  1. Agree 100%. First that ball traveled 56 yards in the air. You're looking at what 60 plus yards to hit Diggs in stride? Last year the issue with Allen's deep throws was that he was overthrowing his receivers. Part of his success this year is he isn't overthrowing them but is slightly under throwing them. This is by design as it increases the probability of completing the deep pass. My guess is that in practice Diggs wins most of those "50/50" deep balls against Buffalo's very talented DB's. In yesterdays game that was more like an 80/20 ball as Allen put it exactly where Diggs could go up and make the play.
  2. KC. New England is a zombie vampire that needs a steak put in its head.
  3. So this is the new way to knock Allen? People can't point to his decision making or accuracy or deep throws or 300 yard games or touch so they create bizarre "what if" scenarios? I think it's fair to say that back in 2018 Allen had a much higher upside then Darnold. He also had a much lower downside. Now early in their 3rd season, Allen has grown into that upside and Darnold has hovered near his downside. It's really that simple. And let's quit acting like Allen didn't come into a cluster frack his rookie season in Buffalo. I love McD & Bean but they did Allen NO favors his first year here. Both our coach & GM were new to their jobs and while they had a great idea for a culture to implement in Buffalo it was a work in progress in 2018. In 2018 the Bills fielded a terrible offense. And until they made the brilliant decision to bring an old pro like Anderson and solid backup like Barkely in the Bills brain trust did nothing to help Allen in the QB room. I mean Peterman & McCarron. Really? And don't get me going on the fact that Allen hardly took any first team snaps in training camp or the preseason games yet was starting in week 2. But in spite of this Allen showed flashes of greatness amidst the offensive rubble of 2018. I saw this topic on one of the Jets boards and the problem is that you can't treat it as a single variable. The presence of Allen on the Jets and Darnold on the Bills in 2018 would have altered everything that followed. The Bills clearly loved what they saw in 2018 and started building a PASSING offense around Allen that year and continued to build it going into this year. Who knows what they would have done if Darnold was here? Maybe triple down on defense and the running game. Ditto for the Jets. Against some pretty long odds Allen appears to be reaching his very high ceiling. Back in 2018 a lot of "experts" said that should he do this, however unlikely, he would be the best QB of that draft. Well he's gone and done it and IMO he is the best QB from that draft.
  4. I think it was back in 2011 and the Bills had just beaten the Pats to go 3 - 0 and they came down here to Cincinnati which was 0 - 3. Can you say 4 - 0! But it was not to be as the Bills lost to the Bengals and the wheels fell off the team after that. Today the Bills played against a good team that was fired up and treating the game like it was their Super Bowl. The Bills won 30 - 23. They never trailed and had leads of 14 - 3; 17 - 6 and 30 -16. A solid win on the road against a very good team to go 4 - 0. Absolutely fantastic. Sure the D struggled through the first two and a half quarters but they got their act together and played great the rest of the way. Allen and the offense had another great game. Scoring 30 points and going up and down the field. Allen completed 24 of 34 passes and his 10 incompletions included at least 5 deliberate throw aways and at least two dropped passes. We all breathed a sigh of relief when Allen came back from the injury. And for the record I didn't see any difference in Allen's throwing mechanic or motion pre or post injury. Three of Allen's best passes in the game came in the 2nd half - the "TD" pass to Brown (are the NY review refs drinking on the job); that big 3rd down conversion throw to Beasley and the 50 yard deep ball to Diggs. And if Allen's shoulder was at risk would they have had him sneak it in on FIRST down From 6 inches out? Allen's sack had me and I assume a lot of others screaming at the TV but we're going to get that kind of play from him once a game. For me Allen is the first QB since Kelly retired that gives me the confidence that Jim did. Kelly couldn't always deliver and there will be games where Allen won't either. But football is not about perfection - it doesn't exist in this sport. But Allen is in total command of the offense in the same way Kelly was and like Kelly Allen can make magic. This is the guy and we can win it all with him at the helm.
  5. Throwing INT's when you're winning is very bad. Frankly, Rypien could have had 2 more picks. Let's go Jets.
  6. To be fair that was a harsh PF call. I mean it was a bang bang play - Driskel running hard and then slides. Not sure how the Jet was supposed to avoid him? It's not like he drilled him with his helmet.
  7. And Frank Gore scored that TD at Met Life stadium. We've now gone full Kevin Bacon.
  8. I'm not laughing to much at these teams because the sad truth is that as a Bills fan I've watched a hundred of these types of game over the last 20 years. Thank you Beane & McD.
  9. I'm thinking roughing could be subjective in certain situations. That's where the "unnecessary", which is a subjective attribute, comes in. But you're right it's not an automatic penalty like smacking the QB in the head.
  10. I don't think there's a zero tolerance penalty like hitting a QB in the head. If the ref threw a flag there it would have had to be along the lines of generic roughing. Which I think it was.
