So you seem to confusing your speculation on what you think happened, and spinning it off as though it’s clear evidence. How do you know “for a fact” he wasn’t on board with Rex? Because it’s never been reported as fact. Also, again, if your story is right, why did Doug willingly sign a new contract if his power as GM was being usurped? Seems to me that would be a huge red flag to any GM. Big Reg over in Oakland was in that situation and knew it was not ideal, so he essentially left the organization. That’s why I don’t buy it. I think Whaley was ok with the Rex hiring. He may have completely supported it. Also, at this point hiring Hue Jackson as HC is not looking like such a great idea hindsight. He actually seems like a worse hire than Rex would be. I can admit, the circumstances Doug had were not ideal. I think Russ Brandon’s involvement could have been problematic as well. As I pointed out in the original post, I think Doug was under a lot of pressure to win, and as others pointed out, wasn’t give them time that Beane and McDermott were. This is why he was so desperate. But I would also rate his run as “below average” and basically put him in the same category of effectiveness as Buddy Nix, which is not very good. There is a lot of revisionist history, by a small (but vocal) members of the fan base who feel he was wronged. In their minds, it’s everyone else’s fault, Terry, Marrone Russ, Rex, Overdwarf, but not Doug. Actually, Whaley should be “St. Doug” because of the devotion some fans have to defend him.

First off, this is 100% speculation. By all indications, Whaley did support the hiring of Rex and was comfortable in the power he was provided by ownership. If he felt neutered or usurped, I highly doubt he resigns an extension. Second your point about 2015 was spurred by Rex is also fantasy. Take a look at the 2012 off-season. Both Buddy and Whaley signed a ridiculous for Mario Williams and a sick and disgusting overpaid contract for Mark Anderson. So don’t tell me they never overspent for free agents, because when they could like in 2012 and 2015, they did and it f***ed the Bills salary cap I completely disagree with what your measuring stick is for a successful pick. You do realize that all GM’s draft players who turn out to average right? There are a lot of Ross Crockrell’s, Kevon Seymour’s, or Seantrel Henderson’s. That doesn’t mean a GM is anything special. The good GM’s hit big on picks - Whaley never did this. He ran 3 drafts as GM (not counting 2017 as he did not make the picks) and those three drafts are not exactly resume builders. Doug is where he belongs....in the XFL.

This question is somewhat tough and will likely be debated among different members here. Who is the Buffalo Bills MVP for the 2019 season? I have heard people suggest Lorenzo Alexander, Tre’Davious White, and even Matt Milano. To me, the MVP is Josh Allen. The offense did get a shot in the arm when he returned to the lineup after injury. Each week Allen was probably the best player on the field for the offense, if not on the entire team. But who would you suggest?

Is the Pro Bowl worth going to?

It might be fun for the kids, but the itself will be a piece of crap -
The higher completion rate is a result of Cam throwing shorter, safer passes. I believe I read that the depth of target is way down this season and interestingly enough, Carolina’s offense was way less explosive this year. So you are going to be Trent Edwards with a 70% completion rating then good for you. But you probably aren’t going to win games

Bills fire OL Coach Juan Castillo

Same here... He’s probably trying to prop himself up publicly to make a case for another coaching job. -
Bills fire OL Coach Juan Castillo

I feel kind of sorry for Juan, because he sounds pretty bummed he was fired. He goes to great lengths to defend himself, but in doing so, I also don’t feel he’s being completely honest. He claims he develops players, but he really didn’t do anything of note this season. Also Juan blamed some of the sack on Allen, which was the case early in the year but not toward the end. He also failed to address the immense struggles in the running game, which you know....is his main responsibility as run game Coordinator. He also didn’t mention the fact that the offensive line was worse in 2017 under his blocking scheme, than in 2016 Still I hope Castillo lands on his feet; https://buffalonews.com/2019/01/02/buffalo-bills-juan-castillo-dion-dawkins-eric-wood-richie-incognito-nfl/ -

McDermott does it again: -
Good post and it does make sense. So I went back and dig through the articles again and now there seems to be a few inconsistencies in my original post. Allen claimed that he and his agent deleted the tweets back in January 18. In the article below Schefter said it was not the case and that the Yahoo writer confirmed that the tweets were live at the time the story was published. So its possible that while Allen could have deleted some tweets in January, he might have missed the few which made their way to the media. https://thebiglead.com/2018/04/26/josh-alien-tweets-adam-schefter-not-deleted-january/ With that being said, it could open the possibility of a few different things. If the tweets were live up until the draft anyone could have found them, including fans trying to stir up trouble, journalists trying to write a blockbuster story, or the theory you described above. I think the chances he was being blackmailed are greatly decreased, and the possibility of a team coming across these tweets while doing their due dilligence at the last minute are more probable. Either way, it’s still kind of sleazy thing to do and like many of you, I hope the Bills had no part in it.

Isn’t this site indexing? You can index any site but you can also prevent indexing with a line of code which will exclude it from the bots doing the work. I dont believe that Twitter is indexed, which would make it very hard to access old deleted tweets from individual users unless they were someone monitoring them beforehand. I believe someone found the tweets when they were live, took a screenshot, and held onto the photos for a while.

NFL agents in general - did you read the area Ryan rumors that said he was interested in both Miami jobs? There’s not a doubt in my mind those stories were planted by the notorious super agent Jimmy Sexson. There’s probably little interest in Rex, but the hope is that the reports make it look like he’s in demand.

Offensive Line: Who Stays Who Goes

That contract made Langston Walker and Derrick Dockery financially set for life! Unfortunately the Bills OL was not set....even for a one season! -
Right, and it’s pretty sad. The reason it’s being done is because this thing has gotten so much media attention. In the case of Allen though, do you think they wanted him to just look bad or was there a strategic purpose based on the draft? I don’t know about the exact date but I’m pretty sure the tweets were actually deleted months before the draft

Ok but knowing the type of character that the Pegulas, Beane and McDermott look for, it seems completely out of character to do this. Beane and McDermott don’t strike me as the hypocritical type. They seem to walk the walk and I really can’t see them hurt someone like this to benefit themselves. It would make sense given their reputation but I think it’s a bit too obvious and don’t think NE would risk a stunt like that with their past

Offensive Line: Who Stays Who Goes

Dawkins is a starter as one of the OT positions. Many are assuming he’ll be moved to RT. I don’t think it’s a sure thing. A lot will depend on what players are available in FA. Teller is probably on yhe team team next year. I am sure they are optimistic he’ll compete for a starting job. Ike Botteger will likely be on the team too, possibly to compete with Teller. I also see Russell Bodine stocking around. He has 1 more deal on his contract and the Bills have the cap space. I don’t see them cutting a veteran to save $1 million dollar. If anything he’ll playa Groy type of roll on the team. Gone Vlad Ducasse is gone. Anytime a former starter that is names a healthy scratch, there’s a good chance he doesn’t have long on the team. I think they do like Mills, but lineplay in the NFL overall is not good. Teams would pay Mills to be a starter. I don’t see the Bills paying him a competing salary to be a backup because I think they want to upgrade at tackle. Jon Miller He’s done. Didn’t quite have them bounce back Year he needed. Ryan Groy: I don’t think the Bills have ever really loved Groy. He’s stuck around based on his reputation from the 2016 teams and his cheap contract. He’s gone though.
