If you're going to hand over the reigns to Whaley, at least let him draft the guy he decides he sinks or swims with. EJ Manuel lost him the game before it even began. Not only did it ruin his job, but it probably cost him his career as well. He basically took a giant **** and left everyone else to clean it up. Thanks, buddy. 😒 You almost can't blame him for doing the Sammy Watkins trade up. Doug Whaley was throwing the GM version of a Hail Mary. Khalil Mack would of most likely been the pick if Whaley had any type of job security, but he swung for the home run instead. A player he thought could contribute right away and cover up for that *** stain of a 1st round QB. You have to give credit where credit is due and admit Buddy Nix did a excellent job of getting some actual top-tier talent to Buffalo again. He hit on a lot of high 1st & 2nd rounders such as Marcell Dareus, Stephon Gilmore, Cordy Glenn, (who played a huge part in drafting Josh Allen) Paul Poslunsny, etc. As well as some decent late-rounders/UDFAs like Nigel Bradham, Arthur Moats, David Nelson, etc. I think Buddy Nix's biggest acquisition and defining move as Buffalo Bills GM was the signing of Mario Williams. People laughed when Buffalo was rumored to be one of the many teams after him. At the time, Buffalo was one of the worst (if not THE worst) free agent destination and the butt of many jokes between players. After an intense bidding war, Buddy Nix pulled off one of the least expected moves of all time and signed Super Mario to a massive contract worth 100 million through 6 years w/ 50 guaranteed making if the most money ever spent on a defensive free agent. It shocked not only Buffalo, but the entire sports world as well. People can debate whether they think the signing was worth it or not, but here's my take. He put up some great production while he was here and that defensive line I'm convinced is the best of all time, but the move to acquire Williams was much more than that. I think it broke down the free agent barrier and greatly improved the national perception of Buffalo being a desirable free agent destination. It paved the way for many more signings to come in the future so I'm thankful to Buddy Nix for that. Sorry for the long post, but I must include the Kelvin Sheppard/Jerry Hughes swap from Indianapolis. Besides the Mario signing, this is a close #2 for best Buddy Nix move. Jerry Hughes was not exactly a BUST at the time, but he was stuck behind Dwight Freeney & Robert Mathis. The trade wasn't huge news and fans were just hoping to get some kind of value out of the wasted 3rd rounder from Sheppard. Everyone knows the ending to this story. The Colts got absolutely fleeced and Jerry Hughes is a potential future Wall of Famer and still playing! 💯 One of my favorite players and only jersey I own. 🙏 God bless 'em. All in all, if football wasn't a completely QB driven league like it is now then Nix would be an amazing GM. 😅

Passing the Torch - JK to JA
ChronicAndKnuckles replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, absolutely NOTHING the statisticallly best pass rusher of all time could teach Rousseau. 🤣😭😅 What a dolt. -
I feel like AJ Epenesa is a dark horse among the breakout candidates this year. Personally, I don't see him becoming a super sack-master. I'm hoping he can become an all around, jack of all trades, solid starter. 8-10 sacks, strong in run support, and racking up lots of tackles for a lineman. If either of the top 2 DE rookies can break out, Hughes upping his sack totals a bit, Star back, and Ed Oliver finally plays to his draft status then might see a totally different defense. Unfortunately, that's a lot of IFs and Buts. I do think we will see an improvement. Whether it's a big of small one only time will tell.

