Shakir is a liability out there now, no real cut and push from the slot off that ankle and that is his game and how he separated. Need to lean into Samuel more for that role tonight. Brady abandoning the run so quickly was surprising got to keep working those in there maybe with some Davis. Need to string together some 1st downs as this D is getting rolled and needs to get that blow on the sidelines. Some bizarre leave the middle open rushes that have left 15 yards of green for Lamar. Babich and Brady need to step up their game. -

Torrence has been a weak link this year and Brown gave up the outside edge. They did not bring their A-game for sure, but going strictly pass at this point is just going to have the Ravens pinning their ears back. Too early for that and Brady should know that. Need to sprinkle in enough runs to slow that rush down. -
Week 4 - Bills at Ravens Game Week Thread

Truth. For my wife who does not understand the game at all she treats every game like an excuse for heading to our local Bills Backer bar for a social event. Even asks at the end if we won or lost... no clue. But we both work and all these prime time games kind of mess that schedule up that we older fans need for recovery from socializing. We have spent a bit more time watching from home during the Allen era. The price I gladly pay for my Bills being relevant again. -

I know... lazy media just grabbing the only story they know coming out of Buffalo. Maybe a good thing to keep that focus off the SB pressures for this club. It is like that narrative of all the players we parted with in the offseaon when most spent their time on IR and were not a big part of the success we were having prior. Good luck to them but the team needed to move on with players that could see the field more (you hope). -

Wish the media had something else they could focus on. If I were Diggs and Allen I would be tired of this forced narrative too. Did Diggs want out? Probably, and what is the big deal if he did? He probably saw the direction the offense was heading - away from featuring boundry receiver play and being as proud and competitive as he is he wanted out. We all know there are players that want the ball, or the puck, whatever and the game is not too big for them. And there are times you need someone like that as part of your team formula. We all know there were plenty of games where Diggs was the only receiver answering the bell. Players move on and there are too many folk out there who act like that wierd stalking Ex that need a restraining order. I will agree with Eisen that the offense is playing more free and with more balance, but I think that is just a continuation of what Brady started last season. -

I am not going to say their run defense is overrated, but I will say largely untested by good running teams which the Bills are. Brady will not abandon the run and don't be shocked if we rip off a few, but the Ravens do give up a lot of passing yards and it would be foolish not to lean into our passing game more. So I expect Brady to run enough to keep their pass rush in check, but I expect we will probably skew towards the pass. If we do get up on them a few scores I could see us slowing things down and grinding out 1st downs to give our D time to recover. Baltimore's OC makes you defend a lot of sideline to sideline stuff. -

This is a tough matchup for us with just what they do well and what defenses Babich has rolled with to date and the kind of personnel we have. Baltimore could easily be that patient team that can work you with the runs and behind the sticks in the shallow zones to drag a game out and keep it close, but we could cede yards and have success if we can tighten up in the red zone and just keep them out of the EZ limiting them to FGs. I like Allen's chances better against their D, and if they cannot match score for score we could potentiallly get this game out of reach for them, but I think they drag it out to limit his possessions and I don't see them abandoning their run game. I am more curious than nervous as I think we match up well vs most teams we would face, but this is an outlier. The Titans with Henry used to give us problems and now sprinkle in a dual-threat option QB. -
No one is talking about... Javon Solomon

Just a football player. He is going to be a fun X-factor for Babich dialing up pressures. Really good at getting off blocks and exploiting the smallest seams with an explosive burst to close on the ball. -
Bills rank 9th in poll of top front offices in the NFL (article)
WideNine replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall
Awesome? We are 9th....😁 Honestly think the Stillers deserve flowers for how competitive they are year over year. A solid HC. I don't like them, but can respect how they turn over rosters and never quite slip to that basement level team you can just assign an "L" to before they play. -
Computer Analysis says Ravens Win- How Accurate are These Things?

