Joe B article about cornerbacks
Florida Bills Fanatic replied to whorlnut's topic in The Stadium Wall
You are correct about other options being available. The Bills and others may be looking at this in a more unique way. Suppose the Bills are looking at replacing White at the end of his contract (due to age and injury) and they want to have the heir apparent on the roster and familiar with the defense. In that case, selecting a CB in round one makes perfect sense. The Bills may also have identified some later round sleepers that have talent and project to be available on day two or later. In that case, waiting on a CB makes good sense. My point on this is that none of us know exactly how the Bills see this coming together. We won't know for sure until Roger reads pick 25 to all of us. What we do know for sure is that Beane is not going to allow the defense to start the season with a undermanned secondary. I trust Beane and I suggest the rest of us should as well. -
Collins was all finished before showing up in Indy. After he was hurt, they tried to continue running a wide open offense, throwing the ball all over the field. Between turnovers and three and outs they were a mess. They repeatedly put a pretty good defense in bad situations throughout every game. The fact that Irsay remained quiet throughout the mess was a pretty good indication that he was onboard. He would normally be very outspoken when his team was playing poorly. I was living in Indy at that time and saw it first hand. Even the local news media talked and joked openly about sucking for Luck.

Gunner's 2022 Draft Quarterback Evaluations
Florida Bills Fanatic replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Excellent review. It's hard to take exception with much that you have written. It is very consistent with what I have read and what I have seen in game action with these guys. As always, most will be drafted above what their talent would logically support. Here's hoping that two or three go prior to pick 25, thus dropping more talent to the Bills. Thanks for taking the time to pull this together. -
If two have to go, I would not be surprised if it is Hyde and Oliver. Hyde appears to have lost a step. Oliver has not had the kind of impact that the team should expect from a ninth overall pick in the draft. I like both of these players but they are the two that are more easily replaced than the others. We all need to keep in mind that the cap will continue to grow with the escalation of tv revenues and Beane has shown the ability to plan ahead.

Highly unlikely given that it was the Chargers and the league that initiated the action leading to the move and a shared stadium. From everything I read at the time, the Rams weren't excited about sharing the market with another team and had to be convinced by the league.

Camp meat.....everyone just needs to chill out

It will be a long time before the Chargers meet their contractual commitments regarding the new stadium in LA. They're not going anywhere for quite a while.

Top 10 Herd Hierarchy following Free Agency
Florida Bills Fanatic replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
I watch his show whenever I have the opportunity. He calls things as he sees them and ruffles some feathers in the process. He is right more often than he is wrong. His show covers a wide variety of topics. I believe his views on men's college basketball are very good. I believe that he has very good contacts in various professional sports leagues and thus gets pretty good information. He's not out to please everyone and he isn't apologetic about it. I understand why some people don't like him but I do. -

Bruce Arians steps down - moves to Front Office
Florida Bills Fanatic replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Contrary to the belief of some, Bowles is a very good coach. The JESTS were/are a dumpster fire of a front office and did little to provide a competitive roster for Bowles and his staff. He was fired but the problem in New York was not related to coaching. Bowles transformed the TB defense to be one of the best units in the league (even with a bunch of injuries in 2021). Players like him and they will play hard for him. Tampa should easily win their division this year. -
2022 WR List…who do you like?
Florida Bills Fanatic replied to Magnum Force's topic in The Stadium Wall
Good work putting this data together. I think Williams would be a great pick. Unfortunately, it may be more relevant to look at who will be available at pick 57. The Bills really need a WR with the speed to stretch the field to create space for Diggs, Knox, and Davis. There are some guys on your list that can fill that need and should be available when the Bills pick on day two. -
Off Topic guess Lamar’s new contract
Florida Bills Fanatic replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
Gotta be careful with that. Could be in the same kind of trouble as Watson...just sayin' -
The use of public funds is always a sensitive topic. We always seem to get upset over these highly visible expenditures and ignore the multitude of wasteful spending by the state every year. With the stadium, it will at least generate a return of tax revenue that will cover the $800 M during its useful life. For those that argue that Terry and Kim have the resources to pay for the stadium themselves, they are not taking into account the other communities that would pay significant amounts of money to lure the Bills out of Buffalo. It is like a competitive bidding situation where Western New York had the right of first refusal. Losing the Bills would be another nail in the coffin for an area that continues to lose population, jobs and relevance. If people in New York want to get upset about something, they should look into the reasons why the state is so regulated and taxed so highly that it has driven so many businesses and industries out of the state. Fix that problem and $800 M becomes a drop in the bucket.

