Week 2 Bills @ Dolphins Postgame Thread
CincyBillsFan replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And Beasley had some big catches to. That 2nd & 24 first down catch was fantastic. The Diggs effect is clearly coming into play as both Brown & Beasley continue having great production. Another cool stat is that through 2 games Allen has thrown 3 TD passes to three different rookies! -

Living down here in Cincinnati you learn real quick that the Bengal's do not fire coaches quickly. Given the covid and Burrow's promising start I would bet that Taylor's job is safe for two more years - at a minimum. These are two good points. * Burrow will learn that he needs to surprise teams with his athleticism and not make it a central part of his game. If you sleep on Burrow he can rip 20 yards off on a run. But unlike Allen he's not going to break a lot of tackles or stiff arm LB's. * Maybe he's just shaking off the cobwebs but so far Green has not looked good IMO. He seems slow and and he's not making the circus catches he used to. Diggs was a vastly superior pickup at WR compared to Green. -

Put Burrow on Cleveland and the score is 56 - 7. Mayfield really does under perform considering the talent on that offense. -

That was a bad pass. I would have kept running it. What a dumb penalty by the Bengal player. -

Compare how Burrow looks with no preseason playing on a team with no O-line to how Rosen looked. I think Joe is going to be okay. He's got the tough mentality to survive the next couple of years. -

You can't drop that pass in the NFL. -

That was a nice drive. One of the things that Burrow has is that he is pretty unflappable. -

We have a saying in Cincinnati for what is happening to Burrow. He is getting Klingered. -

Having watched Burrow play last week and this week I agree. And he's doing it with a very bad O-line. The only other guy I can think off getting off to this kind of start was Dan Marino. But he didn't come in until game 4 or 5 and he had a full preseason. -

Wow the Bengals had Burrow throw the ball 28 times in the 1st half. This in spite of him being a rookie who didn't get a single preseason snap. He must be lighting it up in practice. The AFC is LOADED with great young QB's. -

NFL refs suck. How do you miss that? -

Great point. He also throws a very catchable ball. It's like a 25 yard hand off. -

I think Burrow's elite trait will be accuracy. If he progresses the way I believe he will Drew Brees is his upper limit. -

Mayfield is hot and the Bengals D is really struggling. Cincy has a lot of work to do in rebuilding it's O-line AND defense. -

Burrow looks sharp. He's going to be a good one. -
I know I've been beating this dead horse on a couple of threads but YPA is not the same on a WINDY day at Rich Stadium as it is on a calm weather day or in a dome. That this so called expert with the famous name doesn't get that is head scratching. Pushing the ball downfield last Sunday was a recipe for failure.

PFF Refocused Week 1 - Bills vs Jets
CincyBillsFan replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And lets not forget the wind. When you see a refs jersey flapping around you know there are some serious gusts blowing through the stadium. As Bills fans we understand that you throw the ball differently in these types of games. If the wind is at your back then you have to deliberately under throw the receiver which is what I think we saw with the Allen to Beasely throw. Bottom line is that Allen completing over 70% of his passes for over 300 yards in that wind was an impressive accomplishment. -

We are? I submit that people who post on a Bills message board are NOT casual fans. If you can be this negative after yesterday's game I shudder to think how negative you will be after the inevitable Allen clunker. -
Judas Priest it figures that on a day when Allen had one of if not his best passing performances folks would come out of the woodwork and analyze EVERY freaking throw for signs of imperfection. If you watch ANY NFL game you will ALWAYS see crappy passes now and then. Just like you see dropped passes or missed FG's or sloppy tackling or missed blocks or guys going offside on a hard count. NO QB, including even the best like Mahomes could withstand this level of bat feces crazy scrutiny. I get that non-Bills fans looking to have some fun with a good troll would come on here and spout this stuff but why would any Bills fan? Especially after yesterday? Psychologists probably have a term for this. But I'll use the non-medical term of calling them "sad sacks".

So Darnold was seeing Casper again
CincyBillsFan replied to BuffaloBills1998's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The wind also played a role in Darnold's struggles today. It was howling as evidenced by the refs jersey's flapping. We've seen QB's struggle throwing the ball in these winds for the last 60 years in Buffalo. That's what makes Allen's passing day all the more impressive. He was deadly accurate in the face of a serious west wind. -
The low throws were by design. You don't get your WR killed and the ball doesn't pop up into the air for an INT. I also noticed that the refs jersey's were flapping big time which tells me that it was very windy out there. To make the throws Allen did with the wind swirling & howling like it was is very impressive. I can't wait to see what happens when the wind is calm and defenses have to defend the WHOLE field. Brown & Diggs are going to feast.

Allen only had one bad pass IMO and that was missing Brown for the TD. His audible for the TD was exceptional. That was 2nd level play for a 3rd year QB. Cut down on the called Allen runs. He's not a RB and is most dangerous running the ball after the pass protection breaks down. that 3rd & long conversion where Allen danced down the sideline was a thing of beauty. He spread the ball around nicely. All 3 WR's were involved on the game. He is the guy. Of that there is no doubt IMO.
-
Yes I did. And it was to point out how wrong your original comment was. I never said that CMC or any RB in the history of the NFL could on their own win a team championships. Even a QB doesn't have that power. My point was that an elite RB like CMC could be the difference maker that propels an otherwise good team to a championship. And if you don' think that Barry Sanders could have lifted any number of good teams to a championship back in the day then you haven't watched Sanders play.
-
But Henry is a RB and he carried his team. And CMC has proven over the last 2 seasons that he can be an every play, between the tackles RB. Sure he's not a DH in size but overall he's a better RB IMO. Detroit never won a lot of games with Sanders at RB but that doesn't change the fact that if the Lions had traded Sanders away to a playoff level team he would have probably been the reason that team won a SB or two. I see McCaffrey as a Thurman Thomas type & caliber of RB. If there was one RB in the NFL I would give up 2 first round picks for it's this guy. He's a hard worker, "process" type of guy who brings great talent & versatility to the field. Put him on a team with other offensive talent and like Thurman he can be a dominating player who takes a team to the next level.
