@shaw66 convinced me the rule makes sense with this comment: Otherwise you get into weird territory of "well where was the ball relative to where the out of bounds player was" stuff and so on and so on. The NFL needs more objective calls and less subjective calls. Everyone remembers the pushing receivers out of bounds days right?
-
You know, any player can slide. Not just QBs. I think running backs should start sliding regularly to get the same advantage as QBs. Defenders will have to make sure to not over pursue with the threat of personal foul calls. Time to game the system!

It has to actually be a turnover. The call on the field was that it was NOT a turnover.
-
This is a great point and makes a good argument for the current rule.
-
Notice the part where i said possession. A receiver has to have possession and be in bounds for a catch. I think the same should apply to a ball on the ground in play. If you want that to count as out of bounds, you should have possession. Its actually the same in both cases. Your attempt at getting me actually proved my point. A more appropriate comparison would be calling it a catch if a pass bounces off a players helmet.

I agree. Let me know when one happens.
-
The call on the field was not a fumble recovery. So in order to get it overturned, there would have to be definitive proof that it did NOT hit his helmet. Not the other way around. It was too close to say that IMO. However, I think the premise of the rule is pretty dumb. I don't think the ball should be considered out of bounds unless someone with possession is touching the ball. Otherwise, the ball itself should have to be out of bounds (like when a player slaps it out). It tapping someone's helmet who is sprawled out of bounds is pretty silly.

There are plenty of games to complain about officiating. This isn't one of them.

Does it even matter if the Bills win? How is this depleted defense going to compete against KC? -

Josh Allen gets that call all the time when he flops. Can't argue with it here. -

I took all of the playoff teams and looked at what their records are against other playoff teams: Team | Record | Record against playoff teams Baltimore 13-4 6-3 Buffalo 11-6 5-1 Kansas City 11-6 1-4 Houston 10-7 2-2 Cleveland 11-6 4-3 Miami 11-6 1-5 Pittsburgh 10-7 5-3 San Fran 12-5 5-3 Dallas 12-5 3-4 Detroit 12-5 3-3 Tampa Bay 9-8 1-5 Philly 11-6 6-2 LA Rams 10-7 2-6 Green Bay 9-8 3-3 The Bills actually have the best record percentage wise and the only loss was by a 60+ yard kick in the rain. The other 5 losses were against non-playoff teams which isn't great but it bodes well that the Bills rose to the occasion against top competition. Other observations: - Not surprising the Dolphins have a terrible record against playoff teams. The narrative on them against good teams stands. - More surprising is KC also did poorly against playoff teams with only one win against Miami, the team they are playing this weekend. - Baltimore and Philadelphia had the most wins against playoff teams by only 1. - Pittsburgh actually has a strong record against playoff teams. Can't take them lightly. Granted one of those was against the Ravens backups.

Go for it. Easy decision.

Padding those turnovers just in case so he maintains cumulative lead after next year too.
