  1. That doesn't make sense and is actually opposite. A roster rebuild would actually favor Beane and McDermott playing more of their own draft picks. Isn't that the job of the coaching staff to teach them? The Chiefs' rookies had no problem getting playing time.
  2. Seattle made the playoffs last year, and you can argue has an easier path to the Superbowl in the NFC than in the AFC. This sucks. He would have been a star in the middle for a championship run. Best option now is to drop out of the first round. Get an extra second round pick and draft a new MLB If McDermott decides Bernard is the heir apparent I can't wait for the McDermott apologists to try and defend that move.
  3. Unpopular NFL take I would eliminate all Preseason games. COVID year showed they are completely unnecessary. College has no preseason . Yes many teams play cupcakes for their first game but even some of the top teams have big time games as the season opener. I would compromise to 1 Preseason game and I would not play a single starter. And if I was a top player, I would refuse to play in any preseason game. I would even negotiate that into my contract.
  4. 1. Beane and McDermott would both have been fired if Browns or Jets take Allen. Allen has saved their jobs and they have in turn cost us at least one Championship 2. Allen played poorly last year. Multiple red zone turnovers. Failed to take what defense was giving him most of the year. Maybe it was the elbow but he was playing like garbage in the Jets game before the injury. He has to be more conservative and less careless with the football this year. 3. Knox is an elite TE held back by two OCs that have not featured him enough. Knox can easily get 75 catches, 900 yards, and 7 TD if used properly. Best TE in franchise history.
  5. 100% agree. I think it was yet another bad weather game , Hamlin coming to the locker room, Josh running for his life and the players knowing they were outcoached. They had enough Josh included.
  6. Almost correct. He didn't suck but he was bad against the run and didn't make any plays. The best you could say is maybe he made a difference in the pass game. For years we heard Edmunds defenders say how important he was. Well now look a defensive minded HC just let him walk. Maybe just maybe we hearty few that called out his bad play for years were correct!
  7. Happens all the time to the best teams. Seattle let Wagner walk. Jets let Revis go. Bills let Gilmore go. Endless examples. You just have to rebuild. Probably so. Then he is better to keep one more year.
  8. Three options 1. Trade Oliver for a 2nd and draft another DT. They don't have the draft capital to spend on a DT at this point. 2. Sign Wagner to play MLB. Keep Oliver on the 5th year. Burn one of your draft picks on a DT. 3. Assuming no veteran MLB is signed, bring back Phillips or some other journeyman for the 4th DT and let Oliver play out his contract like they did with Edmunds. Draft a LB this year to replace Edmunds and draft DT in 2024. Only one of the first 4 picks should be used for defense. 3b. Trade out of the first round and get two day 2 picks. This allows you to get MLB, DT, WR, OT, C/G in the first four rounds in no particular order.
  9. Brady taking less is so overblown. He was always paid in the top three or four QBs he was just never the top paid guy. Ans that was mainly because he had contemporaries like Manning and Breese who were of near equal HOF status. Yes that saved them a few dollars in cap money but not really that much. Bills will soon be no different. Allen is already below Mahommes and within two years Herbert and Burrow will both be making more.
  10. He will not. They will draft an OT to push Brown and or replace Dawkins next year. Everything changed. They struggled all year despite the stats and got blown out at home in the playoffs. What hasn't changed is the HC. Who said they were committed to him starting? They are committed to giving him a chance. Its not as if he hasn't had some good moments. They will draft another OT to replace Brown this year or Dawkins next.
  11. Yeah I guess my point was I'm sure when Minnesota drafted Diggs they didn't think he was a Randy Moss replacement either. We just don't know. Here's the other thing. The GMs don't know either. Just like Brad Pitt said in moneyball you just don't know. You say you do but you don't. They need OL and WR out of this draft. As someone else said if you drafted OL and WR in every draft in the top 4 rounds with Josh Allen you probably are making a wise decision. NFL has changed and we used to think pass rushers and corners still mattered. Now there is no defense to stop the top QBs. Dont even try. Hope you get 3 stops a game by penalty, turnover, missed FG, or the occasional good play. Otherwise just build a team to score 40 every game. They have the QB. Get him as many pieces as possible.
  12. Diggs was not a first round pick. They can find a future #1 WR there or even in the second round. Dawkins dead cap hit for next year is $7M but falls dramatically after that. If he rebounds and plays well in 2023 I can see a 2-3 year extension. However he really has only been playing well for about a 6-8 game stretch of 2021 and regressed to really average at best in 2022. It is far more likely he is a post June 1 cut in 2024 and they draft his replacement this year. Whoever they draft will compete with Brown at RT and then will be slotted to replace Dawkins at LT in 2024.
  13. Its why trading down instead of up is usually better. Having more picks just increases your odds. Losing out on the 5th year option is a negative but it would not be bad to trade out of 27 for an extra day 2 pick. Conversely I'm in the camp that after the 5th round those guys are no better than an UDFA. Just trade away your 6th and 7th round picks for higher rounds next year. There is no roster room for those guys. They just end up being camp bodies and end up in other teams squads. You can find camp bodies on the UDFA market. If you parlay and package those picks you can then move around a little bit in the middle rounds without sacrificing a mid round pick.
  14. Because he just signed a 4 yr contract and has a $6.5M dead cap hit if they let him go. He is a solid guard and if Morse gets hurt he is a very good center. He would be cheap to slide over to center in 2024 if Morse is gone. Brown and Dawkins regression are the biggest issues now that Saffold is gone. Draft OT and C/G this year to prepare for the future. Notice how neither Morse or Dawkins got a restructure. Both are on the chopping list for 2024 along with White if he does not return to form.
  15. Yeah and if the Jets had taken Allen, Beane and McDermott would be out of a job by now.
  16. Agree. They can now take WR, MLB, OT, and C/G in the first four rounds in any particular order. The starters on the IOL are ok. RT needs to be an open competition with a rookie. And they need to add a WR#2 so Davis van walk next season. Only issue left is DL. Do they hope Oliver can stay healthy or so they trade him and draft another DT??
  17. Wagner was released and is not UFA. He should not count in the formula
  18. Great. He is terrible. One FA loss for the comp pick calculator. Need a couple more.
  19. If Smith-Njigba falls past 20 becuase of his hamstring issues they should try to move up and get him
  20. Excellent post. I've tried to keep an open mind knowing the this is just phase 1 of the offseason and the full plan won't be known until after the draft. I am going to reserve judgment on Beane until then.
  21. I think that makes Buffalo +3 in free agent signings. Pretty sure none of them are worth a 3rd round comp pick that Beane appears to be on the verge of wasting. Hope we start losing some guys or there will be zero compensation for Edmunds.
