Or maybe he didn't watch Allen play in 2018? King is showing his ignorance with that statement - big time. -

Gameday around the NFL 10/18

Rogers narrowly misses throwing a 3rd INT on the first half. TB beating down the undefeated Pack. The NFL is a grind. It's a long season where even good teams can lay a major egg. -
Week 6: Chiefs at Bills (+5): Monday 5pm on Fox
CincyBillsFan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is the type of game where the losers fan base is going to go nuts and claim the season is over. Of course last year the Chiefs lost 2 in a row on their way to a Super Bowl win and back in 1992 the Bills, on their way to their 3rd SB, lost 37 - 10 to Miami and 20 - 3 to Oakland in back to back weeks. It's a long season and if we win 11 games in the regular season it was a success. If we win 12 or more it was a spectacular success. -
Wow I'm actually stunned by this graph. I had no idea that they were dropping so many of his passes. And my understanding is that if the throw was "inaccurate" it doesn't count as a drop. If the Bills receivers can clean this up we're sitting golden. Also, this was not a bad game by Allen. It was an average game by our young QB. The idea that it was a bad game is simply a mirage after watching him have four great games in a row.
-
I also think that the reason the ball was slightly behind Roberts was that Allen expected him to sit in the open area of the zone. Continuing towards the sideline in that coverage would have brought the WR AND ball back into coverage. Brown sits on that pattern and catches a perfectly thrown pass in the gut for a 1st down. But even with the miscommunication that was a very catchable ball. To end up as an INT was just very bad luck and a weird bounce of the ball.

Dawson Knox and the TE position
CincyBillsFan replied to McBean's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Knox is still a work in progress and he has the POTENTIAL to be a big time contributor. At the same time you're right that we need a lot more production out of our TE's - particularly between the 20 yard lines. My one concern is that the Bills offense is one dimensional . That we are a QB/WR driven O. This will work against lesser teams and when Allen and the guys are ON this is a hard offense to handle. But you can shut down the WR's if you don't have to worry about the TE's AND the RB's. The other glaring need on the Bills is a running game and a true #1 RB. -
Hello, resident Josh Allen "Hater" here to Report
CincyBillsFan replied to BigDingus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Posters have alluded to the idea that maybe the league has caught up with Allen and the Bills offense and this is the blueprint. The only thing wrong with this notion is that a lot has to go right in other areas for this approach to consistently work against the Bills O. * First, you need an offense that can take away Bills possessions by maintaining long drives. The Titans did this starting at the end of the first half. First there was their 90 yard TD drive that closed out the first half. Then they had a 5 plus minute drive to the Bills 45 that resulted in a punt to the Bill's 2 yard line to start off the 2nd half. The Bills then have a good drive that is snuffed out by a bad pass. After that the Bills had only one more possession with their 1st team O and that was for a TD. * 9 times out of 10, that pass to Roberts is either caught for a first down or dropped, not intercepted. * Teams re not going to get big punt returns to the Bills 30 yard line every game. * The Bills won't drop 5 - 6 passes every week against this type of D. * The Bills won't commit all those false starts every week either Other teams that use this approach, we're looking at you NE, will keep the Bills from exploding for over 30 points and 400 yards of O. But the Bills O will move the ball and score while chewing up TOP. These will be games the Bills win 24 - 16. A lot went wrong for the Bills and a lot went right for the Titans to give us last nights result. We may not see things play out this way again this season. -

I didn't see the hero ball from Allen some are talking about. Like the rest of the team he was off a bit but if you look at every one of his throws he made a lot more good ones then poor ones. The first INT was clearly on the receiver. The ball was a bit behind Roberts but that's caught 99% of the time in the NFL. The 2nd INT wasn't an example of hero ball at all. It was a bad decision where Allen misread the coverage. Big difference IMO. Allen took what he was given most of the night. The problem was the poor field position that forced the Bills to try to convert very long drives. Starting at your own 10, 9, 2 & 10 yard line is tough. Allen was actually exceptional converting 3rd & long tonight. With running plays more often losing yards then gaining them and way to many false starts the Bills faced and converted a bunch of 3rd and longs. If this is an example of Allen's floor then we're set at QB. I expect to see a rebound next week against KC. -
Josh Allen - week FIVE report card
CincyBillsFan replied to rayray808's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A B- is a fair grade. He had a lot more great throws then bad ones. Keep in mind that with our terrible running game (how many times did we LOSE yardage on a run?) and all to frequent false starts Allen faced and converted a lot of 3rd & longs. And every one of those conversions was an awesome throw. And Allen did take what was given him. True he forced a couple but that seemed more a reaction to the sense that the game was slipping away as our D couldn't stop them. And lets not forget the horrible field position. The Bills started drives at the 10, 9, 2 & 10 yard lines. As others have said if this is Allen's new floor then we're in for 10 - 12 years of awesome QBing from this guy. -

