  1. Agree. They need an arm in camp that can push Kyle Allen. They don't need to waste time on a reclamation project.
  2. Thank you. Beane needs to trade 6th and 7ths this year for 5 and 6 next year.
  3. The Miami games are an illusion. Bills were crushing the Dolphins in ganec1 and 3. They played sloppy football and let game 1 slip away and game 3 be too close. Miami offense is a threat to score on every play with their WR group. I like their HC more than I like McD. But McD has generally shown a way to prevent getting beat deep and with Hyde and Poyer back they should be able to play a deep shell. Just have to put your faith in Allen. He is our best hope for a Championship. If he plays smart Bills can beat anyone. If he plays reckless then they will struggle.
  4. Just curious. In what way is the team weaker than last year? I could buy the angst if you said other teams got better, but you lost me when you said the team is weaker. Outside of MLB there is no position that is worse than last year. DE may be worse for a few games but when Miller comes back they get an instant upgrade. The entire DL should be much better than last year. Secondary should be outstanding. WR group and TE group are better. OL looks much better up the middle. I dont think Dawkins is playing at a high level anymore but he wasn't last year either. So that is a wash. Brown might not be great but he is unlikely to get worse. RB group is probably status quo. A little more home run ability but maybe a little less ground and pound. Special teams - I really don't care besides the K and P and they are stable. Frazier is gone but again who cares. It has been McD's defense the whole time anyway. I'm a skeptic of the coaching staff but the roster is solid.
  5. Is that for all players on PS or just a designated few? I thought they could only protect a couple players from being poached but it could change from week to week.
  6. How is he #2 in round 3? Love the Knox pick but he has not been that great(only good by Bills TE historical perspective). Moss was terrible. Singletary just average. Phillips was not good but did get a second contract for the Vikings. Jury is still very much out on Brown. Wait until Bernard is out of the league next year and he will drop.
  7. I'd be fine if Ford and Phillips rotated from game to game to figure out who is playing better and keep them fresh for the playoffs. I hope they give Johnathan a real shot to beat out Lawson or Epenesa in the four games while Miller is on PUP. If they don't dress him they should have just cut him and gone with an extra interior OL or WR.
  8. Assume you mean Floyd. He's a veteran and knows preseason is worthless. He will show up when it matters.
  9. I liked the signing but agree have not seen much in preseason yet. Will be interesting to see if he or Phillips gets to dress.
  10. The league has moved on. The era you spoke about used tight ends as blockers. Ozzie Newsome and Kellen Winslow changed that in the early 1980s. Then guys like Gates, Graham, Gonzalez further redefined the position and now players like Kelce and Kittle are as athletic and dynamic as elite WRs. Gronk of course was as devastating a blocker as he was in the pass game which made him and that Patriots offense so special. Elite TEs create match up nightmares more than any running FB ever will. After losing so many games to Gronk and now Kelce, Beane and McD put together the best combo at TE the Bills have ever had with Knox and Kincaid. Now we need Dorsey and Allen to use them.
  11. No real surprise cuts this year. Most on this board probably predicted 50 of the 53. Most thought either Basham or AJE would get traded. I think many had Q making it as a backup OT especially after Doyle went down again.
  12. It can be with the Bills, but three weeks after injury settlement ends.
  13. This is accurate. With a top 3 QB anything can happen. Need a little luck with injuries and need to hit on some rookies and first year players to contribute. Probably need your QB to take a bit of a hometown discount and probably need a couple vets to give you a Championship opportunity discount. So the window with Allen playing at a high level will never be closed, but it could be more or less open from year to year depending on the supporting cast.
  14. Anything less than the AFC Championship game this year with a healthy Allen and it is time to move on from McDermott with or without Beane. I know many on here think this is insane and I also know many agree with me. On paper this is the best DL and secondary McD has ever had, albeit a bit on the older side. On paper the OL looks as good as it ever has. For me it is win now for this head coach. He robbed us of one championship with 13 seconds. He was masterful last year dealing with adversity and he deserves credit for that. Now it is time to at least make the Conference Championship game again. If not I want Allen to have another head coach to give us a shot at a SuperBowl
  15. Not sure if already posted, but Panthers cut Deion Jones. He fits the Bills pattern smallish ILB (6'1" 227lbs) and is a former Panther. Seems like he has been injured a bunch the last two years, but some articles say he was playing well in preseason. Any interest from anyone? Any thoughts?
  16. Seemed like a decent signing but he has been terrible every moment he has played. At this point I'd go with Anderson and Bates as your jack of all trades back up OL. Both can play all the spots on the OL in a pinch. Yes if there is a good OT that can be found in this round of cuts go after him. But that seems unlikely at this point.
  17. Good summary. Honest question, 2 star players(Allen/Diggs) in 6 drafts one coming via trade. Is that good enough? I think he has other solid picks like you pointed out. I love Knox and Taron Johnson but still don't like the Oliver pick and second contract. Hoping Rousseau flashes this year. Every GM has busts. But he is absolutely butchering day 2 of the draft which is where the core of the team should come from. Kincaid and Torrence can quiet the critics like me. Guys like AJE and Bernard make me question who is actually calling the draft shots, Beane or McDermott. Let's just see how it all works out.
  18. Half those moves were made before the draft. Everyone knew Beane was taking a QB. The others were made draft day and to move ahead of Arizona to get Allen was excellent work. I would argue had Cleveland or NY taken Allen Beane would still have taken a QB and most likely it would have been one of the three busts Darnold, Mayfield, or Rosen. Elway could have also taken Allen but he let him slip by. We will never know. You can't discount a little bit of luck in addition to the skill to move up. Also remember Beane gave away multiple picks to move up and take Edmunds. Obviously Edmunds was at a minimum a very good player. But he wasn't good enough to justify multiple picks and obviously not good enough to justify a second contract from Beane(with multiple mitigating factors no doubt).
  19. Gross oversimplification. Allen has won more games. He got the QB. Outside of that he’s probably average. If Oliver doesn’t get better and Elam is a bust then he is probably below average.
  20. And if Cleveland or Jets take Allen then Beane would have been out of a job last year. He got partially lucky drafting Allen. Since then he has pissed away several picks moving up for guys. His success rate is no better than average. If Elam is a bust he really starts to look bad. Can't miss on this many high round guys and stay competitive. Oliver isn't even that good. Better hope Rousseau is a double digit sack guy this year. That said Kincaid and Torrence look good so far this year and maybe he found a late round gem in Bedford. Just really hurts to invest this much into awful DL players. AJE probably doesn't even make the roster of a quarter of the NFL teams.
  21. All he got for Basham was a late round pick swap. What the actual F? Wow. Lots of Beane apologists on this board are going to have to explain this to me.
  22. Unfortunately he's polite to opposing offense tackles too
  23. Remember Rousseau and Oliver were playing hurt and Phillips was lost with a bad shoulder. Also McD/Frazier started AJE a few games just to show us how truly awful he is before moving Lawson into the starting role. With Floyd and a healthy Rousseau and Oliver they should be fine. And I dont even like Oliver and I'm saying that. I liked the Ford signing too but he has not shown much in preseason and could be a surprise cut.
  24. We all knew he was going on the PUP months ago. Let's just hope we don't deal with another White situation where he is cleared but not playing. Doubt that will be the case though. Agree with others. No reason to rush him back. They have enough bodies to get through a month without him.
  25. Agree. Still don't trust McD to play the right guys. In the end if White is solid any of these three guys will be fine at CB#2. Wonder who is the backup for Taron Johnson?? Do they go with Jackson or Elam if Benford starts, or does nickel go to Rapp or a guy like Neal.
