I don't track any specific books, but all-over social media, they're saying that the odds flipped back into Allen's favor. That says Vegas knows.

I appreciate your analysis. The part I didn't add, was the cost of still filling that same hole. Let's say we use another second this year, on what we perceive to be our future #1 guy, it would be 2 2's and a 3, and you're still not likely to get a guy that's in the same tier as Thomas. At some point we need to add some difference makers. Not just another guy. Keon to me, is just another guy, and wasn't worth our 1st pick last year. However, I will say that I did love the Bishop pick, and if he turns into the difference maker we think he has the potential to become, you totally win the argument. I have to admit, that I'm probably still living in the moment. But we still do need to get Allen that big weapon. That to me, should be non negotiable.
-
Of course all these teams ultimately filled holes, but unless they all landed the one guy they coveted, a deal could be had We see it every year, the main thing is being willing to pay the price. So now, we spent our first pick on a WR, spent a 3rd during the season on another WR, and yet he we are still needing a WR. If you add it all up, it adds up to more than the cost of trading up.

Actually you can see by my handle, who I would've loved. Eric Mould was such a complete and underrated player I will also add that it makes me sick, we didn't make a move to land Thomas. Bash me for criticizing Beane, but that was a really big miss.

I agree, Desean Jackson is an all-time great, when we're talking about deep threats. To answer the OP's question, I would say the ideal guy, is a less injury prone Tee Higgins. Speed threat with size and length.

Give them an offer they can't refuse
-
That's fair, I can't disagree, but I will say that the consensus is t at overall they have the better roster by about 5-6 players. Besides the tackle, and RB position, I think they have the edge in pretty much all the position groups. Keller is aging, but is still there, also Rashee Rice tore his ACL, but has to factored in. Also, as much as it pains me to say, Worthy was a difference maker for them, Keon was completely washed out and non existent against both Balt and KC.

Is McD actually compensating for Beane?
Allen2Moulds replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes and no. I mean some is McDermott, and some is Allen, but if there is someone that needs to step up the most out of the 3, it would need to be Beane. Beane is excellent at drafting quality players, but is lacking of the upper tier/difference makers. Drafted Coleman......c'mon Beane, you say you are antsy and aggressive during the draft. Where was that when KC jumped you, and stuck you with Elam? Or this year when Thomas slipped all the way to 23, and you didn't go get him? Many of us on this board saw it. And seemed like it was a perfect match with Allen. Coleman was a head scratcher and still is. Kincaid was also a headscratcher, given what Knox was being paid. -
No, we need more. Here are the 1st pick in each of the last 4 rounds. Elam - Bust Rosseau- average Kincaid - average Coleman- below average. These are the guys that are suppose to make the difference in the biggest games, and are often no shows or invisible. That's why draft picks are overrated sometimes, if you have an opportunity to go after an impact player at a key position.

Why no tush push on the Allen QB sneaks?
Allen2Moulds replied to RoscoeParrish's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's almost like they got a little lazy/arrogant. As others stated, you always have to have a counter ready number 1. And no.2, why not have a bigger/stronger body pushing Allen. The Shakir thing is the cute kind of thing that almost always blows up in your face. This one thing arguably cost us the game. Not only on the 4th down play, but also on the 2pt conversion. It potentially cost us 10pts. They also can't use the fail proof argument, because Baltimore stopped it the week before. That should of set off some alarms, to be ready with the necessary adjustments. -
Still cracks me up that we gave Mahomes to the Chiefs
Allen2Moulds replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall
You don't think that if we gave Allen to the Chiefs, this same thing would be happening? Coaching does matter, and not only do we have Reid to deal with, but Spags is also elite at his job. Supporting cast as well. Chiefs have at least 3 players going to the HOF, if not more. -
He was the most painful to watch last night. Seems like he was constantly on the ground. We had zero outside contain, on a lot of key plays. He was so bad, that it almost washes out, all the good we saw during the season.
-
That is the over simplified take, and admittedly I felt like that initially, but after I let things settled, it came down to (2) things. We got outcoached and outmanned. But I put a bit more of the responsibility on Beane. We've had the same shortcomings, a couple years in a row. For those that say he should of thrown it to Shakir on that last play, hasn't watched the play closely enough. When the first guy closes quickly on Allen, Shakir is very far from the sticks, and likely gets tackled short. He made an amazing effort to avoid and give his pass catcher a chance. I know it wasn't an easy ball to catch, but as a first round TE, in a conf championship game, you have to come down with that ball. Those are championship moments. I immediately thought of the Diggs drop last year.
-
I'll get bashed for this, because we're only allowed to criticize McDermott and not Bean, but his return on investment right now, when it comes to Dline and pass catchers, is not very good. Kincaid was a 1st round pick, playing more like a 4th/5th rounder, and Coleman can't separate against anyone. How is it a good idea, to draft a WR that can't separate. Beane is not a good evaluator when it comes to these 2 positions. He's going to need to delegate this to someone. I don't know.
-
He started off erratic, almost like we were watching a diff QB, but settled in just before the half. I think we got grossly outcoached on both sides of the ball, but there is also a personal deficiency.