To be fair a lot of the bad field position was the direct result of the Bills not stopping the Titans deep in their own territory. To often the D allowed the Titans to move to our 40 - 45 yard line where their punter could pin us deep. -

Tonight we also saw the importance of field position when a defense is forcing you to take 15 plays to move 75 yards. On the drive that Allen had his bad INT we started at the 2 yard line because the D couldn't hold TN at their own 10 to start the 3rd quarter. As it was the Bills drove 70 yards overcoming holding & illegal procedure penalties. But the Titans were counting on a mistake - another holding call, sack or an INT and they got it. Had that drive started at the 35 we probably score before the INT. Frankly we've been struggling with bad field position all season as the D yields to many drives to midfield. -

People forget history. I've got the book "Relentless" by Sal Maiorana (awesome reference for EVERY Bills game played from 1960 through their last Super Bowl) and here are some of those regular season clunkers you allude to: 1990: Game 2 Miami 30 Bills 7. The Dolphins led 30 - 0 in the 4th quarter. 1991: Game 6 Chiefs 33 Bills 6. 1992: Game 5 Miami 37 Bills 10 at Rich Stadium. Kelly threw 4 INT's including a 103 yard pick six. Tally was quoted "Mama said there'd be days like this". Game 6 Raiders 20 Bills 3. Bills outscored 57 - 13 in back to back games. OUCH! Game 16 Oilers 27 Bills 3. 1993: Pitt 23 Bills 0. Kelly 7/19 for 110 yrds. Chiefs 23 Bills 7. The key to the Super Bowl Bills was their resiliency and ability to bounce back from nightmarish games. Now we get to see what these Bills are made of. -

On the bright side we had half a season worth of bad breaks happen in one game so we aught to be on the plus karma level over the next few games. A couple of thoughts: * I would rather we got beat down and embarrassed on National TV then to lose a close game. My sense is this team will be foaming at the mouth come next week against the Chiefs. * Allen had his worst game of the year but still actually played very well at times. The 1st INT was not on him but the 2nd one was. Overall he made some great throws and if this is the bottom for Allen he's going to be a great QB for the Bills over the next 10 - 15 years. * Uncharacteristically the Bills receivers dropped more balls today then they dd the previous 4 games combined. * The defense was very bad. Not only did they yield way to many TD's in the red zone, hold TN to 2FG's instead of TD's and this is a completely different game, but they allowed the Titans to dominate field position. Take the start of the 3rd quarter. After a penalty the Titans started at their own 10 yard line but were able to take 5 minutes off the clock and drive to midfield before punting the Bills to the 2 yard line. The bills had drive starts today from their own 10, 9, 2 & 10 yard lines. That's an awful lot of field to overcome. * The Bills desperately need an every down RB. Singletery is to slow and small to carry that load. Our inability to run the ball effectively this season caught up with us tonight. We can't get Felliciano back soon enough. Well on to the KC game. If the Bills are the elite team I think they are they will win this game. If they get handled again it will be a battle just to make the playoffs. -
Gameday Thread PreGame Bills @ Titans

If you wait long enough I'm sure Allen will have a bad game. Hell it might be tonight. But based on what I'm hearing from the multitude of Bengals & Browns fans down here in Cincinnati (yes there are Browns fans here mostly in the northern suburbs) Allen has already shown the football world he's for real. Two years ago all I heard from these people was how inaccurate Allen was and that he wasn't a real QB. The term "trash" was used a lot to describe him. Today, EVERYONE I know down here says he's one of the best young QB's in the NFL. That they can't believe how much better he's gotten. For a lot of them it was the Thanksgiving Cowboys game that turned their heads. They actually believed Allen couldn't hit a receiver. So when they saw him dissect the Dallas D they came away very impressed. The other game that got these folks on the Allen train was the Steelers game. They knew from experience how tough it was to play in Pittsburgh when the Steelers are fielding a dominating D. Allen acquit himself well that night in their eyes. -
This. That throw convinced me he could be a classic pocket QB if he had to. It still ranks as one of the best deep throws I have ever seen at any level of football. Completing a 75 yard TD pass as three D-linemen are engulfing him and the ball just shoots out like it was launched from a howitzer hitting Foster in stride. Every time I watch that throw it's amazing.

Week 5: Bills at Titans on Tuesday Night Football
CincyBillsFan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think this also reflects the confidence in the Bills offense producing enough points to win the game even if the opponent hits on a couple of pass plays. The D can take chances against the pass in a game where shutting down the run is the key against stopping an opponents offense. Last year the Bills likley would have only scored 16 - 20 points in this game. This year they go in pretty confident of the O scoring close to 30 every time they take the field. -

Dammit Josh you can't do that! What the hell were you thinking man! Do you know how easy it might have been to intercept that ball. Until Allen stops being reckless with his decisions he's never going to be a great QB. -

Is it me or do a lot of DB's drop Mahomes INT's? I wonder if the mental pressure of playing against Mahomes and his receivers doesn't mess with the DB's. It just seems like every time I watch KC they get a break when a DB droops an easy INT. -
