Think about how he dealt with the Patriots defense in the first quarter. A lot of dinking & dunking as he moved the ball with precise short passing efficiency. Hell he looked like Tua for a quarter. Then once he and DaBold had it figured out Allen started launching missiles into the heart of the Pats secondary. He was actually cold blooded in his evisceration of the Pats D.

I think Allen and the fully healthy starters should play 2 or 3 series. Basically follow what they did last year against the Jets in the last game. If Brown is back I would have him play the entire first half and the first offensive series in the 2nd half to acclimatize for the playoff game. I don't get the fear of Baltimore. EVERY AFC playoff team is dangerous if you don't bring your A game. IMO the Bills defense matches up well against the Ravens with their athletic & fast LB's & Safeties. And the Baltimore defense seems to have lost a step. This should mean that unless it's a howling windstorm the Bills could go up and down the field like the Browns did.

I suspect that this burst of WR activity is less about Brown & Beasley's availability and more a reaction to the Cleveland Browns effect. Given how dependent the Bills offense is on having 4 & 5 WR sets they couldn't afford to have a covid catastrophe wipe out half their receiving core. So Beane may be assembling a shadow WR group just in case.

Bills host WR Tanner Gentry for visit.
CincyBillsFan replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Aren't there different rules governing practice squad call ups and such for the playoffs? Teams are going to have increased flexibility to carry more guys and move them around without the risk of losing them? I suspect we're seeing the Cleveland Browns effect in full operation here. They lost all four starting WR's to covid. If it could happen to them it could happen to anyone. It's almost as if the Bills are assembling a shadow receiving group just in case. -
People are to quick to jump to negative conclusions on something like this. The reality is that BOTH Beasley & Brown are questionable going into the playoffs. However it's likely that Brown will be able to go this week and week one of the playoffs and Beasley is likley to be available by week 2 of the playoffs. Worst case scenario is both Brown & Beasely are unavailable for the first playoff game and the best case scenario is that they're both available. So it makes sense to pad the roster depth at WR in the event the worst case scenario plays out. Smart, proactive move by the Bill's front office.

What to do with Dawson Knox
CincyBillsFan replied to bobobonators's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This. Knox has stepped up his game big time and if he continues to improve the Bills will be getting great TE play very cheap which is a big deal over the next couple of years. Sure Knox had a bad drop but his three catches were outstanding and every one was a big play in Bill's TD drives. Even on his drop you have to like how he got open. I was on the fence with Knox figuring he needed to show flashes the 2nd half of the year and IMO he has. It wouldn't shock me to see him have a dominating game in the playoffs as DC's fixate on stopping Diggs, Beasley & Brown. -
Other conclusions would be: * This is a one year blip and the Texans will be back at the top next season. * A franchise QB can elevate the play of a bad team so that they lose by one score and not by three scores. * QB's like Stafford and Watson this year pad their stats with a lot of garbage time yards/TD's and playing against prevent defenses.

This clown show of an announcing tandem can paint this pig bright pink and it doesn't change the fact that this is a terrible look for Tua. Benching Tua to bring in Fitz is a powerful indictment of Tua. Then Fitz starts hitting passes downfield against a banged up Raiders defense and I'm wondering if Tua really is the guy for Miami.

Your Favorite/Most Memorable Bills Christmas Gift
CincyBillsFan replied to Wizard's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not my favorites but some of my more interesting: * A piece of Rich Stadium's old astroturf encased in clear thick plastic. * A set of official Buffalo Bills teaspoons with the Bills logo proudly visible on each handle. * A large Buffalo Bills wall clock. It's a Bills helmet mounted in a frame with red velvet background. I've been told it's beyond hideous. * A box of Flutie flakes But my most prestigious gift was an official Buffalo Bills WHAMMY WIENER! -

There is real hatred between the Bengals & Steelers franchises. When Pitt opened the game flat on offense and then got careless with the ball I'm not surprised that the Bengals have jumped all over them. -

Actually I wish Big Ben and the Pitt offense had wet the bed with THREE TO's in the first half. Every week is new in the NFL and transitive math has NEVER worked in football. This is why the Denver game was so dangerous for the Bills. The Broncos had a good D and it was their chance on national TV to strut their stuff. For the Bengals it's the same thing with the added motivation of truly hating the Steelers. -

So do you think the Jets discredited our win over the Rams? This is the NFL and this is a nasty rivalry. -

How the Allen narrative has changed.....
CincyBillsFan replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That drives me crazy to. Almost every non Western NY review of Allen babbles on about him sucking his first two years and then magically is great in his third. It's lazy and shows they don't have a clue at what they're talking about. The Allen progression can be broken down into 6 segments: Segment 1: Thrown to the wolves in game 2 of 2018. Bad offense combined with Allen being raw and not getting many snaps with the 1st team in preseason. Sure he struggled big time with head scratching throws & decisions but he also flashed brilliant like with the Vikings game. Segment 2: After he came back from his injury he dazzled with his running game and started making those signature Allen super throws. Bills won 3 games and though Allen still struggled at times he also shined. Clear improvement from the 1st segment. Segment 3: The first 3 games of 2019 saw Allen much improved at reading coverages and throwing the ball around. But still he was to careless with the ball and a disastrous NE game made us wonder. Segment 4: After the NE game Allen elevated his QB play significantly and helped the Bills clinch a playoff spot with 2 games left in the season. Had an okay game in the playoffs. Clearly the improvement of Allen from the first half of 2018 to the end of 2019 was as big as his jump this year. At the end of last season there was no doubt Allen could function as a pocket passing QB that could read defenses. Now the only question was how high was up? Segment 5: We saw how high was up through the first 4 games this season as Allen shredded defenses and piled up stats. Then Allen got dinged up and faced back to back playoff caliber teams that adjusted how you defended Allen and he struggled for a couple of weeks. Segment 6: Allen got healthy and adjusted his own play to match the new reality of how defenses would play the Bills. He added patience to his resume and he is now playing better QB then he was at the start of the season. -
I read a Denver media summary of the game and they mentioned 34 mph wind gusts during the game! It might explain why Lock never threw anything downfield. If it was that windy it made Allen's game even more impressive.