The stubbornness to continually run the QB sneak....
Allen2Moulds replied to Matt_In_NH's topic in The Stadium Wall
I couldn't agree more. I was begging for a rollout, or pitch to Cook. Chiefs were totally selling out to stop the play, and there were opportunities to be had. That and the 3rd and 10 screen pass to Amari. Josh had finally settled in, and started having more success through the air. Here are the final 4 plays, if I remember correctly...Ty Johnson run for no gain, batted ball, screen pass to Amari, and than the desperation heave. Screen pass is a glorified run. I would rather give Josh at least one more opportunity. That was the game, and the excessive sneaks, compounded by a bad spot. -
I think both the Kincaid and Coleman picks are not looking to good. Coleman wears the number 0, and that seems to have been his impact last night. 2 weeks in a row, in a big game, gotta have it moment, and Kincaid doesn't come up with it. Besides Shakir, who do you trust in a situation like last night. We've been sorely lacking size and speed at wide out, and this was a great draft for it. We decided to go with one of the slowest WR in the draft. You have this cheat code of a QB, who you continue to handcuff, by failing to arm him with the proper weapons. I won't revisit the Ford over Metcalf thing, because that's been discussed to death. We had an opportunity at a redo with Bryan Thomas, who you failed to go up and get. This is the absolute type of guy that you needed to match with Allen.
-
Was it only 1 punt combined between Chiefs and Ravens?
-
Come on...McDermott overachieved. Coleman was invisible, and Kincaid was once again a major disappointment. Also still no difference maker on the dline. I can't believe how bad Rosseau was. How comfortable do you feel handing him a big contract? Bryan Thomas Jr. Anyone? How come he's not a Bill. We have this big arm QB, and we continue to refuse to arm him. It's almost becoming a fireable offense.

I forgot where I heard it, but there was a podcast about the top offensive minds in the game, along with their coaching tree. Slovacks name came up, and it may have have been Simms that said it, but he said.....Slovack is an interesting guy, because when you look at him, it's hard to trace where his teachings came from. Basically he implied that Bobby only had a playback, and not a system. They said...once teams catch on to your plays, what do you do? This is what we saw happened this year. Part of it anyways. Agree that injuries and online play also hurt them, but when teams know what you're doing, it's that much harder on the oline.

Just enjoying the ride. I'm beyond letting expectations ruin the moment. I say that, and then kickoff happens, and I'm a totally irrational lunatic.

AFC Championship Game Week Thread - Bills at Chiefs
Allen2Moulds replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
If I'm not mistaken, there were 4 backups in at the dline at once. I hope never to see that either. It's not the preseason. -
AFC Championship Game Week Thread - Bills at Chiefs
Allen2Moulds replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Only because he did it once already, I can't help but fantasize about Allen playing another perfect game, and this time against the Chiefs. Pretty much impossible to lose, unless somehow the other team also does it, and ends up with an extra possession. Don't kill my dream!
