  1. Gugny, your takes are usually thought provoking with some meat behind them, but you're just wrong here, sorry. Whether from a win-loss record standpoint or statistically, you cannot say that Tebow is tied neck and neck with NP for worst ever in the NFL. For just a sample comparison I'm pulling out of my behind between who I've always associated as one of the worst ever, Ryan Leaf, versus Tebow, here's Leaf's lifetime stats: Year Age Tm Pos No. G GS QBrec Cmp Att Cmp% Yds TD TD% Int Int% Lng Y/A AY/A Y/C Y/G Rate Sk Yds NY/A ANY/A Sk% 4QC GWD AV Career 25 21 4-17-0 317 655 48.4 3666 14 2.1 36 5.5 83 5.6 3.6 11.6 146.6 50.0 65 377 4.57 2.71 9.0 2 3 1 1998 22 SDG qb 16 10 9 3-6-0 111 245 45.3 1289 2 0.8 15 6.1 67 5.3 2.7 11.6 128.9 39.0 22 140 4.30 1.93 8.2 1 2 -2 2000 24 SDG qb 16 11 9 1-8-0 161 322 50.0 1883 11 3.4 18 5.6 83 5.8 4.0 11.7 171.2 56.2 31 155 4.90 3.22 8.8 1 1 2 2001 25 DAL qb 16 4 3 0-3-0 45 88 51.1 494 1 1.1 3 3.4 38 5.6 4.3 11.0 123.5 57.7 12 82 4.12 2.97 12.0 1 Now compare to Tebow: Year Age Tm Pos No. G GS QBrec Cmp Att Cmp% Yds TD TD% Int Int% Lng Y/A AY/A Y/C Y/G Rate QBR Sk Yds NY/A ANY/A Sk% 4QC GWD AV Career 35 16 8-6-0 173 361 47.9 2422 17 4.7 9 2.5 56 6.7 6.5 14.0 69.2 75.3 41 258 5.38 5.22 10.2 6 6 1 2010 23 DEN qb 15 9 3 1-2-0 41 82 50.0 654 5 6.1 3 3.7 50 8.0 7.5 16.0 72.7 82.1 63.2 6 26 7.14 6.74 6.8 1 1 3 2011 24 DEN QB 15 14 11 7-4-0 126 271 46.5 1729 12 4.4 6 2.2 56 6.4 6.3 13.7 123.5 72.9 39.6 33 225 4.95 4.85 10.9 5 5 8 2012 25 NYJ fb/te 15 12 2 6 8 75.0 39 0 0.0 0 0.0 23 4.9 4.9 6.5 3.3 84.9 25.4 2 7 3.20 3.20 20.0 1 I haven't taken the time to chart others, but I'm reasonably sure there are significantly more names to pull out of that hat, including say, JaMarcus Russell?
  2. Tebow level? How is there any comparison? All Tebow did was take the Broncos to the playoffs, then BEAT the vaunted Steelers in said playoff game, before losing to the GOAT at New England. Elway then decides to part ways with him for the sake of bringing in 1st ballot HOFer Manning. If anything, Tebow has a stronger argument that he's usually cut too soon, not kept around too long.
  3. This has to be a metric almost impossible to objectively quantify as a whole; how are you supposed to account for the fans who stay home and down a 12-pack in the friendly confines of their living rooms as opposed to going out and getting a DUI, or aren't buying beer at the stadium, et al; or the fans going to the sports bar, or the fans staying in the tailgate lots, or the fans like me who watch and root from afar, and any alcohol they (or I) buy goes into the economic metrics of an altogether different metro area hundreds of miles away? I appreciate the effort, but the stats will always be playing catch up to reality with this one, IMHO.
  4. I get the sentiment. However, just who is he supposed to start in lieu this week? Barkley who hasn’t even had a chance to barely throw let alone absorb even a portion of the playbook? DA Statue who’s head is still ringing? If there were a choice at this moment between NP and a realistic other option, I’d be more in your camp
  5. Plus a couple games of tape for the opposing D's to scrutinize for tendencies and he'll come back down to earth in a hurry, at least most likely.
  6. Belichick went 5-11 his 1st year with the Patsies and obviously no playoffs. They were 8-8 the year before he got there, and a couple years before that were in the SB under Bill Parcells, so they weren't exactly a dumpster fire of a franchise when he took over.
  7. Cowboys, Jimmy Johnson 1989 (1-15). Steelers, Chuck Noll 1969 (1-13). 49ers, Bill Walsh 1979 (2-14).
  8. Again, better than the alternative of his home stats also being just as poor as his away stats, regardless of the circumstances. Also, wouldn't it be harder to throw accurately during a blizzard? Just sayin' for all of you who poo-poo his appearance in the snow game as meaningless. At the end of the day, none of this will matter depending on how this week goes. He will either gain a new lease on his NFL life because he balls out, or he cements his drop into the pee-wee coaching ranks. Here's to hoping he gets it together, because I really want the Bills to show up and give us a Minnesota-esque show to watch/cheer for.
