Jim Kelly wants to sit down with Josh Allen...
NoHuddleKelly12 replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Couldn't you say the same thing about 80% of what passes for breaking "news" on these boards? And in fairness to JK, he was being interviewed, it's not like he was drafting a press release for distribution, right? The underlying problem is we the fan consumers who in our thirst to know everything to the nth detail, down to what color the elastic straps holding the training camp gatorade jugs in place are, have driven certain media to put out whatever possible to slake said thirst. I believe this has been one of @Augie's gripes for sometime? Why do we have to know everything? Of that there is little doubt--it will be tarred and feathered suitably if there is ongoing failure this year, or lauded as the greatest ever if it succeeds (at least a WC win, please!). I love the old Bills, and I love me some new Bills as well--I wish nothing more than for JA to break all of JK's franchise marks! None of whom ever made it through JK in the playoffs. Danny the most at 0-3. -

Gugs, you lost me there. Would you rather we never have any historical roots/standards that this franchise should aspire to living up to and surpassing? If you forget where you came from and muddle through with no appreciation for the shoulders that bore this franchise's burdens for so long, then what's the point of keeping score in the first place? Apart from some arguably questionable tweeting by Reed within the past couple weeks, I've never heard that our alumni have interfered with, made worse, or in any other fashion have been a negative influence on the team, FO, coaching, etc. in all these years. As a player, I think I'd appreciate having the support and occasional input from someone who knows what it's like to lace up the cleats, been there, done that--but maybe I'm the crazy one for thinking that? -

Certainly nothing negative, because we've never heard that in all of these years since he hung it up. I also believe that he sees something special in Allen, so he may be more invested in doing whatever he can from a positive approach. Note: Early in mini-camps don't forget Josh raving about the time that he was able to spend with Jimbo, the substance of which he also chose to keep private, but you got the distinct impression that Josh is a fan of whatever interaction Jim has with him (or at least at that time). I think the dynamics here are much ado about nothing, frankly. -
Elite Player and Coaches

WC soccer—Juergen Klinsmann won in ‘90 as a player, and then finished 3rd in the world as manager in 2006, before taking the US team job. Incidentally, his manager in ‘90, Franz Beckenbauer, also won the WC as a player in ‘74, one of only 3 men to ever have done that at the WC level. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franz_Beckenbauer -
A Few Thoughts on Witten

Haven’t seen this posted anywhere yet so thought I’d share—sorta feel bad for the guy, but then I remember he’s a former Cowboy, so I take that thought back as quickly as it comes: https://www.sbnation.com/2019/1/27/18199841/jason-witten-broke-the-dang-pro-bowl-trophy -
1993 Bills - only team to beat last 3 SB champs?
NoHuddleKelly12 replied to Dan Darragh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why are you a fan of such a “loser” franchise? If the SB years and winning all of those AFC titles and 13 wins per reg season sucked so bad, then just how miserable has it been during the drought, am I right? But I’m sorry that a fun team to watch that had a cutting edge O and brought it every week, and was the bane of Dan Marino’s existence, means nothing to you. -

I’ve seen some egregiously questionable hot takes made into threads around here, but this one is...special. A lot of other posters here have already pointed out just how special, so I won’t pile on the OP. But SMH ??♂️. -

Good to know! One of those pesky facts not disclosed during the safety speech monologues performed at the beginning of each flight. -
Also, while not a war movie in the sense of not a lot of explosions and unending machine gun chatter, "The One That Got Away" (1957) is definitely one of the best I've ever seen from the standpoint of suspense and a great escape based on a true story, a la if you liked "The Great Escape," I think you will also really like this one. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0050803/

Great list. Der Untergang is one of the best at depicting the final chaotic days in Berlin--love it. For another German classic, you can't go wrong with "Stalingrad," the 1993 Joseph Vilsmaier-directed piece. The storylines are more compelling in that than Enemy at the Gates, imho. There's a scene where infantry soldiers with no heavy guns are facing a T-34 massed attack that is alone worth watching it for. "Generation War" used to be on Netflix, has some good Russian front combat sequences. Battle of Britain (1969). Like you said, so many, hard to keep track of them all.

You have a way with the words my friend. However, they never give me sugar cookies--I usually have to make do with peanut butter crackers, the kind with the orangey-looking cracker part? Oh well, can't win em all.

I don't want to even imagine. Is it possible to ask for a special solo drop of an oxygen mask along the way to help out? I sometimes get underarm rashes from the aluminum derivatives in anti-perspirants, but regular deo usually is fine--the only difference is that it doesn't stay as dry as an anti-perspirant would. A deodorant of any kind definitely always needs a masking fragrance scent, otherwise I'd be more like your friend, and no one wants that around . -
This will sound terrible, but I gave for the first time while in college, because one of the sorority ladies I was interested in at the time was a long-time donator and I played it off as "of course, I give too" and will join you in the mobile ARC bus...so needless to say, my motivations were not from the goodness of my heart. I've always hated needles so this was kind of a big deal for me. Fast forward a generation, and I've done it periodically since, with no hope for romantic entanglements as a direct result, so maybe I'm not quite as selfish as I used to be? (I hope)

Was Mark Kelso the Best FS in Bills History?

Revolutionary for his time! Back then nobody cared about head trauma, but his idea was sound in principle, no? I agree--really liked him -
Is Tom Brady A Cheater?
NoHuddleKelly12 replied to Marv's Neighbor's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I respect the dynastic greatness we’ve seen from the Pats/Brady/BB since 2001, and I’ve grudgingly referred to TB12 as the GOAT on these boards plenty. As Bills fans we should know as much as anybody just how much of a feat it is to sustain any kind of greatness over time, coming back time after time. That disclaimer out of the way, doesn’t mean we don’t get to poke fun at their expense—I will be reprising a memes thread the week before every game against them like I did this year, because, why not? As football fans we can appreciate what run they’re on (unnecessary cheating episode warts notwithstanding), but as Bills fans we get to also boo their arrogant smug mugs and pile on, hoping to crack their streaks with our own new wunderkind at the helm. We can do both, people! -
Excuse me Sean, your playcall sheets look like they could use another layer of laminating--I'll get that taken care of for you right away!

@Bleedingreennc Always good to see a fan of another team, especially a rival in the AFC E, having kind words to say in a situation like this!

The Browns used to be the cream of the NFL crop when they first entered the league...what a disaster for the most part since then! The Browns won a championship in their inaugural NFL season, as well as in the 1954, 1955, and 1964 seasons, and in a feat unequaled in any of the North American major professional sports, played in their league championship game in each of the Browns' first ten years of existence. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cleveland_Browns I suppose we don't have a whole lot of room talk with the drought and all, but still, they have taken awfulness to a record setting level of their own. Of course, their future looks very bright, so there's that.

One of the local sports radio stations here did a "tease" this morning before a commercial break, saying something to the effect that, 'wait till you hear which long time coach was just sent packing by a successful NFL club, and who has been mentioned as the most likely highly entertaining candidate to replace him'--and of course I figured right away they had to be talking about this, which is what it was, with no additional sourcing info behind it beyond the Schefter tweet. Made me wonder if I'm in the wrong line of work if that's all it takes as a radio talking jockey? I get they're not sports journalists in that sense, but to not even consider how or why that take might not be accurate, is what got me as a listener. -
