  1. Careful there, people here really love Doug Whaley as a GM
  2. Not hard to criticize him when he signed a new extension, spent weeks saying he wasn’t going to make a move like this, and even got high school kids to commit to UB under his vision. Then when he does take the job, Nate is no where to be found and won’t answer questions from the Buffalo media. Seems like this could’ve been handeled better. Fans deserve more of any explanation than the weak ass PR statement he put out. I agree UB should’ve had a bigger buyout in the extension
  3. Completely disagree. Good post and good video. Keep ‘dem coming boys
  4. The difference is....most coaches don’t get any input who the GM is. I am telling you McDermott’s situation in the NFL is pretty unique.
  5. I get that....but Oats also went on WGR and other media outlets after signing his extension and talked how how he wanted to stay in Buffalo and be the “Gonzaga of the East.” If he wasn’t serious, he never should’ve signed the extension or talked about his dedication to the area. Then he makes the decision and doesn’t talk to the press. It’s not a good look for him Nate screwed over those kids.
  6. I have little respect for Oats. He made it a point to say that he’s staying in Buffalo and even signed an extension. Yet he’s too much of a chump to take the heat and talk about why he left for Alabama. The dude is a chump....good coach....but a chump.
  7. Not it is not that simple. You have to consider the context here. There are few coaches in the NFL that allegedly have as much power as Sean mcDermott does in Buffalo. Keep in mind that since his hire he made huge changes on the field but also in the organization. This included the removal of long time employees and possibly even the firing/hiring of a new GM. He has a lot of power at OBD, and I don’t think his situation is unique. Bills could have another 6-10 year....he’s coming back in 2020 guaranteed. Maybe even 2021
  8. This is interesting. We’ll see what Terry does but my instinct based on his comments are that Phil is staying.
  9. She is not a good mayor and has done some questionable things in office. Not a fan
  10. Not really considering that after winning 10 games in a row, they appeared to be making progress and had fans talking playoffs for the first time in years. I wouldn’t say it’s a complete regression because they did get hot this year. It did? Because I felt the opposite? It sounded like Terry was making every excuse for Housley. I think he’s staying
  11. Listening to Kim and Terry at the owners meetings was interesting. Despite it being an NFL owners meeting, the majority of questions were Buffalo Sabres related. Specifically wondering how Terry and Kim will respond to a team with promise that currently is in a free fall. Many fans are calling for the head of Phil Housley and given how the team has played over the past few months, it tough to suggest otherwise. A topic that has been discussed in here has been the overall security of Beane and McDermott and the amount of pressure (or lack thereof) they are under to win. It made me wonder how they’ll respond if the Bills take another step back record wise. Let’s say they go 5-11 or 4-12. Does it mean that McDermott and/or Beane will be axed it that they’ll be under the gun in 2020? I’ve always thought that the both Beane and McDermott will be given the full 5 years of their contract. I also think that the Pegulas are image conscious and don’t want to be the team which constantly fires coaches. I think when they fired Rex and brought it McDermott they gave him their word that they would have patience and give him time to build his vision. Based on how Terry and Kim have a the Housley situation, I believe this even more now. I noticed they used the word “patience” on more than 1 occasion and while Terry didn’t use the word “continuity” he basically alluded it by referencing New England. So any fans that want say things like “Fire McDermott” or “Beane should be Fired.” Will likely have to wait until 2021. I think these cats are getting all 5 years regardless, under the guise of “patience” and “continuity.” Yes even if they go 6-10 and 5-11, they still will get 2021. Only way they leave before this is if there is some kind of falling out or a disasterous Hugh Jackson-like Run.
  12. Huge year for Foster....He’ll either flourish or bury himself on the death chart behind the new additions. Let’s hope he continues to improve e
  13. Topic does not belong in TSW
  14. You’re welcome! Glad you enjoyed it
  15. I kind of agree. I believe their first preference is to trade down and pick up an additional second round selection. The Hockenson pick is interesting. He definitely didn’t shy away from saying he wouldn’t draft a tight end high in the first. If I had to guess, I’d put my money on the Bills drafting the best DT or edge rusher available at 9. I think they definitely go tight end and/or WR in round 2 or 3.
  16. Major Points: EJ Gaines Brought EJ Gaines back to compete at CB. Bills stayed in contact with his reps, brought him in for a workout, and signed him. Levi Wallace had a great year but nothing is a given. Competition makes everyone better and Bills will trying to add competition at every position. Also mentioned Corey Thompson. Free Agency - Offensive stats were a focus of the offseason. Wanted to bring in enough offensive players to select the BPA in the draft. - Beane feels better about the team after FA but still wants to add competition. He is keeping all options open to adding talent - specifically mentioned possibly making a trade. - Free Agency is all about the "right fit" - There are no games won in March. Adding talent is one thing, building a team is another. Performance of free agents is not an automatic. Bills staff still have a lot of work to do to make sure they get everything out of free agents. Improvements to the defensive line - Still looking to bring in players including Free Agency and the draft AAF Players It's helpful to see players in actual football (as opposed to workouts) Praises the AAF and feels it's good for the NFL Failure of Tight Ends Drafted High Says each scenario is different Teams have to do their due diligence and should draft the best player available regardless of position Shaq Lawson Draft will have no impact on Shaq's contract
  17. Haha well that’s why I think Sullivan is a pretty big get for the Niagara Gazette
  18. I don’t see this happening. If anything I can see the Bills package a few pick together to get another player in the 3rd or 4th rounds, but I don’t see them moving up in the first round.
  19. I really like this move but I only hope that he’s healthy to play like he did in 2017. Either way, this is worth a shot.
  20. LOL Schopp makes way too much to ever consider making a move to leave WGR for another station in Buffalo
  21. Actually looking back, Empire Sports Network was a pretty good thing. How cool would it be to have a dedicated TV channel that was easy to access which covered Bills/Sabres and other loca content? Sorry, but that MSG NY thing isn’t quite the same.
  22. Yep, the Buffalo Maven. It seemed like a read idea from the start
  23. He only played 14 games in his career
