Coleman's highs look pretty darn good. And I really think it's what he does on punt returns more than anything that convinces me to that the skepticism of his athleticism and potential is overblown.
I think Coleman was a fine player in college and at times looked dominant but with him the concern I have is his lack of separation against man coverage. Those windows get smaller and tougher to routinely make in the pros as much as he did last year.
He was a stud and game changer, I can’t deny that.
Our problem last year was against man coverage. The receivers couldn’t do much, now while that was Keon’s game last year; producing in that scenario, it’s not something I want to hang my hat on and hope the guy we draft to be the #2 or heir apparent to our current #1 can replicate year in, year out.

I don’t think it is loaded a S. Who do you like there that you don’t have to take in the 1st or 2nd? Looks like a bunch of box safeties mostly after the first few.
Boy, I haven’t studied any film on the S group, but what I’ve read doesn’t align with “loaded class of S”.
Because you don’t have 1st or 2nd round grades on them means there isn’t a depth of quality potential players? Got it.
Look at the history and numbers, Safety has some moderate success rate for finding a player in rounds 3-7.
2018 provided 5 guys who are productive in the league between rounds 3-6.
1 All-Pro who was a UFA
2019; 6 between 3-7
1 UFA starter
2020; 6 between 3-7. (This draft has 3 guys half the board were clamoring over to sign this off-season)
2021; 4 between 3-6
2022; 2 between 3-7, 1 UFA
2023; 7 between 3-7, 1 UFA
All of those referenced have either become a starter or log a decent amount of snaps coupled with production.
In terms of the “mid range talent”, this draft has some decent prospects who could become starters over the next few years. More so to me than last years draft.
Obviously it would have to be a revisit down the road, so you’re more than welcome to come back to this and prove me wrong when the time comes.
I don’t disagree about the home run talent. It’s minimal at that position, 2-3 guys for the first two rounds. But there is a lot of quality and experience coming out this draft at that position.

Yes the days of coddling 1st, 2nd and 3rd round players is over. Trial by fire....sink or swim.
Always felt that was the way other than QB if they weren’t running a “pro system” in college.
Get your licks and play time early and often. Whether the play is great or not you see what you have to work with instead of a sprinkle here or there. Baptism by fire is the way. Cream always rises to the top.

I did, only way to keep 28. I think it would take the offense to a whole new level.
So just the 2 picks to get 17, 60 & 2025 1st?

I 100% disagree on the Safety class being loaded. Does it have some depth to it I can get behind that but outside of Cooper DeJean, I don’t have a 2nd round grade on another safety. It’s not loaded it has some developmental depth prospects
Personally, there’s at least 20-25 guys who will get drafted at that position. That, at a minimum is 10% of the draft. Same as it has been. Of those guys I think 10-15 of them are starters with 2-3 years.
DeJean, Hicks, Bullock, Nubin, Bullard, Bishop, Brade, Kinchens, Oladapo, Williams, Green and Demerson.
Then you got the other haul of players who could develop into quality talent; Smith, Mustapha, Logan Jr, Vaki, Proctor, Carlies and Taylor…
Difference of opinion but I think it could be a great year for safeties. -

The problem with not watching games, only highlights, is that a guy like Keon Coleman shines in highlights. You don’t see his lack of separation. He’s not in my top 10 (and maybe not top 15) targets for the Bills for that reason.
Listening to Beane talk about receivers, it sounded like Ladd McConkey to me.
Yeah brother. That’s where I’m at with both of those FSU guys.
The same guy is who I’m thinking too. Wouldn’t hate it as he’s not the prototypical big bodied dominant receiver but the kid is a gamer. His best year however was when Burton transferred to Alabama and Mitchell to Texas. Not saying that year was pedestrian but he wasn’t exactly dominant as the number 1 WR for Bennett.
Either way, he has tremendous value to move around the field and like you said, for where we are picking it sounds like he’s the guy who fits what Beane was highlighting regarding the position.

You don’t know that. We lost corner after corner last season and players kept stepping up. Players who fans viewed as not being depth going into last season. Same for the LB corps.
You’re right but his point was depth. Which, as it stands is 2 practice squad guys from last season; Ja’marcus Ingram and Kyren Brown… They didn’t get called up for a reason.Personally I don’t think the quartet of Benford/Douglas/Johnson/Elam is that bad but it certainly could be better behind them. Liked what I saw from Ingram on the limited action he saw on the field and so did the Bills hence the futures contract he signed at the end of the season.
Do need some other bodies in there for the same reason you also stated; we lost corner after corner. Need to get 2 if not 3 more guys to enter the start of the camps. Having enough DBs is never a bad thing in today’s game. Especially with the luck we’ve had the past 3 years.

