5th year option?? That's for 1 year. I'm talking about a 5-7 year contract.

Gabriel Davis with Week 10’s Toe Drag Swag!
ChronicAndKnuckles replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Gabe Davis was my break out player this year. It's truly a shame that he's not out there on the field more being utilized. We need someone out their w/ a little size. I do think going forward that he will end up a perennial thousand yard receiver. I think he makes some key plays in the post-season and it's possible (knock on wood) someone will get injured. In that case, I am more than comfortable having a fresh Gabe Davis in the starting line up. -
I honestly don't see much of a drop from Edmunds to Klein and neither do the Bills players themselves. They both bring their own style and I feel Klein is more or a playmaker whereas Edmunds is just consistent thru out the whole game and much better in coverage yet weaker in run support. I'm not an Edmunds fan and I won't pretend to be. There's a reason he hasn't been signed to a massive deal yet. I don't think he's retained after this season unless he steps up in the playoffs (playoffs?!) 😡

I disagree w/ Beasley. Slot receivers built like him can play well into their mid to late 30s. Welker, Amendola, Edleman, Brandon Stokley, Randle Cobb, etc are good examples. They would be dumb to get rid of him. Guy pretty much took over the the Miami game and got us the win. When it's 3rd and 22, you know Beasley's gonna be the one Josh looks to first. So many people think he's expendable and I'd love to know their thought process. If you know football then you know how important a great slot guy is. There's only about 5 elite ones in the league.
-
What the heck happened to that guy? Spiller had that one great season in 2012 where he put up nearly 1700 yards from scrimmage (around 1250 rushing and 450 passing.) The highlights from that year are fun to watch and it's among my favorite single season performances of any Bill, guy was incredibly shifty. Definitely one of the more baffling draft picks of all time. Surprisingly he lasted 9 years in the league.

Did the Jets game really prove anything????
ChronicAndKnuckles replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall
Why don't people realize that the teams they beat have losing records BECAUSE THEY PLAYED THE BILLS 😡 And It didn't prove anything? It's a division win that is much needed w/ New England creeping up behind us. Use your head, man. 😣 -
That would be optimal. The Bills absolutely need to go into the playoffs w/ a healthy cast of WRs. Hopefully we see a continuation of Gabe Davis and McKenzie as the season progresses. Take some of the wear and tear off the starters. Knox could indeed be the X-factor going forward. Look how the offense performs when he's a healthy scratch. This team has needed a competent Tight End for so long.

I hate to say it … but the Pats are coming
ChronicAndKnuckles replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
Exactly. When Allen gets that rare clean pocket when he sort of stands still and scans the field, u know he's going to make a big play. It's tough. I hope the Bills go O-Line in the draft and sign a big name in free agency. But I do think it takes more than a good offensive line to make a good QB. Look no further than Baker Mayfield. You still need to know how to scan the field and read a defense. I'm not so sure than Mac Jones has hit his ceiling yet. I think he can become a Kirk Cousins type player given time. -

ChronicAndKnuckles replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
I was on the MJ bandwagon all off-season and was pretty upset that the Pats picked him up. He's playing as well as I pretty much expected him to be. His accuracy and quick release has translated to the NFL pretty well SO FAR. With that said...he has not faced a defense like Bills yet. There's no way the Patriots come into Buffalo at home and win that game. None whatsoever, not with a rookie QB and you can quote me on this afterwards. I have a small hunch that we will split w/ u guys on the 2nd game only bc Buffalo sometimes likes to play down to the competition for some reason. I'm having serious deja vu from last year w/ the Dolphins. -
Best overall D player is Matt Milano. Poyer is certainly in the conversation as well. Come playoff time I think we will see a lot more of Davis. We don't want to show up injury riddled like last year. I fully expected Dawson Knox to take a step. Cutting Hollister proved to me that the Bills were ready for him to take on a bigger role. The offensive line play thus far has been shoddy and inconsistent at best. IMO, the #1 weakness on this team. It's all gravy that we beat the Jets, but how will they fare against the Titans or Patriots?
-
My gut tells me that we split w/ the Patriots and drop one more to either Tampa Bay or the colts (probably Tampa.) What you're saying is entirely possible too. I hope you're right 👍
-
Agreed. I've clamored for Gabe Davis since the off-season to have a big year. He's produced almost every time he's targeted. I'm torn w/ McKenzie. I love him as a returner and an occasional package-player, but I want to see what he can do on offense besides to the occasional jet sweep. Would be neat to see Daboll run more double-slot formations. At the same time, keeping McKenzie fresh for ST's will play a huge part in the field position battle.

