  1. Sat next to him by chance and chatted him up a 5-6 years ago at the Redskins annual "Kickoff Luncheon" here in the DC area. Really nice, respectful kid; was a rookie sweating out just making the team in spite of a hamstring injury. Well spoken, Duke grad and it showed. Humble. Really liked him. I can see why he has succeeded. Will be a good process guy. Not a Diva like Beas, and has some quicks and skills. McBeanes still just absolutely killing it. Trust the Process, Go Bills.
  2. I am totally good with this now. The rest of the AFC has triggered this arms race. Beane has decided to run the race right there with the other teams. Go Bills. Go get the trophy.
  3. yep, he left and never looked back. got paid, got a ring. forget about him and his overpriced contract. Time for LA to enter salary cap hell. Hope they enjoy their rings, won't be getting any more anytime soon.
  4. unless the cap expands a heck of a lot in the next few years, this whole thing may fall apart in 2-3 years.. McD will get fired, all the schemes will change, the dead cap hits will explode, and we'll be right back where we started from during the drought. Is spending our way back to drought-land worth winning a SB, which itself is more crap shoot (see Bengals this year) than ever. Is it? What if they can't stay healthy during the VonMiller "shinyobjectoverspend" era? Then its 2025, all the talent gets cut to get down to the cap, etc, etc. Drought city. they had a roster capable of winning it last year, one ST coach shat the bed at crunch time to screw that up. why all of a sudden change course and wreck the cap chasing older shiny objects? Have they suddenly lost the faith in the process that got them to the brink of the trophy? What happened to "doing your 1/11th". Team defense. Team culture. Hell, lets go sign freakin Jarvis Landry, who makes Star's selfishness look like child's play. Lets blow it all up to get one trophy that will collect dust for rest of Josh's career. so much for "trusting the process" ... the process just got tossed out the window. not sure I am good with this. We shall see.
  5. yeah unless the cap expands a heck of a lot in the next few years, this whole thing will fall apart in a couple years.. McD will get fired, all the schemes will change, the dead cap hits will explode, and we'll be right back where we started from during the drought. not sure its worth winning one SB so much for "trusting the process" ... the process just got tossed out the window
  6. yes. the KC game is on him. failing to get the message to the kicker to short kick it was inexcusable . crap like that happens again and things will heat up fast
  7. I do not know the exact timing of by when a team needs to be under the cap (weekly? Monthly? Constantly?) , but it makes sense that once you sign a contract which puts you over the cap, you have a certain amount of time to get back under it?
  8. I am so not disappointed with this team and staff; still pinching myself that this current run is even happening go bills
  9. we need a ST coach who can transmit 3 words to one player, that's about all this team needs (or needed)
  10. I'm thinking Carolina; with his Clemson roots, he'd be a fit for the fan base there and would sell tickets like crazy. Fans there are very loyal to the college guys who play in that area. Dolphins in second slot. Seattle has the draft picks to offer for sure, tho.
  11. ya think?! When is the media going to call Bass and find out what happened?
  12. it was good enough this year, Bills hoist the trophy assuming a certain ST coach doesn't sh't the bed with 13 seconds left. the roster is there if the coaches would just do their job correctly under pressure. Don't go into cap hell bc a coach screwed up.
  13. $140m contract. $18m Cap hit annually. No way Bills can go anywhere near that thing. Think before you post people.
  14. so who gets cut to pay for him
  15. Gronk will be too expensive. Knox is the man. There will be other options to back up Knox that are far less expensive.
  16. Agree. Trust the Process of simply improving your overall roster year after year, mainly via the draft. Especially with a 40m cap hit from one guy. They had the SB this year, the ST coach pooped the bed at a critical moment in a single elimination tournament game. The SB roster is there now.
  17. hard to argue with Steeler fan loyalty the way they show up at away games... amazing the in stadium experience seems to have gone downhill over the years. slobbering drunks standing the entire game ranting and raving is not exactly worth a couple hundred bucks per seat (unless you are one of the slobbering drunks)... looks like Heinz fields needs to find 5 or 10k more slobbering drunks to stand and curse for their stadium... shouldn't be that hard. one out of their mind standing-the-whole game drunk can wipe out the game for half a section behind them, driving the need for more slobbering drunks, maybe thats the problem -- one slobbering stand-the-whole-game drunk loses you 10 season ticket holders sitting behind him.. hmmm
  18. don't care, still just wallowing in the wonderful fact the Bills aren't picking 11th for the 9th consecutive year. this good feeling won't wear off for a while offseason is slow
  19. can we get a rule allowing helmet communication with f ing placekicker? how bout that?
  20. if Bills pay a backup any more than they paid MT last year, they are foolish. If JA goes down, we're f'd no matter who the backup is. thats life in the NFL
  21. I don't think QBs under 6 ft can really get a team to the promised land in today's (or yesterday's) NFL. They are crazy to pay him IMO. Just not a believer in little squirt QBs at the NFL level. They had it with Carson Palmer and just didn't get it done.
  22. Oops, off by a year there-was more focused what the long term contract extension offer would be. That’s the moment of truth and the real issue
  23. yep, we are 'violently agreeing'... if Beane can trade him for good value now and they feel good enough about Dodson, then yep get value for him now. he likely leaves in FA anyway as a team will top what Beane is willing to pay for him. they got 4 years of decent play from him in this particular defensive scheme; he ain't no Thomas Davis or Luke Keuchly, so just plug another 1/11th in there and spend your cap passing and defending the pass. yep. which is pretty much where Nolan comes out .
  24. agree. Edmunds is, as Nolan points out in the podcast "Fine" in his role, but he is not essential. so don't pick up his 5th year option (saves $10m+ cap space at least), offer him Milano $$ (hey Milano took it, much to our surprise -- this primarily pass defense scheme prolongs a LB's career, IMO) , play it out and be ready to plug Dodson or a FA in there if Edmunds walks. Edmunds position is not designed to be the centerpiece of this particular defensive scheme anyway (Keuchly was a unicorn). Edmunds agent will stump for Leonard $$, but LBs in the Bills defensive scheme just play their part of the field; not asked to dominate so they get 1/11th type $$; which means their agents probably get guys like Edmunds and Wallace overpaid by some other team to play a dominator role they probably cannot handle. and Beane moves on with well scouted, productive, low cost draft choices and FAs doing just their 1/11th. which works. not as much fun for fans looking for splash plays to make the beers go down better, but whatever, it works. and lasts.
  25. yeah, agree. not stumping for either of them; just offer Edmunds a contract commensurate with his 1/11th role on the defense and leave it at that. If someone offers him Leonard $$ to play the Darius Leonard "superman" dominator run/pass MLB role (which he probably cannot do) then let him take the $$ . Just like Levi Wallace. Wallace and Edmunds are just pieces in a scheme, not asked to be dominant (just do your job). Star, as you say, is a tough one as releasing him will hit the cap hard... McBeanes gotta think on that one... is Star playing only 9 games per season better than taking a $20m (not sure of the #, its pretty big ) cap hit this year.
