the comp pick formula. I beleive he would have qualified. For backup MLB I'd rather have Klein. Bernard probably sucks but he was a 3rd round pick and he should be at least good enough to be a warm body to backup Milano.
  7. Why do teams draft Zach Wilson? These people are not geniuses. In many cases they just follow the herd mentality of coaching. We've heard it since we were kids that special teams were important. People thought the earth was flat. They were wrong and they are wrong about special teams. Maybe back in the day where games were low scoring nad field position mattered. It just doesn't matter anymore. Offenses move between the twenties at will against even the best defenses. Did you see what KC did to the Eagles? You think Andy Reid cares about special teams? Name anyone on their team that plays special teams besides the kicker. Lastly we were number one in special teams by whatever stat they measure, and the didn't make it out of the divisional round. As others have pointed out, Brady and the Pats success skews the data on importance of special teams. The year he got hurt they didn't make the playoffs and my guess is they didn't pay any less attention to special teams. The game has changed and guys like McDermott don't adjust fast enough. He has adjusted in terms of going for it on 4th down situations. He hasn't evolved in terms of roster makeup.
  8. Matakevich according to an article today has had 19 ST tackles in two seasons. That is barely more than one every other game. I know he does other things. But there is no way he is worth the money he is getting paid. Hopefully he took a healthy pay cut to stay. He is a complete liability at LB even worse than Bernard.
  9. Agreed but many teams carry 6 WR because one of them is your return guy/gadget player and you carry one less RB. Bills have done this in the past. If your primary returner is a RB and you have 4 RB's including Jones, then they only need 5 WR. That said Kumerow was used in the short yardage packages as a big blocker WR which he was decent at. Last year Davis primarily played that role after Kumerow was hurt. Kickers matter. Gunners do not.
  10. Kumerow played in six games and absolutely was part of the special teams roster of players at the start of the season. Excluding him just helps you make your argument but doesn't pass the reality test of the percent of salary cap devoted to special teams players. I agreed on McKenzie. Hines played in 9 games and had 6 rushes and 5 catches, compared to a total 35 kick returns that exclude fair catches. He was used on offense but his primary impact was as a return man.
  11. Tasker running OOB intentionally is illegal now. And so are the blocking rules used back in the 1990s. And they moved the tee back to the 35 to deemphasive the KO. Times have changed. Pass the ball, catch the ball, rush the passer, and make clutch kicks. That is all that matters.
  12. Nope it absolutely doesn't matter. Its old school coaching just like benching a RB for half a season for a fumble. The difference between the best and worst punt and kick return teams is what 5 yards? Who cares? Its meaningless. Its less than one average QB attempt or one just above average run.
  13. Nice job but you have a few flaws. For one you left out Kumerow who made the roster primarily as a special teams player. So you instantly go from 5 to 6 players. And don't argue he wasn't a special teams pick. He made the roster and Hodgins didn't because of special teams. Second you have no kick returner. They used McKenzie and then Hines. Its fair not to include McKenzie but Hines was not used that much on offense. Many teams have primary return guys. So when you compare Bills to other teams, the Bills have at least one extra roster spot used for gunners/blockers on teams.
  14. Trade him. They aren't signing him to a long term deal
  15. Good point. He's more valuable than a guy like Jones and Kukerow in my opinion though.
  16. You missed Terrence McGee who was probably best in Bills history. He is RB and return guy. Lets you keep one less WR that would solely be for returns. Also probably allows them to choose Crowder over McKenzie for final WR spot.
  17. Please give me Wagner!!! He's my son's favorite Seahawk of all time
  18. Our long national nightmare is over. We can now move on to arguing about moving White to safety!!
  19. Lol. Can't wait until they think they signed Urlacher again only for Edmunds to misdiagnosis every run play he sees.
  20. Fits the MO of getting guys that are position flexible on the OL. Its a reasonable strategy with the limited numbers of guys you can dress on game day and Morse concussion history. Seems like a decent signing from the Dallas write-up. Don't know much about him.
  21. I'd be fine with trading a 1st. I would still keep Davis. Diggs, Jeudy, Davis,Shakir, and Crowder would be my 5 WRs. Maybe add a 6th on day 3 of the draft. I would trade Oliver for a 2nd. I would draft OL, OL, MLB or Safety with the next 3 picks.
  22. If they do that is tampering. Of course Miami has done that before
  23. If he knew he was going to be an All-Pro do you think he would have waited until the 5th round to take him???
  24. Bills were losing at home against their 3rd string QB. Maybe it was the Hamlin effect. But I fear Miami and all that speed is the perfect scheme to defeat McDs bend and break defense. Just like KC and Cinci does except Miami doesn't have the QB. Miami may even have the better coach. Scary times. Hopefully Beane recognizes he has to go all in on the offense.