I thought locker room wall stuff fired you up because it was something opposing teams or players said about you. Not sure how fired up you can get if a computer decides you suck. -

For swing tackle they have Van Demark who has flashed at LT and gotten better at RT. I was a bit surprised that Grable beat him out on the depth chart, but perhaps he edged him out in run blocking as that is such a feature for this offense now. -

Getting up on teams masks a lot of deficiencies in run D. Dallas last year was this ferocious pressure defense until the Bills unmasked them for what they were... a team that simply cannot stop the run and we never let them get up on us so kept pounding it at them with a lot of success. I think this will be a tough test for the Bills. If we can get up on them early it could flip the script, but prepared for a more back and forth nail-biter. -
Week 4 - Bills at Ravens Game Week Thread

We have a solid front DL, but they present challenges with their read option with Henry. If he gets past that first level he has the size to run over our back 7. I think they will move the chains better than other teams we have faced for no other reason than many teams may decide the best defense is just keeping Allen off the field. I expect this to be a drug-out slug fest and tight down to the wire simply because of the Ravens wanting to dominate TOP. We will see. -
Of course, Mahomes is pretty effective throwing off platform with odd arm angles and he is not a "strider" to quote Cossel. When Cossel was talking about the Jag's Lawrence he said one thing he thought worked against him is that he takes long strides when moving around and setting up his base to throw. Mahomes (and Allen) move around the pocket, escape pressure with shorter "choppy" steps where they can stay under control and quickly reset to make a throw. Never thought much about it till I was watching Lawrence last night and he did have a bit of a giraffe quality to the way he moved around.
-
Yeah - I really liked that as one more thing Allen could add to his impressive arsenal of moves is being able to exploit coverage while moving to his left. Everyone knows he can be lethal extending plays to his right, but that movement to the left is a lot more unnatural for a right-handed QB and stresses the throwing motion, but it is something that I think Mahomes does a good job with. Mahomes can roll out to that left side, pump-fake to create space, reset, and throw with pretty good accuracy. Strange how mobile and slippery that dude is with that bizarre waddle he has when jogging around the field. But last night I did not see Allen reset his base for that throw, he just tossed it in stride and the accuracy on that little wrist toss was unreal. It was a thing of beauty hitting Johnson.
-
I had doubts with Spencer Brown and he was an area of concern for me going into the season. So much inconsistency last year and regression especially in pass pro. I thought that was understandable with the back issues and time missed, but I was not sure what we would see this year. I will gladly eat crow. The big man is playing at a high level.
-
A clinic. Flowers to the OL. Allen is seeing the field very well, reading coverages and he is just surgically taking apart defenses. More so than under any other OC, Allen seems to know where his answers are in structure. He is also picking great spots for calling his own number and when he needs to extend plays and get creative. Everyone does their job and everyone eats. Defense did a good job, but they honestly should when our offense gets up on a team like that. They did a solid job up front against the run and we have some very good corners. Ravens and Henry will pose a different set of challenges.

I dunno. You try those deep shots to take advantage of teams playing man deep, but they are usually not a high percentage play... fun to watch though. I think teams already play a lot of man vs us and will continue to do what they have been doing and take the risk of keeping at least one of their safeties in the box for run support and such and playing man on one side of the field. That leaves MVS with his speed and Coleman with his compete at the catch point as your go-to guys for those shots. Some of those will pan out, but I don't see that forcing teams out of that coverage. The way teams are playing us should open the middle and space for our pass catching RBs, not to mention mesh concepts that will be effective against those crowded boxes when they are trying to match up down low.

We need better defensive coaching vs the Chiefs for sure, and Cincy dismantled Frazier's defense. We need more guys healthy on that side of the line too...ridiculous how many key starters we lose down the stretch. We will see how Babich grows into the role and if he can produce better results down the stretch.
-
Meh. Much rather have our crop of current matchup LBs that create a slew more negative plays and turnovers. Glad we did not get saddled with that contract.

So what is 20,000,000 divided by 1? 😁
-
There are a lot of talented QBs in the league now, but none with Allen's freakish athleticsm for his size. I think we have all gotten a bit used to him making those things look pedestrian.

The patented make the free rusher miss, roll to the right, and buy time for the scramble drill and put it on the receiver... usually along the sideline. There are things that only Josh can do, but Stoud looks like a good one.
