  1. Props to Diggs blocking on Allen TD. Even if Allen would likely power through that defender. Selfless and effort.
  2. Don't think that will be as much of an issue. Bean shored up our DT quality and depth and we now have the guys that can take on the doubles and not get blown off the line to keep a backer clean to fill. I think we will be ok, even Edmunds played better when they had better DTs in front of him... although his instincts were still underwhelming.
  3. The book on Kincaid was that he was barely adequate as a blocker. Kromer and Boras worked together a lot on our Jumbo sets last season with Hart as that extra blocker on the end, but I can easily see those two coaching up Kincaid's blocking. Fingers-crossed the kid stays healthy as he looks like a keeper.
  4. Yup. And his distribution of the ball to different receivers last week really drove home how he was getting the whole offense and all its weapons involved. I would like to see some concepts in the red zone that force defenses to defend sideline-to-sideline and have to respect that lonely backside flat instead of being able to cheat to the right like they do. Motions and misdirection to that backside with jet sweeps, wheel routes, WR screens (read if they play press or off), toss sweeps, RB screens, reverses... running those and then just showing those looks would open the field up more for Allen to be even more successful when he is creative. Of course, we have RBs now that can also pound the rock down there too so this offense has a lot more options they can tap into to put defenses into conflict that Dorsey can start to work into their playbook. I thought that was one thing Daboll excelled at, creativity in the red zone to keep defenses off balance. The way teams play our WRs in the flat makes for good motivation to bone-up on how teams beat Cover-2 and 4 Robber concepts because you see those route combinations show up in much of what Dorsey schemes up for those on-schedule looks for Allen.
  5. In the red zone you can really see how teams are trying to take away the right side of the field anticipating his sideline scramble. There are backside throws to the flat each time. Dorsey needs to scheme up some plays to take advantage of how teams are playing Allen's tendencies down there. If Allen can mainly play within the offensive game plan and take what defenses are giving, I think in most cases we will be leading teams down the stretch. We have a lot of play makers who have RAC ability and if defenses are going to bail out of the flat then those become easy chunk plays for us. Allen being Allen when things break down is different in my mind from Allen being Allen dismissing open options underneath and being reckless. More patience and throwing on schedule quickly will lead to more team wins and that approach will lead to less frequent turnovers.
  6. My only care is just the numbers and justifying it was a solid cap move for the team. Folks always want to overpay for names, pro bowls, etc... Me, I find it interesting to compare what you get performance-wise for a top paid MLB vs a player on their rookie deals.
  7. 43 less snaps for Bernard as apparently Chicago's defense can't get off the field and here is the comparison to date. Tremaine Solo-15 Ast-8 Int-0 PD-0 Fum-0 TFL-2 131 Snap Count Bernard Solo-7 Ast-10 Int-1 PD-1 Fum-0 TFL-0 88 Snap Count
  8. Yeah, I don't think I would mind one bit if Cheatah the woman Beatah got a flat and was out for the season. I know, you are never supposed to wish for injuries and yada yada ... just don't like the dude.
  9. National Weather Service saying the same - the worst stuff on Saturday then for Sunday hopefully most of the rain passing through in the morning. "Showers, mainly before 8am. High near 67. East wind around 11 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible."
  10. Unfortunate to hear the Kirksey news... liked having that veteran backup option for Bernard if he gets dinged and I felt like he was going to be an upgrade over Klein with MLB coverage assignments. The Bills need to focus on this opponent - could easily be a trap game if their attention drifts to Miami next week. Our defense has been gashed early in games with screens and some reverse sweeps... seems to be a combination of being a bit overly aggressive getting up field and some dumb inside moves by our DEs losing contain on the edges (Epenesa last week). Looking for some more discipline early from that unit to play sound and pitch an early shutout. Hoping we are able to pad an early lead on them and then you can release the dogs so they can feed. Also, fingers-crossed that Dorsey has a solid game plan and Allen plays within it but still does the Allen things needed when the play design breaks down. Expect more play-action and runs to slow down the rush and help the offense get into a rhythm. Would like to see Kincaid continue to evolve as a receiver and build on the success he had last week.
  11. It's OK to say it. He had a bad game and fell back into some bad habits that we've seen before and so has Allen for that matter - going by his post game presser. He just has to stack up these wins and adjust to how most defenses are going to play us. We have a lot of playmakers that can take the shorter stuff and generate chunk RAC results that will keep the chains moving and the defense fresh. They will have to get creative with Diggs to keep him involved so he is not just running routes into double coverage. Josh is not the only impatient player on the roster.
  12. A knee-jerk organization. There is a correlation of more success when you have front office stability. What it must be like to be a Browns fan those poor bastards... reminds us to appreciate our team.
  13. Always a classic = that's "old school". Even used the proper fist striking motions.
  14. One would almost think the Jets built their defense to stop the best team in their division hmm... They were pretty strategic on the defensive side building their roster, but a patient quick-passing game will beat them, and their QB who is not 40 years old and out with a bum Achilles, is not immune to turning the ball over. Dallas gave teams the blue print for dissecting their defense and blowing up their offense.
  15. Knew they gave Brown some help, but great to see how well they game planned and how the players executed those chips and funneling blocks to Brown. Very encouraging all around. Kincaid looks great, but I keep tempering my enthusiasm for the rookie so I don't jinx him.
  16. In the past leaving that decision to the concussed player to signal that he needed to come off the field, or a biased team staff was fundamentally dumb. The NFL took a lot of heat last season for how Miami handled Tua and for good reason. They have taken some steps in the right direction.
  17. Diggs looked good on his wide receiver screen. Harty on those has not found much daylight. The way defenses are jumping that perhaps they should modify that to a pump fake and wheel route. But I am with you in that I expected more short area quick twitch capabilities to make guys miss.
  18. Oddly enough it feels more comfortably familiar to not have that spotlight on our team like it was last year with all the off-season hype and expectations. It would be too much to hope that opposing coaches sleep on the Bills too, but highly doubtful. Was a great game yet I came away thinking this team has not yet hit it's stride and what that could look like...
  19. Moot point as we choked in the later divisional rounds. These arbitrary "trends" get debated all the time. I seem to recall a streak of close games we lost and folks were all saying they can't win the close games. That was disproved last year. Now it is that the team cannot win in OT... it is an odd streak, but I don't think it is definitive because they are so infrequent, but that narrative will be there till they have an OT they win.
  20. Ain't like they have not seen them before, even before Hill was a Dolphin. Allen plays them pretty strong each year and if it wasn't for half the team dropping from heat stroke we would not have dropped that game on Miami. The run and Mostart running over our defense is what I remember last time we met, but I like out DL rotation and DTs better this year vs the run. We will see if they are ready to kick us off the AFC East hill.
  21. This is what the Patriots do...just hang around till they have a chance to win. But NE's OL is making Van Ginkle look like Bosa.
  22. ....and Mac gets another short field to do nothing. I really don't like the idea of Miami going 2 and 0, but I hate the Patriots too and cannot root for them. If only they could both lose.
  23. Jones lofting soft balls into coverage. Love that he is NE's QB.
  24. It was clear he was thinking, "Idiots, making me get this thing out of my sock..."