Do you think a 4-3 formation could be a good one ?
ChronicAndKnuckles replied to Italian Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Not in this day and age. If you switch to a 4-3 base then that means you have to get rid of a DB like Taron Johnson or even Wallace (a very good player despite what some people say here.) I think 10+ years ago this would've worked tremendously. I've very impressed w/ Klein and I do agree that he should see the field more, but at the same time we're number 1 though so I don't think they should mess w/ what they got. Some packages w/ all 3 backers would be pretty sweet especially in obvious running downs -
The defense is what's going to propel us to playoff surge into the Super bowl. Josh Allen HAS TO take advantage of every turnover and short field they give him. This group of guys is truly special. I really hope they don't waste it. The offense needs to turn up. Let's see what they do next week. Jonathan Taylor is the best back we've faced since Henry.

Not counting the post-season. Bills have 8 games to go. I even think 3 is possible, but a long shot. Do you think it's possible? Who do you think will be the 2? I think the last time Buffalo had two 1K+ WRs was the early 2000s w/ Eric Moulds and Peerless Price. Cole Beasley = 461 Emmanuel Sanders = 500 Stefan Diggs = 750

Did the Jets game really prove anything????
ChronicAndKnuckles replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall
They beat who they were supposed to beat. Forget the Jags game. Every elite team this year has had a **** game against a team they were totally favored to beat. That's the NFL for you. We beat the Jets who beat the Titans who beat us. It's also not just about who you play, but when you play them. If given another chance at a rematch against Jax, they would get destroyed. Allen and the line had a bad game. It happens. -

ChronicAndKnuckles replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
Edmunds + Milano w/ a very versatile Klein as depth is an elite level lineup. Matt Milano is playing way above his contract. Guy just continues to make clutch plays and big hits continuously. He's always around the ball. He's just as good as a Judon or Van Noy. Retaining him (along w/ the Taron Johnson contract) was the smartest move this off-season. It can go either way. It's a wash. Yes, I'm a Bills fan so I'll give a slight edge to our guys. -

ChronicAndKnuckles replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
I hate to be that guy, but I got so much **** from a LOT of people on this board for predicting Mac Jones was going to be a problem. The guy is and has always been deadly accurate since college. I'm in no way rooting for him, I hope he busts, but w/ ALL of that said, the Pats aren't going to overtake us. They have a good defense but it's not even in the same stratosphere as Bills. We are better than them in every phase of the game. -
2nd Half Defense: What Happened
ChronicAndKnuckles replied to RyanC883's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Regardless, they gave up 16 points. I'll take that every single game in the modern day NFL. The offense and special teams are to blame, not the defense. We'll agree to disagree. -

ChronicAndKnuckles replied to RyanC883's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not to nitpick, but it was 2 sacks and SHOULD'VE been a pick. They also held Ben to 188 yards, 1 TD, and a 50% completion rate. Not bad for a guy who threw for 33 TD and nearly 4000 yards last year! I also want to mention that they held the Steelers to 75 yards rushing. They gave up some chunks in inopportune times, but all in all the defense played great. It was that stupid blocked punt that did them in along w/ that mental gaff by Sanders. -

You can't keep giving Pittsburgh a short field and expect the defense to keep holding them. Putting up points also would've helped. -
2nd Half Defense: What Happened
ChronicAndKnuckles replied to RyanC883's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Field position and special teams. I thought the defense played quite well and I'm pretty pumped for the season. I'm sure they'll win us a few close games when Allen is struggling as long as he doesn't turn the ball over. Exactly. Coaches can have off games just as players do. This loss was 80% on the coaching. I don't think Mike Tomlin is overall better than McDermott at this stage of their careers, but he indeed had a better individual game than McDermott.
