  1. Okay so again I see a great QB overthrow a wide open receiver on a deep ball. Why is it when Allen does it some folks melt down and call it a big problem? Those are low percentage plays under the best of circumstances. Very few QB's, even among the best of them.can have Russel Wilson's deep ball placement.
  2. That sack of Carr made me think of Allen's amazing escape from two Texans and long pass completion to Diggs. We take Allen's ecapability for granted. I'm a Joe Burrow fan and think he was the best prospect from that draft. Only time will tell. But for sure the AFC is loaded with great young QB's.
  3. And they spent over FIVE BILLION DOLLARS for this?
  4. If he's hearing boos then shame on those doing the booing.
  5. For me this is a classic over hyped first half of the season game and people will overreact (including me) to the outcome. If we win it must mean Super Bowl baby and if we lose it's the end of our run and we'll never get past the Chiefs.
  6. YES! Officials on that last drive were terrible.
  7. They probably figure NE is more apt to kick two FG's then score one TD.
  8. I thought Buffalo's offense played great. They scored 40 points, had 450 yards, 26 first downs and had over 38 minutes TOP.
  9. Rain is having an impact in this game. Makes the way the Bills handled it this afternoon all the more impressive.
  10. Edmunds, Oliver and Knox had great games. Allen had a sneaky good game to. He had some amazing throws and runs. A little lost in the Bills spectacular defensive performance - 0 points and only 109 yards - was that the offense scored 40 and gained 450 yards on a rainy day.
  11. I would add Baker Mayfield to that last group. Burrow is a reincarnation of Bengal's great Ken Anderson. The AFC is freaking loaded at QB.
  12. The AFC is LOADED at QB. Both guys are playing well and showing all the potential in the world.
  13. Dropping the Jets on Britain has to be a violation of the Geneva Convention.
  14. And I believe the Bills are undefeated when Allen tops 300 yards which is an amazing and unusual stat. A lot of losing QB's get 300 yards. That we've won every game he does this is interesting.
  15. What are you debating? * That Allen is or isn't a franchise QB? IMO there is no debate here - he is the Bills franchise QB. * That Allen is a top 10 QB? Again IMO there is no debate here. He is a top 10 QB. Now I also think he's a top 5 QB but that is a reasonable place for debate. And for the record Allen didn't play poorly in the first two games. He was average. And if he's only average through an entire season then yes we have cause for concern. But after two games there was no reason for anyone to get down on Allen and the offense.
  16. I have never seen a QB play that well and put up those kind of numbers on a wind game at Rich Stadium. Can anyone remember a game with this kind of wind and a QB throwing for those kind of stats?
  17. Was this really true though? Sure most of the time Kelly was in control but even during the Super Bowl run he had clusters of really bad games during the regular season. In fact my recollection of the Kelly years was that he could be frustrating in having two great games followed by an epic clunker. I suspect that if we're lucky Allen may have a similar career trajectory. EVERY season during the SB run, there were games the Bills won in spite of Kelly. And to be clear Kelly is the greatest QB to play for Buffalo and he's a legit Hall of Famer. My goal here though is to put things into perspective. I've been going back through Sal Maiorana's Bills book "Relentless". It has a box score for every game played by Buffalo from 1960 - 1994. I've already posted a couple of examples of very slow starts by Kelly similar to what we're seeing with Allen now. And here's a couple of more games where Kelly really struggled at the height of the Bills Super Bowl run: 1991 - Game 9 vs NE; Kelly was 14/28 for 237 yards and 2 INT & 1 TD Bills won 22 -17 - Game 12 vs NE; Kelly was 26/44 for 204 yards and 4 INT & 1 TD Bills lost 16 - 13. NE was 6 - 10 that year. 1992 - Game 5 vs Miami; Kelly was 25/48 for 306 yards and 4 INT (one pick 6) & 1 TD Bills lost 37 - 10. - Game 8 vs NE; Kelly was 22/33 for 205 and 2 INT & 2 TD. Bills won 16 - 7. NE was 2 - 14 that year. - Game 12 vs Colts; Kelly was 11/33 for 184 yards and 2 INT & 1 TD. Bills lost 16 - 13. Colts were 9 - 7 that year. - Game 13 vs Jets; Kelly was 20/35 for 215 yards and 2 INT (including a pick 6) & 1 TD Bills lost 24 - 17/ Jets were 4 - 12 that year There are other games like this to. Bottom line is that Allen will have bad games and some of those bad games will come against crap teams. But we won't know if we should be worried until AFTER this season. At the end of the day Kelly could put his bad games behind him and over the course of the season he would have 3 great games for every bad one.
