I'm tempted to think Belichick has thrown in the towel on the season and is smartly low-key tanking. Something about his tone in recent conferences and his lack of grouch that would normally be there. Then you throw in the Edelman IR, Gilmore trade, etc.

We'll know the answer tomorrow, I think.

Usually teams play 3 games in 15 days so it's not that big of a difference.

I said this in another thread I too think BB is just kind of going through the season with covid and Brady leaving if you were going to have a bad year why not this one. He’s got his eyes on next year I really thought that before the season even kicked off.

I actually dont think our main weakness is stopping the run. When we gameplan to stop it we do. We held Derrick Henry to 57 yards, 3 YPA which is his lowest of the season. The Chiefs ran all over us but 1) their the Chiefs and 2) McD literally said that was the plan.

I think our biggest weakness is QB contain and the secondary which impacts the run game.

Your right on the KC game as much as I hated seeing us get ran on like that if our offense would of been playing like they have been we could of won that game. Allen has to start playing better in big games

I had a quick look for something that explains the role of a free safety.  Not sure it's the best, found this:

    https://postemaperformance.com/free-safety-position-football/

    Run-stopping

While they don’t have as physical of a role in the running game as strong safeties, run support is very important. As they usually are lined up in a deep part of the field, they have to find the ball carrier, pursue at the right angle, and make a solid tackle. For the majority of the game, they are lined up deep, which means they are the last line of defense. If a free safety is making too many tackles in the running game, that likely means that the defenders in front of them are losing their individual battle. The safety should be exactly that, a safety net that you hopefully won’t need but is there if they have to prevent a big play.

Note the point that the job of the free safety as a last line of defense, focuses on his ability to take at the right angle and make a solid tackle and to pursue the play if needed.  A free safety who "brings the wood"  too hard may tend to miss altogether, which is the very thing a good free safety is NEVER to do.  I mean, sure, it would be great to have Ed Reed or Eric Berry, but those guys were both drafted in the 1st round for a reason, and stayed on the teams that drafted them pretty much all career for a reason too.

    👍🏼

Hyde is a leader both on the field and in the locker room, and if we have learned anything from McD he is willing to keep and continue to pay his leaders (looking at you Lee Smith). I personally would be shocked if we moved on from him.

I agree but I would love to add someone that can bring the wood in run support

The Bills barely had the ball so they kind of had this false sense of "we gotta make something happen". I mean Thurman was the MVP in that game...the only reason he didn't get it is because the writers legit didn't know you could vote for a losing player.

Who would want a mvp after losing a super bowl. And we clearly got out coach in that game with a back up QB. Maybe Allen can get us one ol jimbo just two many picks

Is there a reason the pats would trade their best defensive player? I don't get it. Surely they are not ready to tank and give up on the season.

BB knew this year would be so different with covid and no Brady and his smart enough to know they didn’t have a super bowl team. He will coach hard and say all the right things but he already had this year as a wash hence not trying to get a better qb and just taking cam last minute he will get his qb next year and start building again. This year didn’t catch him off guard. But by saying all that let’s stump them in the dirt GO BILLS

The calendar age aspect is more from a physical standpoint than mental standpoint. If your talking who you keep that plays into it in that you could expect a longer lifespan out of Edmunds. No guarantees. I would no give Edmunds the 2nd contract if come contract time he still makes the mistakes he is making, those need to be righted.

I just see Milano as a solid good LB. You keep him if you can but dont over pay.

Edmunds has the potential to be a superstar. Clearly not there yet though.

I thought you could only use the word potential in the first year or even 2 but now in the 3 year I just don’t no

Sean took over a team that hadn't won anything in 17 years.  January 2000 was our last play-off appearance!  We all lived through it and it was UGLY.  Many players and coaches couldn't make the Bills a winner despite tremendous fan support.

Now I see posts about "winning signature games" or if we lose to the Patriots it's a disaster.  Crazy and stupid!  It's the NFL in 2020 and most teams have a very good QB and can win against any opponent.

IMO Chuck Knox was the best coach in Bills history.  He took a losing franchise to respectability and back-to-back play-off seasons.  He assembled rookies and veterans to build a strong team.  IF he got his indoor practice facility, an aggressive GM and a upgraded contract he might have stayed around.

Marv Levy was an ORGANIZER!  Not a great head coach.  He had the best team in the NFL talent wise.  He refused to make 'adjustments' during a game and felt the best way to win was to let the players do it.  Four Super Bowl losses should fall on him.  No game planning and no adjustments. Kelly could only do so much but didn't coach the defense and a lot of his success was due to ad-lib plays and Thurman Thomas.

I respect Sean and the 'process'.  It's working and Buffalo has a good, NFL competitive on the field each week.   GO BILLS!

Man I’m glad someone said that about marv. I always thought the same thing but was scared to get roasted on here if you say anything about kelly or any of the 90’ bills. But my thing on marv was we should of never lost that super bowl against the Gmen. If marv would of sucked it up and just ran Thurman we would of won that game.

I think our fanbase would do themselves a lot of good by watching other football teams. All teams have problems during games, during the season etc. Blow outs arent the norm in the NFL, over 70 percent of games are decided by 3 or less points.

Yes this team has struggled at times, and in certain areas. Its a fact of life in the NFL. Ill take the wins and be happy, and knowing McD and Co. are trying to improve every week.

Right it’s not like other teams aren’t trying to win the super bowl too. What happened to us bills fans is 20 years of suck man that is along time and we just want to win so bad.

I hate to call this a "statement" game but that's what I think it is next Sunday.  The Bills look to be the superior team although they haven't played up to their potential for the past 3 weeks.  Chalk it up to a lot of issues, interruptions in the schedule, injuries, and such.  Maybe the defense pulled out of their funk in the second half yesterday?  And the offense needs to finish drives with TD's and not shoot themselves in the foot with penalties, some questionable play calls, and poor execution.  But this is a game they should win against the Patriots.

We know what NE is likely to do here.  On offense focus on a running game with Newton and the RB's mixing in some short passing while running some clock.  And on defense bringing pressure, a spy on Allen, and scheming to take away the over the top passes while making Josh take short and check down throws.  The big thing is absolutely none of this should be a surprise or a secret.  Much of it they've done for years against the Bills with great success.  But this time the team has much more talent on offense than in the past.  So there is absolutely no excuse for the coaching staff on both sides of the ball to not have a decent game plan ready to counter these strategies and the team ready to execute it.

You are right this is a statement game a team has owned us for 20 years I wouldn’t care if they were 1-6 any time for the next 20 we should try to kill the pats. We owe them big time kick them while there down who cares they poured it on us.

I noticed that. On a third down stop in the second half they just walked off the field. Nobody fired up. No celebration. Just business as usual in a two point game.
I want my defense to be jumping, clapping, yelling, do something. Show some emotion. It’s ok

i think that’s where the fans are missed honestly

I think the fans are a huge lost on defense this year

Toss up game.  Seattle is not a joke.  That’s silly.  Wilson is on lace for MVP.  Their defense is horrible.  It’s going to be 27-24 someone as I’m not willing to predict this one.  It’s way too close and Arizona is better than many think as they are out west.

Should be fun until I fall asleep.  It’s what happens when you get to late 40’s and you get up at 5 am everyday.

Some on this board are funny lol Russ is one of the best qb in the nfl