Those statistics are more of a testament on how terrible the Bears have been at quarterback evaluation. It's pretty crazy considering they've been around since 1920 making them the 2nd oldest franchise (Packers are the oldest by a year.) So in a full CENTURY the best QB's they could produce were Sid Luckman, George Blanda, (both pre-1950) Both Jims Harbaugh/McMahon, Kyle Orton, and Smokin' Jay Cutler. That is a very mediocre list. I'll give you credit that Mitch Trubisky's #'s are pretty decent when you look at them on paper. The pick-six one is impressive as well. If you compare Josh Allens first 2 seasons versus Mitch Trubisky's first 2 on stats alone, they look pretty similar. Both had (statistically) unimpressive rookie seasons and had a big jump in the numbers in their 2nd years. All that's interesting & all, but the game tape tells a much better story. Anyone with any football knowledge (that's not a Bears fan) could see that Josh Allen was the more impressive QB. This is why I get annoyed by this era of fantasy football & analytics. With all of that being said, he's only 26 and there's still a chance that he can become a starter someday. I'm not closing the book on him yet. It was a great signing that upgrades the Bills at a very important position. We'll see how the future unfolds for him. 👍

Did a little more research and thinking on the subject and... I agree w/ your points. Barkley essentially went 2-1 if you count the last Miami game, but you're right that Trubisky is a superior QB and athlete. Plus younger w/ higher upside. What you see is what you get w/ Barkley which is a career sub-60% completion rate and a pretty mediocre arm. I just didn't wanna disrespect him because he's a class act and did win us a couple games. I'm pretty sure he'll find a home w/ another team. If Blaine Gabbert still has a career then there's no reason Barkley shouldn't.

Now that I've had more time to think about it I guess #20 is a reasonable spot to put him. The Bears were actually WINNING (ugly) when he was in. I have no clue why their stupid coach put in Nick Foles. Reminds me of the Flutie/Johnson situation and even moreso the Peterman/Tyrod one by making themselves look even more dysfunctional pulling Foles and putting Mitch back in (the reason they were in the playoff hunt to begin with) barely making it to the Wildcard game. I agree that he wasn't the sole reason they sucked, but he needs a ton of work. That Bears organization is a dumpster 🔥 regardless of them making the playoffs. Hopefully for their sake they don't ruin Fields. He's a player I think can have a great career if they develop him properly.

I like the pickup also, but I don't think they are able to win 10/17 with this run game. Also, I disagree about Trubisky being a top 20 QB (at the moment.) I do think he is a very intriguing prospect in the same ballpark as someone like Sam Darnold, both being high draft picks for big city/big market teams and not really put in the ideal position for success. Buffalo's media is definitely a far cry from Chicago's. I want to see how he does with less pressure, better coaching, and a superior offensive cast. I don't think the Bears took enough advantage of Mitch's speed & athleticism. With Allen's physical style, there's a good chance he could miss a couple games, unfortunately. Plus, after the mistake of playing so many starters in the final Miami game and a tougher 17 game schedule, they will probably rest their starters the final 1-2 games (depending on the standings obviously.) If Trib can shine in those moments then he might land a decent contract next year. I just wish Buffalo could've signed him for a year or 2 longer so they'd be able to make a return on all the time developing him. On the plus side, they have a year rental on a player similar to Allen to keep the offense chugging along in case (knock on wood) something were to happen. He's a solid upgrade to Matt Barkley and I like that the Bills are taking initiative this season getting better wherever they can whether it's backup QB or even punter. It's not that Trubisky is necessarily "better" than Barkley, they just wanted someone in a more similar mold. I think there's an advantage to that, but also one to have a backup that plays a completely different game come in and screw up the opp's game plan.

I would've definitely said the LA Rams drive, but that penalty at the end just makes me feel really guilty for some reason. I know technically it WAS defensive holding, but it just seems too flukey to me. The funny thing is that's the type of thing that would of happened to the Bills during the drought. Question to Bills fan. I remember a game where the Buffalo either caught the game winning TD in the last moments of the game, but it was ruled an incompletion. It was one of the worst calls ever, but for the life of me I cannot remember who caught it or who it was against. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Edit: it was the last moment of the 1st half actually and was against the Patriots (how could I forget?)

