Did any of them watch the show called the NFL? Like I'm sure he's a nice guy, but what would make anyone think he's anything more than a bridge at this point?

7 out of his past 9 seasons have been 4000+/25TDs… Think he’s still a viable starter in this league. Especially for a team in an absolutely abysmal division.

    Win-win for both parties.

After how he ended the year, that's crazy.

Lot of money to sit on the injury report… No different than Tre. Great player when they’re out there but that in turn becomes the issue…

Guy has a lot of tread.

Atlanta needed a Quarterback. No idea what the Vikings plan is now.

I know Mock drafts aren’t everything but in over half of the simulations I ended up running post-combine, they were trading up and selecting Daniels or Maye…

Ironically enough the team they traded with more often than not was Atlanta @ 8.

I feel like Aaron Jones is a complete back and much more physical than James Cook ?

Thought Cook actually started showing some more willingness in his physicality after entering the dog house for the 2nd time in one season…

The injury history is what I hinge my reluctance or disliking for that signing more than anything.

    Would you?

No. You got Cook who is pretty much the same just without the injury history.

Need a thumper to get the tough yards up the middle. Ty Johnson return would still be my preference.

     Dont forget Pitts

Oh yeah. They should be a lock for that division then lol

Going to put a bet on them now to make the playoffs before odds change…

Atlanta could be a force in that weak division.  They still got some money after the Cozens signing and 5 picks in the Top 79 this draft.

A WR with their 8th is a big possibility now.

    100% Odunze or Nabers.

Cousins, one of those 2, Bijan and London could be exactly like you said… a force.

in 22? Davante adams would’ve been a splash play

just thinking out loud to tua getting tyreek, Josh getting diggs, etc… burrow with chase is a little different but still a big swing.

if doing the platoon, I think I’d rather just go the Green Bay route with young guys

40-45m and no impact player seems the worst case, no?

They would have been special acquisitions but you’d have to believe that they didn’t want to depart with the capital that was given to get those players? Unless they didn’t even know they were on the block lol

I don’t disagree with anything you’ve said just feel that without giving up assets in future drafts, they haven’t done that bad with all things considered.

To me at least, they have an impact player in Engram. WRs are meh.

We don’t even know what kind of money Ridley is getting

He’s getting more than Bourne and Davis. Bank on that…

There’s no way they didn’t have some contact to gauge what he wanted…

Signing both Ridley & Mooney would be very difficult, but if they can get one of them, that would help a lot.

Then sign a player like Jefferson or Peoples-Jones. Receivers that are not superstars, but are reliable players. They also won't break the bank.

No more Harty or Sherfield type players. We need to get serious!

One of those two immediately helps everyone on offense. The talk will always come back to Davis to an extent but when we had John Brown and Gabe pairing the success on the dee ball we were blowing the brakes off teams and looked borderline unstoppable. Need to get that element back.

Your point about reliable players is right on the money. I equate it similar to the NBA, you don’t win games by the superstar or starting 5 come the playoffs, you win by the depth of talent you have on the roster as a whole. At the WR position exclusively, there wasn’t much after Diggs even with Shakir.

Beane is not one to fill immediate needs with draft picks. They are probably going to bring in a veteran, but I don't think they can't afford a really good one. We shall see.

You have to do both though given the current roster and future. The top guys next season; Justin Jefferson, Chase, Aiyuk & Higgins are all going to fetch mega deals.

That leaves either another trade for WR or the alternative older or lesser options on the market…

If he isn’t going to fill that position immediately with draft picks then what do you do? Trade for one obviously.

The comment was “Ridley is a downgrade from Davis.”

I’m saying I’d rather have Calvin Ridley than Gabe Davis at WR.  They downgraded the WR2 position from one season ago

I know. I agree but the point is they cant/aren’t willing to shell out for Ridley if that’s what they paid Gabe…

The next best option isn’t that bad was simply my point.

    Calvin Ridley

    Darnell Mooney

    Marquise Brown

    Curtis Samuel

    DJ Chark

    Van Jefferson

    Donovon Peoples-Jones

Sign two of these players, and then draft two receivers.

    That’s a good shout.

Ridley and Mooney would be perfect, wonder if we can afford even one of those two.

Jefferson or DPJ could be interesting.

put another way: do you prefer having 3 incomplete players, or better off actually getting an elite guy and adding a decent vet plus a pick?

Who are the elite guys they were adding those years, 2022 & 2024? This year the top guys who could be argued resigned with their respective teams… 2022 they picked up the best option in Kirk and acquired the best TE that FA period unless Uzomah was your preference…

Could they do better? Absolutely. But the options the last 3 years aren’t exactly littered with any star receiver… 2023 saw who? Jarvis Landry? Kenny Golladay?

Again, I’m looking at the bigger perspective of what they’ve had to work with. They haven’t done that bad seeing as they’ve been in the position to over pay and have acquired the best possible players at the receiving position whether you like them or not over the past 3 year period.

Gabe Davis and harty often combined for zero catches. we aren’t replacing a massive impact

id expect a mid tier vet or two and a high draft pick still.

Honestly, I’m with you on that point and not worried at all. With the lack of production rfor periods in the end of the season between all the guys who specifically play WR; Stef, Gabe, Harty, Sherfield… The other guys we have stepped up; Cook, King Cade & Shakir. Diggs is still Diggs.

Add a high pick and a guy from FA and how much worse can it actually be? I’d argue it’ll be better considering the guys who stepped up when we were hanging on by the skin of our teeth will only see more playing time and targets.

Future isn’t as bleak even without a selection that high for Josh. We still got Big Blue, that’ll always be enough to win.

imagine paying gabe-kirk-zay like 40-45m per year (or whatever the averages shake out to be combined)

and then a TE more than 10m on top.

50+ on pass catchers and kirks your best one?

Listen, if it were us I wouldn’t be a fan of it but Lawrence is still on a rookie deal so there’s that to factor in. With they way that franchise has been for years, they’re in a bind where they have to “over-pay” free agents… No different than us coming out of the drought years.

You only take a discount to play for a proven winner. You only take peanuts to play for a team that’s in absolute contention for Championships or a Lombardi. Jacksonville in the past 13 seasons have only finished higher than 3rd three times… two of them are their past 2 seasons. 2022 being the year they paid big money to both Kirk and Jones.
