  1. I'm okay with giving each team a possession in OT. I just think that if it's still tied at the end of that possession practical issues come into play. An this means that there will have to be a point where to end the game some one will not be treated fairly. I don't see an alternative because if you make it a whole quarter the potential for some of these games going on for multiple extra quarters is very real.
  2. I disagree why should two great teams be penalized for being tied at the end of regulation? Would it have been fair if last night the Chiefs/Bills played two extra quarters? As it is Cncy has an extra day of rest & prep. You have to have some way to ensure the game ends quickly. That's why I like each team getting one possession and after that it's sudden death and the luck of the draw.
  3. This is an under appreciated part of Allen's game. Unlike Rogers who seems a bit selective in who he throws the ball to Allen will throw it to whoever is getting open. And if he senses an opponents weakness in covering a guy, even if it's more of a role player, Allen will mercilessly exploit it. Think about how just this last season Beasely, McKenzie and now Davis have had monster games because Allen kept going to them as they were beating the coverage. This shows a level of trust that would make any receiver want to play for the Bills and Allen.
  4. Cowherd made a great point on his show. If you change the OT in the playoffs you likely extend the OT and that isn't fair to the winner who then has to play a week later. More chances for injury and simply exhausting a team. As it is KC has a day less then Cincy to prepare. I would make a simple change: Each team gets one possession. Who ever has the most points after they each get the ball wins. If they're tied it goes to sudden death. For last nights game and assuming the Bills score a TD on their drive they could opt to go for 2 to win the game. It would have been compelling TV.
  5. Man as I recover from the shock and heartbreak of last nights loss it's like the future for the Bills is crystalizing right before my eyes. In today's NFL you go all in on offense when you have the best QB in the league. The fact is only 3 or 4 other teams in the league could make that work. KC has already gone there and they're on the cusp of heading to their 3rd straight SB. I pray that Bean sees it this way. And while I don't pretend to know squat compared to Bean & McD this seems so damn RIGHT. It's a no brainer. We should be drafting & signing studs for the offense and trying to fix the D with role players likes Sanders was on the O this year and Kroft was on the O the last 2 seasons. If Bean/McD try to do it any other way they will squander having an elite QB; a guy the franchise has been desperately trying to find for the last 25 years!
  6. Agreed. Or the Bills pay McKenzie and work a deal to keep Beasley at a lower cost in exchange for guaranteed money. But if I see Bean & McD letting offensive skill players leave and then replacing them with more D players I'm going to get real nervous that we are going to waste Josh Allen. IMO you focus on creating the best offense in the NFL around Allen. If you have minor holes to fill on the O you fill them BEFORE filling even bigger holes on D. If we try to ride Allen's jock with inferior offensive personnel in some vain attempt to recycle NE we will fail because this is not the same NFL that Belicheck dominated.
  7. Correct and in the off season Bean must do what KC did - go all in on Allen and surround him with the best possible talent. KC is not obsessing over not having the leagues best defense. They want to have the leagues best offense. NEVER again in a big game do you take the ball out of Allen's hand for even one possession. That the Bills did it last night on 3 possessions was a huge mistake. Scoring a TD on just one of those three possessions and last night ends differently. Score two TD's on those drives and the Bills win comfortably. Going forward you fix minor holes in the offenses before fixing bigger holes in the D. This might make McD uncomfortable but so what. If you want to win championships this is what you must do.
  8. Did anyone else notice on the video where Allen is walking to the tunnel after the game it was mostly Chiefs fans applauding him? It made the moment even more heartrending in some ways.
  9. You can call last nights loss a lot of things but "humiliating" is not one of them.
  10. Yep we went from last season where honesty the Chiefs mauled us in both game to this season where we won one game by 18 points and lost the 2nd in OT with BOTH games being played in KC. I would dd that this is consistent with the steady progress made by the whole team from 2018 to now. As dark as it seems now the future is bright.
  11. Again I'm seeing this as the current teams version of 1989 before the SB run. We are going from a dysfunctional mess of a franchise that went 18 years without making the playoffs and changed coaches like people change underwear to a team that makes the playoffs every year and is a legit Super Bowl contender. That process generally takes a couple of years. We are at the end of phase one and are about to take off. The Chiefs were lucky that they got their elite QB at a time when their franchise was already a playoff team and their head coach was at the top of his game. We should not compare ourselves to KC. It's apples & oranges. McD & Bean did a total tear down and rebuild in 2017/2018. The fact is that these past 2 seasons we've been on the cusp of going to the Super Bowl. Taking a long term perspective, losing to the current top dog in the AFC in OT in their stadium is a sign of the progress we've made. In fact I suspect that because it's taking us a couple of years to break completely through we will be at the top longer then the one year wonders that grab the prize then fade away. The Bills are building something that lasts. And yes I'm pulling for Cincy now - WHO DEY!