Absolutely loaded with talent at Safety this year.
CB I think falls out of the range talent wise to be picking at 60 but you never know. Pretty top heavy and I feel it thins out between the middle of round 2 to round 5.
Might have to target one of those Penn State boys, all 3; Dixon, Hardy & King, have talent. King probably goes in the 3rd IMO and Hardy the last of that trio purely down to size.
Oregon’s Jackson is intriguing, big body who uses him frame well to contest catches; only problem is he has a tendency to hang on and grab the matchup he’s guarding. Needs some refinement there.
Jarrian Jones and Cam Hart are two CBS I’m keeping an eye on. Look to have the tools to be decent boundary players.
Only concern is why they moved Jones primarily to slot CB at FSU this year when the two prior he was solid outside… Think he’s better than Cypress and a little worse than Green who’s coming out this draft also.
Do need to draft a CB and at least 1 safety though…
Will be interesting to see the revamp.

I did one earlier that had the Ravens trading up to #30 to jump Detroit for Graham Barton (which is not far fetched TBH). So I went back to #30, picked up an extra 4th. Still got AD Mitchell in the first. Took Bralen Trice at #60 (not my favourite pick but he was best value on the board plays a priority position and a need position) then traded two of my now three 4ths and one 5th to get into the end of round 3 and take Jaden Hicks (who I increasingly love as a Bills specific fit). Then Maason Smith was there in round 4 and Beaux Limmer in round 5.
I mean.... I would be pretty ecstatic if those ended up our first five selections. Mitchell isn't my favourite WR for us but I think he fits the style and need. Trice isn't an explosive pass rusher but he is capable of backing up Groot and if you don't see that jump from him this year then Trice gives you the option not to have to commit to a second deal and an in-house replacement. Hicks is a really nice fit. Smart, called the defense, was trusted to adjust coverages... speed is the question but Poyer and Hyde were never fliers either. Smith is a talent who didn't maximise it in college but sitting behind Ed and rotating in is perfect for him and I really like Limmer. He could the job as a rookie. Love his feet.
I got Guerendo after that too. Basically I'd sign for that draft right now.
We need a safety, as we all know. Jaden Hicks, Cole Bishop and Jaylon Carlies are who I hope they target. All natural athletes with good instincts at the position. Productive as well for multiple years.
Wouldn’t mind Oladapo or Air Force’s Trey Taylor either for the same reasons.
This draft has a lot of guys who look to have NFL talent.

I don’t know man, I think you’re probably right given his combine stats and production during one of the harder schedules in CFB. The only thing against him is an absolute quiet first 4 years…- 1

I've been hoping for a big X, but if Nabers is available there, push all your chips in. It wouldn't be a total shock if Nabers is the first WR off the board.
Yeah, it’s Nabers & MHJ as the 1 and 2. Take your pick as whos first. Personally, it’s MHJ for me but each to their own. Odunze isn’t that far behind.
I’d actually group Odunze and Thomas as the 3 & 4. Edge goes to Odunze due to back to back solid seasons @ Washington. They measured similarly across the board at the combine drills with the only obvious difference being the 40 time where Thomas was noticeably faster than expected.

The chart I looked at has #28 worth 660 points. #10 is 1300 and # 15 is 1050. My guess is your price might get you #10, but I suppose it depends on the negotiators and how desperate the team is to move up.
It’ll be a long shot but the Bears are probably the best team to trade with. They have nothing this year to work with and might be willing to part with #9 for a couple later picks, and 2025 1st & 3rd.
Would love that to be the case of Nabers or Odunze are still on the clock. However, if that’s the case I see a few teams calling them…

That was an outrageously low pay for KC to move up, for Mahomes yet.
No one's going to reciprocate for the Bills' try to move up, and this time the cost would be for a top 5 pick.
You’re absolutely right. Thought we got a little less than we should have at the time.
Ball park to get into the 10-15 range would be what? Pick 28 and next years 1st & 3rd?

I said “loaded with talent”… 🤷♂️
You specified rounds 1-2.
There is 10-15 guys who have the talent to be a starter or key contributor on a team to me.
Going by the previous years, that’s above the average.
LOL?