  9. "So yes it all comes back to Peterman and McDermott's (who drafted him as Beane wasn't there) dogged defense of him and wanting him to succeed that has this team in such disarray." No, the continuing disarray with this team is due to the Bills' inability to keep anyone designated as QB so far this year, upright. Whether that is a schematic issue, talent issue, dumb luck, or all of the above, the fact is that you wouldn't have seen NP start again for the Bills if either of the 2 starters since the Ravens game weren't knocked silly into next week. We all feared that would happen at some point behind this O-line. JA's injury was a freak occurrence, DA's was not, immobile statue that he is. If either of the QB's in front of him were healthy enough to play, or if Barkley were up to speed on the playbook, NP would not be starting this week. How does that qualify as a "dogged defense" where there are no more bodies available on short notice to run out there?
  10. We officially are not even close to Gruden-bad territory now! What I'm wondering is what the folks here who say that McD is incapable of producing a competent offensive product (ever), because he comes from the D side of the ball, think about how the offensive guru/mastermind/QB whisperer is doing for comparison? https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2804086-bay-area-beatdown-cements-jon-grudens-raiders-as-nfls-worst-team?utm_source=cnn.com&utm_campaign=editorial&utm_medium=referral
  11. That sounds like a Cleveland-Esque move worse than Billsy to make. Would even Whaley cash in that many draft chips for a splash move with no long term plan—and hamstring our cap in the process?
  12. In the meantime, after tonight it’s bottom of the barrel time in Raiderland, with a worse record than Buffalo to boot! But nah, Gruden has the luxury of screening calls for only the best talent blowing up his flip phone! Umm, did anyone else think after looking at this pic of him in St. Louis Rams regalia, that he was in a witness protection program of some kind?? complete with a healthy squirt of spirit gum under that midnight black “stache”
  13. As an old coach in D-III (Presidents Athletic Conf) used to yell at us during drills if he was happy with the effort, “I’ll take that!” NP needs every bit of support he can get, from any/all sources—I’m hoping for the Clemson game NP to show up, and we literally have no other warm bodies to press into duty. I wonder what the NFL record is for #of different starting QB’s in a season for one team, as Barkley will no doubt see action at some point this year too...
  14. But the alternatives are sanctioned by the Geneva convention? Just as unappealing
  15. The world where DA has shown that for this season there’s simply not much better to replace NP with in the backup ranks. I have to hold my breath every time DA takes a step that he doesn’t snap a leg and his TD to turnover differential would make even NP shrug. None of that is DA’s fault given the circumstances, but to think that we are about to witness some sort of significant drop off from our QB play with NP this week would be shortsighted IMHO.
  16. He’d never stay on the field after the first 2, so he’s either going to play significantly better and there will be a lot of “crow” for dinner on these boards after, or he’ll be out before halftime and we get our first forgettable look at Barkley.
  17. Good post. I was one of the lynch mob calling for his head, but have come back around for the reasons you and others here have mentioned. Let's see what he can do with a full complement of competent weapons to work with.
  18. If there is going to be any kind of redemption tour starting this week for NP, then at least he gets that opportunity at New Era, where he hasn't thrown any picks (that I can remember), so there's that. Anderson frankly has looked vacant and depressed in his starts, terrible body language every time he hits the dirt, and I have to wonder how much longer by choice he will trot out there to take punishing blows on his senior citizen self. I'm sure Ms. Anderson is working as we speak on figuring out how he can retire for good with what they have already in the bank, and will turn this into a demand, not a Giselle type end of year request, lol.
  19. The saddest part is the font size—basically barely large enough for the beer guy to squint at. What kind of statement is that??
  20. So we should be perfect against him at Gillette! Do too many mafia members travel to those games?
  21. I’d say that’s a small minority calling you that! My own issue is with “fans” who are actively hoping he falls flat on his face instead of taking a step towards redeeming himself (just maybe, though doubtful). I want the Bills to win anytime they take the field, period
  22. The Sanchize of buttfumble fame, because this franchise needs someone who did something very Billsy for another team, since lightning wont strike twice like that right?
  23. I will pull for this kid like I do every QB who lines up with our uniform on, and keep my fingers crossed that Daboll will keep the pass options within his wheelhouse of ability. That is all.
  24. Agreed. However for what it is, it’s preferable to seeing 4 pick 6’s as part of that stat line. Baby steps with this one