  11. And maybe wishing he wasn't - ouch!
  12. Okay Darnold is body slammed and injured. A Jet does a wimpy pile driver on Rypien and it's a 15 yard penalty? Someone needs to tell that moron of a ref that makeup calls don't work that way.
  13. They kept thinking he was going to slide and he didn't. I'm happy for Darnold.
  14. Not sure I fully buy into this. People seem to forget that Allen walked into a crappy situation here. He was behind Peterman and McCarron, didn't take many first team snaps and had an offense with arguably the worst personnel in the entire 2018 NFL. A leaky O-line and the worst receiving & TE group in the league. And his QB coach never played QB. Then Peterman has an epic meltdown in Baltimore and Allen is thrust into the starting lineup in week 2. He then faces three playoff teams in his first three games. Did okay with San Diego, struggled big time at Green Bay and had a spectacular game against Minnesota. Let's not forget that after the Baltimore & San Diego games folks on the national scene were wondering if the Bills could beat Alabama! Allen took his lumps and had his ups and downs his first year here. He got injured and came back and played much better in his last 6 games. And for all his accuracy issues he also had some spectacular passing & running plays. I'm unconvinced that had Darnald been drafted by Buffalo and went through a similar situation he wouldn't have completely melted down and had twice the TO's that Allen had.
  15. This is classic Cowherd. He knows Allen should be ranked ahead of Carr but if he wants his Tweet to get clicks leave Allen off the list and put Carr on top. BOOM, click & comment city.
  16. A+ Football is not about perfection. Allen had over 300 yards passing, 4 TD passes and 1 TD rushing. He had 2 TO's but it's hard to count the INT against him as it was one of the worst calls I've seen in some time. Through two and a half quarters, Allen was perfect. Five possessions and four TD's as the Bills raced out o a 28 - 3 lead. Then adversity struck and with the game on the line Allen marched the offense the length of the field and won the game. That's an A+ grade in my book.
  17. Before we get to depressed about the defense this reminds me of the Philly game last year. After we were gashed on the ground by the Eagles I didn't think they could fix it and EVERY team would run the ball down our throats. Instead our run D got better for the rest of the season. I suspect that what we saw today was more a schematic problem then a talent issue. They will fix it. Also this is where not having fans in the stands hurt us. Do you think down 28 - 3 the Rams make this a game if the house is packed? I don't. One final thought. Allen has arrived.
  18. A lot of the "experts" basically said the same thing about Allen but not with as much malice. This is why these people won't ever admit that they were wrong. And as bad as this clowns take on Allen was his praise of Rosen looks a bit misplaced in hindsight: Loser: Sam Bradford (and Everybody Else in Josh Rosen’s Way) Two years ago, Sam Bradford signed a $36 million contract with the Eagles—two months before the Eagles selected Carson Wentz with the second pick in the 2016 draft. A month and a half ago, Bradford signed a $20 million contract with the Cardinals—and Thursday night, Arizona traded up to take Rosen, who surprisingly dropped all the way to the 10th pick in the draft. Rosen provided the quote of the night about his fall: Some feel that Rosen might be the best quarterback in the draft, and that the Cardinals got great value to find him at no. 10. But alas, it means the Bradford era in Arizona could end before—or soon after—it starts. Poor Sam—err, actually, extremely rich Sam. But regardless, it’s another bummer for the former no. 1 pick.
  19. Judas priest when will NFL D coaches understand that the prevent doesn't prevent anything. I hate this defense. Miami is lucky it's not 28 - 14 going into the 4th.
  20. Even worse did you hear this jack wagon from MINNESOTA call Buffalo "western Siberia"? If Buffalo is Siberia what is Minneapolis - Antarctica?
  21. Some folks are talking about the slight under-throw on this great pass. As I think back to last year Allen was missing his deep throws by putting the ball 10 yards over the WR's head. Clearly he's adjusted and that pass was placed exactly where he wanted it to be. It seems to me that on the deep passes Allen has changed his throwing motion. Last night I saw Wilson's deep throws and Allen seems to be using Wilson's mechanics here. As an aside this is the 2nd straight year where Allen focused on improving a certain aspect of his game and he did. This may be his greatest attribute - the ability & burning desire to get better.
  22. It's situational with Allen. On his first run, where he was safe at home with that nice slide, it was a first down play. The Angry Man run was on 3rd & 8.
  23. Well that brawl wasn't the best example of social distancing that we've seen.
  24. I remember that play and it was a PERFECT pass by Allen. What happened is that Beasley got knocked of his rout into Diggs rout. This caused Diggs to hesitate. Had he not had to do this the pass hits Digs in the hands at full stride! Watch the replay and you can clearly see what I describe.
  25. Their points are not valid IMO when they lie by omission. If you only focus on the negative plays for a QB you can make any of them look bad or have issues. Like you point out you can't discuss a QB like Allen without talking about his freaky great plays and year to year improvements.
