They'll draft for need and take a WR. -

It's pretty much always like this; I'm keeping most of my attention on the Panthers/Lightning game, but it's easier to read a list of picks tomorrow with your breakfast. The draft always promises way more interest that it actually provides. -

No one here has a clue what he'll turn into. Gotta wait and see as with all these guys. -
Comfort show for me is Northern Exposure. I have all seasons on DVD and have seen them all 1,000 times.

Oof - the penalty for being good, but not good enough

Will never forget the ridiculous enthusiasm here for the guy the day it was announced he was a Bill. People are delusional. -
I'm unhappy with the hire, but Lindy can be serviceable for a couple of years. There's no long game here and we will need to move on from him sooner than later; as long as we do that, I'm OK with it. I knew they would do this when they retained some of the assistant coaches. Adams claims he looked at "double digits" of candidates; I find that hard to believe. This is who he wanted all along.

Too many for me to list. Near the top would be, as demonstrated daily at TSW, a complete inability for many to understand the differences between "THEIR", "THERE", and "THEY'RE". It's really not that hard guys. Another that is used so universally incorrectly now it might have gone from "wrong" to "correct": "HONE" vs. "HOME". "I am going to "hone" in on something." Correct usage is "HOME" as in radar homing, as in a term developed in WWII with the advent of radar. You look at a broad expanse of sky, sea, or space, and try to narrow down or, narrow in, or radar home-in on your target. I.E., go from broad to narrow. Go from vague to specific. People say "HONE" as though they are somehow talking about a blacksmith sharpening something. I don't get it. Using "HONE" in this context makes no sense; you don't "hone in" on a blade. Next time, use "HOME" and correct others who do this; you'll be 1 in 1,000.

Who else is looking forward to Boston vs. TO later today? Will be cheering hard for the Bruins. My prediction: Bruins in 6. Probably the 1st round series I want to see the most. Who the hell doesn't know about the KC Scouts? Wonder if he remembers the Atlanta Flames or Colorado Rockies. Or California Golden Seals!

Will we be in Super Bowl contention this year?
Nextmanup replied to bills6969's topic in The Stadium Wall
You have to define what "being in contention" means to you. That is going to mean different things to different people. Did you think, for example, that we were in contention to win the SB last year? I did not. "In contention" to me means one of a handful of teams being discussed to win a SB and expectations to do so, with some luck, being realistic. We MIGHT be in contention next year; next year's team doesn't exist yet so it 's hard to comment on that. I am predicting playoffs and an exit from them right around where we always do, and the post-season discussion being about "heat on McDermott" more than ever, if he isn't fired outright at season's end. I would gladly trade me being totally wrong for a SB victory. -

Pegulas selling 25% of the Bills, per Tim Graham
Nextmanup replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's entirely possible he has rethought his position with owning the Bills and Sabres due to his wife's health. I still think this is a weird move; wanting to transition to a different stage of life without the burden of these teams is one thing, but why sell 25% of it? Is he hurting for cash and needs some liquidity? Why? The funny thing is that for the last several years, their actions with regard to the Sabres could be viewed as preparatory steps to selling the franchise. They had things stripped pretty clean at one point. -
This is GREAT that the players themselves are talking about this, and Adams himself mentioned it a lot in his PC. It's a glaring problem with this team and it needs to get fixed. Wouldn't be surprised to see Skinner as a buyout. IF not now, soon.

I'm all in favor of college athletes getting paid and skipping the whole "education" part, which 99% of them are doing already. Huge money being made off their hard work. It's a flaw in how football works in this country. For some reason, minor league football has evolved to be "college football". I'm in favor of the whole thing being radically re-worked.

I'm concerned about the way Matt Ellis and Marty Wilford have NOT been fired with the rest. That's weird and I hope they'll both be gone when the new coach shows up. I was encouraged by Adams' PC which seems to indicate Seth Appert will NOT be the coach; that's a huge win for Sabres fans right there. Now we need to avoid the pitfall of hiring Lindy again. He would be an improvement, but not ideal IMO. The guy I'd love to see is Joel Quenneville, but he's not reinstated yet, and I think his penalty was to last through this off-season. I don't know. Maybe Berube. Don't think they'll wait long enough to try and get Brind A'mour and I don't think he'd come here anyway. It feels like they will try to get a guy fast.

Kraft hurt Belichik's chances at becoming the Falcons HC per NYP.
Nextmanup replied to Gregg's topic in The Stadium Wall
The ESPN piece that forms the basis of this article form the NY Post is what you really want to read if you are interested in this. I have not read it, but apparently it's quite revealing and suggests BB is done in the league. -
Do you think Allen feels relief after the Diggs trade?
Nextmanup replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall
I totally disagree and hope that's not the way it was. That's not professional. Fans often think much more highly of players than their own management does. Not saying there is some sort of dislike for Josh in the building; far from it. I'm just saying if Josh's feelings are hurt (or not) should not be the basis of hugely important football decisions facing the team. -
The first hurdle has been cleared! Now we must be sure NOT TO HIRE SETH APPERT. That would be classic Pegula and a classic error...leading to 14 seasons without playoffs. Gotta bring in the right type of coach; experienced, tough, proven at least to a degree. He must demand respect from the players and he has to have some level of discipline to help the kids improve. Berube? Gallant? Boudreau? Some will suggest Ruff. I say "NO" to that, but he would be a big improvement over Granato. Weird that ALL assistant coaches haven't been fired. I assume all will be gone once new guy is here and organized.

Pit Bulls are so cuddly!!! Breed more of them.

One thing is for certain: dying as the result of a mauling by a pack of dogs is a man's way to go. You know, like falling into a combine. -
The most interesting story with the Sabres for the next few months, by far, will be if they fire Granato or not. I am not expecting it but still holding out hope. If they do it, I think it will be done with 24-48 hours of season ending. I.E., TOMORROW most likely. Could be a huge day in Sabres Land. If no change is made, it will be hard to maintain enthusiasm for this group going forward. The assistant coaching staff, in particular, must go. They should have been wholesale fired at the end of last season.

I'm a HUGE fan of the video games and know all the backstory, etc., to the show...but don't have Amazon. I may have to cough up the $$$ to get the show. Still finishing up the re-done "SHOGUN" on FX, which has been excellent.

If you had a newborn baby on the day of our last playoff game played, that baby would become in a teenager in less than 2 weeks. [visual aids courtesy of Google] 😭

An isolated piece of anecdotal information is hardly instructive in any calculated decision. You gotta go with the percentages/odds/what happens most of the time. The Bills just gave up a LOT to get Stefon Diggs and it was a big deal move at the time, but it worked out as well as you can imagine. I am NOT a fan of moving up in general, I think it's the wrong way to do things...but without elite talent at WR, we are going nowhere.

I had a friend in undergrad who was a huge guy; 6'5" and like 295 at the time. He was into weight lifting and was actively trying to get to 300 lbs. b/c he thought it would be cool to be 300 lbs. He would pound a CASE OF BEER at home to get "warmed up" prior to LEAVING THE HOUSE to start out night of bar hopping. I know a case of beer to warm up seems like BS; but that is what he would do. He could guzzle a beer in a few seconds and I don't think it really impacted him at all. Lots of tolerance for alcohol back in those days too, from plenty of practice. Some of these guys in the NFL (who look closer to 400 lbs to my eye) can probably do an alcohol IV and remain sober.
