  1. I agree with you. This draft has a lot of talent in rounds 2 and 3 that matches up with the long term needs of the team. In first round , one of the elite d-linemen will be available at pick 9. McD and Beane will not pass on this value.
  2. Good observation and I agree.
  3. What it means is that he has greater capacity to process what he sees and is more capable to interpret it correctly, thus making the right decision. Smarter people have the correct answer before less smart people. Give me a smart QB anytime. None of this has anything to do with the ability to throw the ball with the right velocity or accuracy. Coaching, athletic ability, and practice has to do the job with that. Unfortunately all the coaching in the world can't overcome stupidity ( Vince Young proved that for all of us.). All of the test scores with the exception of one, fall in a range that teams consider to be good for an NFL QB.
  4. When you watched McD's defense in Carolina, they generated a lot of pressure on the pocket from the d-tackles, especially from K. Short. I think he places a lot of value in that. The Bills were not able to generate that pressure consistently in 2018. With Kyle Williams gone, they have even less talent now. I have a feeling that the Bills will try to add that skill set to the defense with pick #9. There are several outstanding d-tackles in this draft.
  5. Sounds like Dunlap and Cook don't have anything good or significant to say about their own team and city. When your two best players go to extreme measures to get away, it is a good indication that the team is circling the drain. It would seem that these clowns would be better served to talk about fixing the mess that is their Steeler organization. I wonder how they'll handle the situation when the Browns crush them twice this season and win the division. They'll probably revert to attacks on the other so-called mistake by the lake. Personally, I can't wait to see it all unfold. GO BILLS!
  6. It has occurred to me over the last few days that Beane has taken a very strategic approach to the FA's that he has signed. None of them just scream "camp fodder" to me. They all seem to address an obvious need. Under previous regimes, we were signing players that didn't address an obvious need and that most of us knew would not make the final 53 or the practice squad. Am I just drinking the Kool-Aid or has there really been a change?
  7. Good points. I think they will draft their long term answer for TE this year. It might not be in the earliest rounds of the draft as some people want. This draft has a good number of quality TE's.
  8. I agree with you. Some think he will be going in the second round. I'm more in the late third or early fourth round. His lack of speed has me concerned but I do like the way he plays.
  9. With our small sample size of Beane's work in the draft, it will all come down to the specific scenario in play as his pick approaches. If the players that are left on the board don't have a value that is equivalent to or greater than the number of the pick he is about to make, he will probably try to trade down. If a he sees a player falling well below his projected value, I believe that he will try to trade up. If this happens to correspond to a position of need, I think he will react sooner and more decisively to move up more draft slots. Given the fact that we don't know how the various players are graded on his board and we don't know what the other teams will do, I can't profess to know what Beane will do. If some team approaches him with a desire to acquire one of his picks and it doesn't conflict with his strategy or the his ability to acquire a desired player, I am confident that he will get the best price for the trade. I can't wait to see it all play out. Fans develop attachments to potential draft picks, good GM's like Beane don't.
  10. Me too.....don't need another old guy in the backfield.
  11. What about Ricky Williams? Gotta have room for the Space Captain!
  12. I agree with you. I can see 1,6 10 and 13. There could be a trade up scenario where Washington and or Miami try to make a jump ahead of Denver. If that materializes, the Bills could be sitting pretty. It's going to be fun to watch it unfold.
  13. Exactly, he should be gone by pick number three (unless there are some really stupid GM's).
  14. I think they will but not as early as some of us would like.
  15. If you go out at night in Oakland, you must be crazy or packin' some serious heat.
  16. And you probably pulled last call at Better Days! Just a guess from another Wellsville guy
  17. Backs are a dime a dozen, I don't see the Bills going for a RB before day three. I think Henderson will be gone before the Bills would have him as BPA. I also think the Bills will see other needs as more pressing.
  18. Moving down a few spots would still let them pick an impact player and potentially get them an extra day two pick. Given the FA moves to date, I see the biggest needs (not listed in any particular order) remaining as pass rusher, d-tackle, TE, and OT. A lesser need is to find the future strong side linebacker (Zo's last season). Given the depth of some of these position groups in the draft, there will be some pretty good players available in the top 100 picks. I'm sure Beane and Company have thought through all of the various scenarios and have a game plan to deal with them. I don't like the idea of moving up.
  19. You're right. I was there and froze my a__ off. Raiders couldn't get back to the bench heaters fast enough.
  20. You may very well be correct. Depending on who is still on the board at 9, attractiveness of the offer to trade down, and who projects to still be available at the trade down pick, Beane could do almost anything. He is hard to predict. Bills could use a difference maker but they could also use multiple good players from later in the first round or from day 2 of the draft. I have confidence that he will make a good decision based on all the variables when the Bills are on the clock.
  21. He has ended up losing a bunch of money by sitting out and turning down the last offer from the Steelers. It will be interesting to see how good he really is without the Pittsburgh o-line. James Connor and Curtis Samuel looked pretty good running behind that line. I'm not surprised that no team wanted to give him a contract to equal or exceed the Gurley deal. I'm really glad that the Bills have stayed away from the Bell and AB drama queens.
  22. somewhere around $40M to $45M, I believe.
