  1. That is why you don't just look at picks, you look at the situations. This season I have been more concerned with his decisions than numbers. Turn downs of open receivers and decisions throwing into well covered areas, or locking onto receivers like Harty who has done nothing to earn his reps and checks and not progressing to another option. Allen launching it on 3rd and forever flipping the field like a punt, or a hail Mary at the end of the half - meh.
  2. They were able to get Breece free underneath with Taron out... Could have been a factor as he tends to sniff out those dumps and inside slants.
  3. Truth - and you run the risk of hurting yourself with your head position and your own players because you are not tackling with any vision - just launching yourself. Something you coach at the pop warner level. Still, hope the dude is OK.
  4. We are leading, in control of this game, and not turning the ball over and you have fans complaining about "style points" That DB pickup from GB is looking good and we will be in good shape when some more of our DBs get healthy.
  5. Rogers rehabbing in CA.
  6. Not sure what it will mean to the score board, but the Bills offensive players look more "alive" on the sideline. For whatever that is worth, it seems to be a positive change.
  7. So many folks that don't get that you go for the points that put you up two scores rather than run into the teeth of a very good defense for 3 yards and come up with nada. Thank god that fans don't call plays.
  8. Would rather see more Shakir
  9. Jets have that luxury of being able to push our pocket and create pressure with just that front 4.
  10. I would say we just need to come away with points and not to turn it over, but I would take a TD too. When we maintain possession our defense gets time to rest up and come out firing - rather than trotting back out with a short field due to turnovers.
  11. Some players have that "it" feel. I watch Kincaid and it is like I am watching a pro that has been doing it at the NFL level for a while.
  12. Don't remind me of that... Was at that game learning the "Skoal Vikings song"
  13. Davis just can't separate in the short area vs decent DBs Still like to see more Shakir than Harty who has done a lot of nothing this season...
  14. This is a tough defense folks - we have to be patient even though that is a tall ASK of fans who have seen a lot of crappy execution. Diggs has had a case of the drops today... need him to be Diggs the sure-handed.
  15. Finally a 3rd and long... and McD goes with an effective zone rushing four against a poor QB with limited receiving options - no need to send the house every time and give up the big gainer. And I like blitzing and zone blitzing to confuse protections, but be smart with it.
  16. Phillips is such an "lovable" idiot, but an idiot with that penalty.
  17. If folks thought that a guy who made his living running spread offenses was going to use his RBs a lot they may leave dissappointed. Would have been a great spot to bring Murray into the personnel packages just to get the Jets to cheat more guys into the box, at least threaten run. I did like that they tried to get the Jets to cover sideline to sideline, but Allens touch on hitting guys in stride on the swings and wheels leaves a lot to be desired, but maybe 14 could have snagged that... have to see it again.
  18. Can't believe how hard it was for a Miami team to put away a Raider team that had a noodle-armed QB and one legit receiver. Have seen some real pathetic offensive performances across the league. I have to agree with folks that the Bills have the roster to have a lot more success than they have had - the coaching has got to improve and that also means getting the players ready to perform, fired up, and correcting execution mistakes.
  19. On a more positive note the plays have been there to be made all over the field during this crappy run. Guys have been schemed open or beaten coverage, but the ball has not gotten there or has been dropped/fumbled whatever. But the plays have been there and our players have the skills to get open and make plays - they just have not been executing and finishing. The runs have been there for most of the year too. On defense I have lost count of how many almost INTs we have been in position to make or fumbles that have taken lucky bounces for the opposing team. Those turnovers have been there too, so we just need some of those bounces to go our way.
  20. I have not seen enough of Ford to even tell - not sure what his snap count has been, but I think pretty low. I would rather see Ford in those 4T and 3T spots than the bizaar rotatiobns I have seen with some of our ends playing the middle where they are out of their weight class. I can see Groot there because he has such a good strong anchor, balance, long arms and heavy hands, and played inside sitations in college, but I think I saw them rotate Von into middle a few times last week when he is clearly not there and getting swatted aside on the edges. 3D chess?
  21. McDermott has to do better in high-leverage situations and be a calming hand on the rudder not part of the problem. He often overthinks or gets out-coached in those situations because he does something unneeded. Down and distance situations and what works best defending the points does not change late in the game other than the opposing team will take more risks and that is why games (for other teams holding a lead) so often end with them icing it with a turnover. Just play sound defense and ST when you have the lead.
  22. Probably right up there with the chance that our first offensive possession is a Josh INT or someone fumbling, Bass-o-matic missing, and Martin shanking punts. This whole damn team just needs to get back to executing their jobs and doing their 1/11th.
  23. Probably not enough sample size, but Kromer has had more time to implement his blocking schemes and we picked up Torrence so there were some changes made by the Bills to improve the run game. They also have moved away from trying to use so much outside zone (stretch) running plays that was less of a fit for the kind of runners we had and we did not execute those well with our O-line. We now use a lot more power/gap and inside zone runs that we tend to execute better. Of course there are philosophy changes from coach to coach when it comes to how much, when, and how you run the ball. It always baffled me the amount of draft capital Beane and McD put into finding a good RB and how the running game was usually not a feature that the Daboll offense leaned into. It was mainly just something to keep defenses more honest and to prevent them from pinning their ears back and rushing Allen, or just going light boxes and strictly playing the pass. Cook was on fire last game after the benching till Dorsey found a way to forget about him. OCs, have to have a feel for what is working and keep going to that well till a defense stops it - then figure out what they gave up to do that.
  24. A few thoughts about the offense - just execute better. The plays have been there to be made. Motion Diggs a lot and see if they can get him off Sauce. Get Shakir and Cook more involved in the passing attack over Davis as we need to be able to hit passes in the flats at the boundaries to get this defense moving sideline to sideline and that needs guys that can get in and out of their breaks quickly and have some RAC ability. Work in a few runs for Allen towards the boundaries. QB draws vs that interior and LBs could be more risky. Get Murray going with those pin pull runs between the tackles. On defense dial back the blitzing if they are not getting home or if you have a better chance using zone against their limited receiver corps. Their QB holds the ball for a long time any ways so focus on stopping the run and getting them in long down and distance situations and play zone rolling help on their best receiving options. I love blitzing, but you have to apply it in the right situations and it has to be getting home. Fundamentals- just tackle better and be more disciplined with rush lanes.
  25. This is my question too, but mentally I have been leaning towards first how does he get the offense better prepared to limit the mistakes? A lot of analysis this year pointing to mental lapses by our WRs. Have wondered how the loss of Chad Hall would affect that unit and why Hall left the organization for what amounted to a lateral coaching move with the Jaguars? Xs & Os: That perhaps leads to think about what types of plays do the Bills execute well on Offense? Of those which have a chance for some success against the defensive looks the Jets tend to counter with?