  18. Yea and it's a good thing Washington caught a break with Allen at QB this week! The Bills are so doomed.
  19. "And this guy must be holding" to describe the only Jet O-lineman actually blocking someone.
  20. And don't forget that in the loss to the Raiders Jackson lost a fumble in the 4th quarter and another in OT which directly resulted in the Ravens loss. Yet we don't here long lectures of "ball security" when Lamar is being talked about.
  21. Do you watch football much? Every week the best QB's miss seeing wide open receivers. Looking at every Allen pass then taking the ones he looks bad at to make a point is the very definition of cherry picking. And just because Allen missed seeing a wide open WR on THIS play doesn't negate the fact that the receivers do not seem to be consistently getting separation. So I'll do some cherry picking to. Allen's TD pass to Diggs in the 1st quarter was spectacular. Only a couple of QB's could make that throw. And I still don't know how he saw Diggs open in the first place. That was huge for early game momentum as it was a 3rd down and the Bills have to settle for a FG if he doesn't make that throw. 14 -0 is a lot better then 10 -0. The replay you're pointing to, where Allen didn't see a wide open receiver, was just a lost down & missed opportunity. The Bills still want on and scored a TD that drive. So my cherry picked throw had a much bigger impact on the game then the one you site.
  22. This is misleading. First, Pittsburgh & Miami will very likely have much better records then the Jets & Giants did in 2019. And for sure the Dolphins/Steeler's both have much better defenses. When listing fumbles you should only list fumbles lost. After two games Allen has lost only one fumble compared to his losing two fumbles in the first two games of 2019. So through two games in 2021 Allen has one turnover. Through the first two games in 2019 Allen had four turnovers. While the stat board shows that Allen doesn't have a rush TD this season we all know that if the game was close he easily scores a TD on that last run against Miami. It was smart of him to go down after he got the 1st down rather then taking a nasty hit as he crossed the goal line. Why is that? I posted stats showing how terrible Jim Kelly was through the first THREE games of the 1988 season. If anything having mediocre early season games is better then going into a slump in the 2nd half of the season. Remember how Russel Wilson was everyone's MVP after he got off to a torrid start last yaer? How did it end up for Wilson?
  23. I voted twice!
  24. I'm not sure it's odd for a guy that wants to push the ball downfield. Those type of QB's are going to have a higher variability in their percent completion average then the check-down Charlies. A couple of games will see them 50 - 55% followed by a couple in the 70% range.
  25. I couldn't help myself so I looked at 1989, a playoff year but also the year of the Bickering Bills! This was Kelly's 4th year in the NFL (6th year in the pros with the USFL) and followed 1988's AFC Championship game loss. And again, Jim Kelly is the greatest QB in Bills history and he's in the HOF - enough said: So here we go: Game 2: Denver 28 Bills 14. Kelly was 26/44 for 298 yards, 3 INT's and 1 TD pass. Game 5: Colts 37 Bill 14. Kelly was hurt in this game. But before his injury he was 20/32 for 216 yards, 3 INT's and 1 TD pass. Kelly came back after a few weeks and had some good games but then a bad late season slump: Game 13: Seattle 17 Bills 16. Kelly was 10/23 for 144 yards, 1 INT & 1 TD pass. Game 14: NO 22 Bills 19. Kelly was 17/35 for 211 yards, 3 INT's & 2 TD passes. Game 15: SF 21 Bills 10. Kelly was 26/42 for 265 yards, 3 INT's & no TD passes. And remember that 1991 AFC Championship game against he Denver Broncos as we were heading to our 2nd straight SB? You know the perfect weather day at Rich Stadium? The Bills won that game 10 - 7 without scoring an offensive TD. Kelly was 13/25 for for 117 yards, 2 INT's and no TD passes. After seeing this, and I haven't even looked at a fraction of the games played between 1988 - 1993, I'll worry about Allen if at the end of NEXT SEASON he's still playing just average.