Beat me to it. Seemed like a "defining" TD drive at the time to show the league that the Bills meant business. Even when it turned into a slug fest, Allen/Diggs delivered in crunch time. Then Hail Murray. I haven't had my heart jump and that feeling of disbelief, watching the replay over & over hoping that it somehow changes since the Stevie drop/Dallas Monday nighter 2009. People can say what they want about it motivating the Bills down the stretch, but I'll always feel like the Cards have one up us bc of that. I'd gladly trade 2 losses to have that win back. Oh well..

Whaley the idiot. That pick would've made so much sense on so many levels. The planets basically aligned for them and they cheated destiny for *ladies & gentleman* Sammy Watkins. Yes, nobody thought Watkins would suck as bad as he did, but everyone in their grandma would've swung for Mack, the safer pick with just as much upside @ a position of need as well. Edit: On some Butterfly Effect **** we might not of ended up with Josh Allen though so maybe it all worked out. I'm not one for these kinds of posts, but when it comes to Mack I'd say get er' done, Beansie. If he can somehow swing it. I'd use a 1st on him. It certainly worked for Diggs.

The Bills are the most complete team in the NFL.
ChronicAndKnuckles replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sorry, but definitely not the most complete in my very humble opinion. The offensive line is average at best, can't run block, and we know Josh Allen avoids a **** load of sacks on his own either scrambling or ripping out of arm tackles. You already pointed out TE. Until these rookies pan out we're lacking a pure pass rusher as well. #2 CB can be upgraded, but not exactly a "hole." No RB on our roster has yet to exceed 800 yards rushing, even if you combine the yardage of Moss and Singletary they barely eclipses 1000, and neither can catch. Now you can blame the offensive line for that also, but that just further proves my point. We are certainly above average, but If you take away Josh Allen I don't think they can go further than .500 honestly. In order to be the BEST in the league then you should still be pretty competitive even without your starting QB. Even when Mahomes went down the KC offense still chugged along and won games. -
Diggs played with torn oblique in playoffs?
ChronicAndKnuckles replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, it certainly makes sense. He was nearly unstoppable all season and then rendered ineffective in the most important game of the season. Combine that w/ KC getting away w/ holding the whole game and it's like no wonder. My only gripe is coaches deciding to play him in the Miami game. I know the receiving crown is very important to a player and I'm sure it came down to his decision in the end. Being the best of the best for a season is something you can never take away and I understand completely why he suited up that game. That dirty hit he took while on his knees either injured him or made the pre-existing injury worse. The best and most unpopular decision would've been to let him rest. That would've been pivotal. What's the point of getting the #2 seed without reaping the benefit of a bye week? Stupid *** rule and it ended up costing us. A healthy cast of WRs would've made all the difference that game. Also Stephon playing in the Miami game hurt as well. He took some big shots -
Rex Burkhead-- signing with Texans
ChronicAndKnuckles replied to Miyagi-Do Karate's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. I also brought him up in a thread as a potential signing here. I felt Buffalo needed a RB w/ some versatility and pass catching ability. Oh well. Hopefully that Breida guy is it. -
I agree that they don't have much outside of Brown. I forgot they lost Corey Davis to free agency. They would definitely benefit from Julio Jones as most teams would, but he's still a luxury for them and not an absolute necessity. Who knows who will step up? Kind of like Gabriel Davis w/ the Bills coming out of nowhere. Regardless, you can make the case that Jones could put them over the edge as a true Super Bowl threat too. This is my opinion of course and yours is just as good as mine. I've never really been a fan of Aaron Rodgers' personality. If anything he should be complaining about defense, not offense. I can see exactly why they drafted Jordan Love as insurance. Tom Brady never complained about his receivers, he just made it happen w/ what he had. It's actually kind of a slap in the face to his teammates. 90% of the NFL would kill to have a #1 like Adams. But just like the Titans, the Pack would also dominate w/ Julio Jones and Adams as a 1A & 1B. It's a not an absolute need for them no matter how much Rodgers complains. It's going to cost them a lot. We'll see what happens.
-
I agree that Sherman lost maybe half a step, but he's still a formidable corner. Down the road as he ages, I wonder if he'll convert to safety. I think he'd make a good one as he's a great ZONE player, ball-hawk, and physical. What I don't agree w/ is your last paragraph. The Packers are pretty set at #1 receiver w/ Devante Adams who some would argue is the best in the league. Diggs had slightly more yards/receptions, but Adams had double the TD's. Titans are more than set at #1 WR w/ AJ Brown. The only reason he doesn't put up even bigger #'s is due to the offense going through Derrick Henry. Put him on the emerging Chargers or Bengals and I see him putting up massive #'s. Sure, Julio Jones would improve these teams because he's freaking Julio Jones, but the teams you listed aren't "starving" for a #1 guy. They're actually pretty set.