I agree with you. After the breathless immediate local media reaction, dissenting views have started to surface. Miami paid way too much to KC, paid way too much to Hill, and Tua isn't a downfield passer that can make use of Hill's speed. It is thought that even with o-line additions, it is still a below average unit.

I don't think the Saints have any interest in Mayfield after they signed Winston. Just after the draft where Mayfield went first overall, there was talk that most of the teams were down on Mayfield and considered him as a likely bust. Right now he isn't much of an upgrade over the guys that are projected starters on teams with bad QB situations. Because of that I don't see much interest in spending the extra money and draft picks to acquire him.
-
I agree with you. Hill's shelf life is about to expire. His performance has been up and down. He's had the type of nagging injuries (hamstring, foot, back) that players like him tend to have as they get older. He is not a good route runner and tends to free lance, causing problems for the offence and Mahomes. KC knows Hill better than anyone else and the fact that they are ready to move on should tell the rest of us something. Additionally, Miami is notoriously known for making really dumb transactions, so it should not be surprising to any of us that KC sought them out as a trade partner. IMHO, Miami paid way more for this WR than they should have. This whole transaction smells like another Steven Ross special.

Trading Edmunds makes no sense at this point
Florida Bills Fanatic replied to bubba2018's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm going to reserve my opinion on Edmunds until I see some decent d-line play in front of him. Both Edmunds and Milano have been hampered by some really bad play in front of them. Both of those guys routinely have the DT's pushed back into them, preventing pursuit to the ball. I think some of the recent d-line signings will improve the underlying problem. If Edmunds still struggles, it will be time to move on. -
This draft class is pretty deep in very good WR talent and will be available into second and third rounds. CB is not as deep and the talent drops off pretty fast after the top six guys. If those guys are all gone at pick 25, WR may be the best choice. If one of the six CB's are there, CB will probably be the smartest pick. If they go CB in round one, it is likely that he will become the CB #1 for the Bills at the end of White's second contract. Many CB #1 guys with diminishing skills end up having to chase a third contract with another team. It is likely to happen to White also. The end of a rookie deal and White's second contract seem to align for a workable transition. When it comes to Beane and his drafting, it will be anybody's guess. If he really likes a player that falls to pick 25 regardless of position, he will pull the trigger.

Rams taking calls re: Robert Woods
Florida Bills Fanatic replied to ny33's topic in The Stadium Wall
Money, age and injury make Woods a bad idea. I like the guy but not in Buffalo. -
Good analysis and thanks for putting it together. It might be interesting to look at the second tier of free agents. Most of the ones listed above are going to get decent sized contracts and may be out of Beane's price range. We all get caught up with the big names that are easily recognizable and hardly think about cap limitations. I have a feeling that the free agents from this point forward will not be widely known players. Realistically, the number 2 corner starting position is the only one that is really open. The fourth WR after Diggs, Davis, and L'il Dirty will start the season as a limited role player. The rest of the draftees will get a chance to compete but most likely end up as depth players or on the practice squad. That's kind of the way it goes on good teams with good rosters.

BLOCKBUSTER! Packers Trade Adams to Vegas
Florida Bills Fanatic replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
I guess we'll all find out whether Adams can be great without Rodgers throwing him the ball. I think he'll still be pretty good but not $28 M a year good. -
Front Office & Free Agency Moves
Florida Bills Fanatic replied to OnTheRocks's topic in The Stadium Wall
Mean Beane is probably waiting until the Watson circus runs its course. Available QB's are most likely noncommittal if they think they have a chance at a starting job somewhere ( Winston, Dalton, Mariota, etc.).
