Not sure how much stock I'm going to put into any of the rest of these numbers, but the Sack/Attempt ratio is most certainly impressive. Never thought that would be the case after I watched that first half of the preseason game against the Bungles. The young man tries to make something happen on every play.

That's an interesting comparison and cause for concern. I suppose I may be placing too much emphasis on bloodlines, but I think Metcalf is going to be a really good wide receiver. David Boston's father was a ref IIRC.?

Who else will the Bills cut before Free Agency begins
BillsSB2020 replied to RPbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You are smart enough to realize Star isn't getting cut. I'm with you that he may not bring quite enough bang for the buck, but I'd put the odds at zero. -
Bean at his Witchery, Again!

I would say the culture we're building here is better than anything going on with the Jets and we may very well be competing with them for FA's. Indy's a whole different beast because they've got it going on. I know there are plenty of other teams with cap space, but there are quite a few reasons the Bills will be able to get some great things done in free agency. I believe McDermott is a strong leader that will help lure some of these FA's to our fair city. -

I have a feeling word around the league is spreading about the Bills future. Just an optimistic feeling. I think Allen and the culture are going to help lure fellas in. It's not just about the money although the Beane man has certainly created the space to make the big moves. -
Thinking of Ebron, I kind of wish they would have targeted him last offseason instead of paying Corey Coleman/KB/Kerley etc. Nobody bats 1000 and maybe Ebron wanted to play in Indy. Kind of wish the Beane man had targeted Ebron because we'd have one less need. Hindsight is 20/20 and sky's the limit for 2019.

What do you expect from Trent Murphy in 2019?
BillsSB2020 replied to GreggTX's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sufficient isn't what I'm looking for when it comes to rushing the passer. It's paramount for a dominant defensive squad and shutting down the real competition which always fields a top flight QB. I'd like a dominant pass rush. I have no problem adding a 3T AND an edge rusher. We can allocate all other resources to offense. Just get the pass rush humming. I believe they were near the bottom of the pack in the sack category. -
What do you expect from Trent Murphy in 2019?
BillsSB2020 replied to GreggTX's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I expect a solid season in 2019 because I believe in what they've got going on. As far as our pass rush, it wasn't quite good enough last season and adding a pass rusher could push them over the top defensively. No reason not to add to a strength with so many resources. Even if Hughes remains steady, I have some concerns about Murph's availability. -

You do understand that the Bills brass fully expected a down 2018 in preparation for this off season, correct? They have their QB and all the resources necessary to make this thing work. You may not like the approach, but how can you not be excited about the upcoming season when they've done such a solid job of setting this thing up. At least give em a shot. -
Fair enough and I appreciate all the work you put into this thread pal. I'm sure you've watched much more of Josh Rosen than I have. But based on that small sample, I saw more than one occasion where he had a guy open in the middle and delivered the ball properly but just didn't have the zip and the play was broken up. I think that's going to be a major issue for him. Perhaps if he gets better protection to step into throws, he'll be able to muster up some increased velocity. Either way, much rather have Josh (Allen)

Yeah. Cameron Newton seems to be a decent gentlemen other than a few inappropriate comments and some things that happened back in his collegiate days. He's never been in trouble with Johnny Law or had any kind of serious drama. Maybe when he approached KB but that was warranted! As for AB, I think the Poyer thing makes it really dicey and adds another red flag. I don't think Brown is for us.

BillsSB2020 replied to GreggTX's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not so sure DE isn't a need. Hughes and Alexander are getting up there, Murphy is solid when available, and Lawson isn't much of a pass rusher. They were not particularly good at getting sacks last season. I don't think you can ignore the entire defensive unit and edge players are the most important on the defensive side of the ball. It's somewhere between need and possible upgrade, but I personally believe it should be addressed this off season. I want to field a truly dominant defense and one additional pass rusher could put them right over the top. A fella like Bud Dupree in free agency could help or perhaps the fella from Old Dominion in the 3rd if possible. -
Report: Bills working on extension for Jordan Phillips
BillsSB2020 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I concur with this. I believe Star is solid in his role, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't think a younger fella (H Phillips) could come very close to matching his production. We've got some great value deals(both safeties), lots of guys on rookie deals. This doesn't appear to be a terrific value deal, but those are the breaks. -
Would You Draft A Punter In Rd 7?
BillsSB2020 replied to ndirish1978's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I believe I would if the team really believes in the punter. Let's face it. There's not a whole lot of difference between a 7th RD pick and an UDFA. There is always the occasional homerun in the 7th round, but they're so few and far between that I wouldn't mind "locking up" a solid punter. I will say this about the Buffalo Bills situation. I am not a fan of Colton Schmidt's punting. I'd rather have the camp upstart or Bojorquez. -
AFC Cut Candidates - Gregg Rosenthal
BillsSB2020 replied to MJS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Also interested in Bud Dupree. He's 26 years old and has a knack for making plays. It would mitigate the need for an EDGE in the draft and open the door for an OL or perhaps a DK Metcalf. I'm starting to get the feeling Metcalf is exactly the kind of talent Beane likes to draft high. -
I still have some reservations about Allen, but I'd be much less optimistic had we drafted Rosen. The eye test matches this fellas analysis. There just isn't any zip. I think arm strength became an UNDERRATED attribute because of Tom Brady. A)His arm was stronger than most believed and B)He's a once in a lifetime pre snap QB. Arm strength isn't everything, but it matters as we bore witness to with Peterman.

Hearing Broncos will let Matt Paradis test FA
BillsSB2020 replied to Patriot Killa's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I may be in the minority, but I think Morse may be a better get than Paradis. Morse has the kind of athleticism we're missing along the line and is also a bit younger than Paradis. We have the space to outbid KC if they have their sights set on Morse. Will all depend on whether he'd take a hometown discount to stay in KC. -

BillsSB2020 replied to ROCBillsBeliever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh, I tend to tune out when I hear such nonsense. The Bills made a shrewd move and I thought by and large it was agreed that it was a wonderful move. Don't remember any of that personally, but I trust your account. I'm excited for the off season because I think the boys upstairs realize this is their time to shine. -

BillsSB2020 replied to ROCBillsBeliever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes. I recall the same. It was a terrific move and was universally lauded. I liked Tyrod the human being, but he clearly couldn't hack it as a starting quarterback. To get a third round pick was a major steal. I believe in the Bean man, but I don't remember anything but praise for the deal. Could be wrong. -
I wonder if we may be better served waiting for Fant later in the draft. I just don't feel real comfortable taking a TE so high.

I'm not going to bash Star, but many of those players were had on the cheap. I think Star contributes and aids those around him, but I'm not certain it was a good financial deal from the Buffalo Bills standpoint.