Lol Yeah, you know things are going down hill when you honestly know you could do their job better than them. I should just get a counterfeit journalism degree from the dark web made up for me and start applying for these jobs. Seriously, nobody would even know the difference. It's sad the way Journalism has ended up. Writing to me is an art form 💯

I feel like I'm wasting my time and stating the obvious arguing against this guy's opinion b/c everyone on this forum already know how ridiculous it is. I feel dumb for even giving this guy a view. I wouldn't trade Allen for Aaron Rodgers let alone Dak Prescott lol Actually, there are maybe 4-5 players in the WHOLE NFL I might trade him player-for-player which are Mahomes, Watson, Russell Wilson, Herbert, or Burrow. And that's only if a situation occured where he wanted to leave Buffalo or something and I had to get what I could get for him. Pick-wise it would take about three 1's, two 2s, a mixture of 3-5s, and a Blue Chip player. IDK where the somewhat popular opinion of Josh Allen regressing next year came from and why some fans believe it. He's has done nothing, but trend upwards and increase his #'s every year. Sure, he'll plateau eventually, but I don't see him regressing unless it's by a couple TD's or so. He's guaranteed 10+ TD's rushing, 30+ passing TD's, and 4500-5000 total all purpose yards. He was the BITCOIN of NFL prospects. Bills bought in early and are now reaping the benefits. Who would've thought? 🤔

Who is the next Wyatt Teller
ChronicAndKnuckles replied to OnTheRocks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You sound like a miserable *** person lol calling people's posts "garbage" and saying that they're a troll. It's someone's opinion on a message board, that's what they're for! Some of y'all take this crap wayyy too seriously. It's the off-season. U gonna attack the guy bc his belief doesn't align w/ yours? FYI, U just proceed to make yourself look ignorant. The funny thing is everything you said was opinion-based. You have no clue how Teller would've been developed here unless you invented a time machine that nobody knows about and saw both alternate realities go down. 🤡 -
Who is the next Wyatt Teller
ChronicAndKnuckles replied to OnTheRocks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not sure why u got so many negative reactions for this post. The Bills screwed up big time with that trade. Teller would've greatly improved this pathetic run game here. As far as your question, I have no idea. -
Ranking NFL 2021 'Triplets'
ChronicAndKnuckles replied to Saxum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Below average?! 🤣 Maybe maybeee his 1st year, but the last quarter of the season he was playing as well as anyone. He was a demon in the ground game too which offset some of his passing issues. Again this is probably someone who didn't watch the games, but looked at the box score & stats instead. I'd trust your average Bills fan's evaluation of any Bills player over the average media "expert." But the guy is right that Buffalo lacks a good running back even though they make up for it with one of the best WR corps. Singletary doesn't have any above average traits/skills like catching, blocking, speed, or power. He is pretty mediocre, but I do think he can make a decent change-of-pace runner. As far as Moss, I think he has some good traits. A couple things I like about him is he hits the hole pretty hard (giggity) and he's got some power at 5'9 223 so he certainly has the build to be a work-horse. I think he has the potential to become the next Travis Henry, but that's gotta start with the line. The blocking for both of these backs is inexcusable. Basically Daboll looked at it as a wasted down a lot of the time and opted to throw.