  12. I don't think there is anything I noted that isn't true or probable going into the future. The most important piece to have in the current NFL is an elite QB and we have that. I truly trust that they will figure out how to make it work.
  13. Oh and I forgot one more: * People are bemoaning the fact that we can't get by KC. But again look at the progress we made from last year to this year. Last season we went 0 - 2 against the Chiefs and were beaten easily 26 - 17 & 38 - 24 (games were not as close as the scores). This year we won the first game 38 - 20 and went down in OT 42 - 36 with BOTH games being played in KC. Seems like we've narrowed the gap to almost nothing.
  14. I truly believe we are on the edge of a prolonged run as a dominating NFL power with multiple Super Bowl wins over the next 5 - 6 years. And the fact that I got gut punched tonight doesn't change that reality. * We have the QB. Going into this season we needed Allen to do two things to remove any doubt: have another great season and step it up in the playoffs. He did BOTH. IMO he's the best QB in the NFL. We have our guy. * I also believe we have our coach & GM. Sure Frazier needs to move on to a new head coaching job and McD still has stuff to work on but when you think of the coaching carousal we were on for 20 years before McD, what he's accomplished with the Bills has been nothing short of outstanding. I am confident that McD will learn from his mistakes and continue to improve in his situational coaching. * We have a lot of key young players who are still on the ascending part of their career. These include: Brown, Knox, Allen, Singleterry, Davis, Edmunds, Oliver, Groot, Boogy, Harrison, Espinessa and others. We also have a fair number of players at their prime who will be very good for the next few years. * I don't think we'll need a big influx of talent to get to the next level. We are at the point where tweaking the roster could play huge benefits.
  15. Daboll needs to catch some heat for wasting 3 possessions with the bizarre decision to take the ball out of Allen's hands. But my goodness did Allen come to play in the playoffs. His improvement from his first playoff game to now has been exponential. There really are no more questions about Allen. He is IMO the best QB in the NFL now. Next season we put it together in both the regular season and playoffs.
  16. None but going to 4 straight Super Bowls was a tremendous feat. If we get to a couple in the next few years we are going to win one and probably more then one.
  17. And they were right - mostly. After 1989 the Bills went to 4 straight Super Bowls which was and still is an amazing accomplishment. And given how the league is different today in favoring the passing game and IMO Allen is a better QB then HOF Jim the Bills future looks very bright. Not sure how you can see it differently even after the gut punch of tonight's loss.
  18. Tough, tough loss. I hope Frazier gets a job I would love the 3rd round draft picks and frankly we need better coaching on defense. Wouldn't bother me to see Daboll gone to. Sure the Bills got 36 points and over 400 yards on offense but Daboll squandered THREE possessions with his bizarre decision to go heavy and run Singleterry taking the ball out of Allen's hands. And McD deserves criticism for not kicking the ball in the field of play to try to steal a few seconds at the end. I do believe this season was like our 1989 season and the future is very bright for this team. IMO we have the best QB in the NFL. Allen's rise in the playoffs was the last thing we needed to see from him. TWO game winning drives in the last couple of minutes is more then you can ask any QB to do. Allen is the real deal and he will lead this team to multiple Super Bowl wins.
  19. They were on the field a ton because they could never stop KC on 3rd down.
  20. The football IQ in this game has just dropped by 100 points in the last half hour.
  21. Part of me is laughing that Brady got that penalty but man this is a divisional playoff game. Hockelee needs to get a thicker skin. This game isn't about the refs. What the hell.
  22. I can't believe LA passed on the chance to take the ball at the one and go for two!
  23. The CAP is about to explode which will dampen the impact of Allen's contract. Throw in the built in ability to adjust Allen's contract to free up money when needed and we're going to appreciate the genius of Bean's work here. The CAP is about to explode and that will mitigate Allen's contract big time. Both Apple & Amazon have stated publicly that their number one priority is to significantly expand their live sports offerings and that means the NFL. The bidding wars for NFL content in the coming years is going to be brutal and the cash will be flowing into league coffers.
  24. Next year or the year after or at any time that Allen is QB, McD is coach and Bean is GM. Win or lose today this team can and will get better over the next few years. IMO these two seasons are 1988/1989 all over again and the best is still ahead of us.
