Does Brady finally hang it up now?

Ha! Great reference 33 to the old ST pilot episode and certainly feels that way at times. Without googling it, I think that was The Menagerie? -
Super Bowl Ratings Hit 10-Year Low
NoHuddleKelly12 replied to RalphWilson'sNewWar's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hmmm, ok interesting take. So why is it that I can’t have both? Seems to me like the Pats can turn it on and off on either side of the ball at will, and in fact rode their D to the W last night. How about instead of aspiring to become one dimensionally great, we go nuts and are good on both sides of the ball? That’s my vote OP. -
As do I. Just feel like having the benefit of a few off-season data points that are pretty major (draft, FA) would go a long way towards actually making the preseason odds pick #'s worthwhile, as opposed to just being numbers my 3 year old comes up with, that's all. Here's to hoping.

I always have to chuckle at this kind of thing--so let me get this straight...we haven't had the draft yet, we've just finished most of the coaching carousel, and free agency is still anyone's guess. Yep, sounds like just the right time to start making up numbers about anybody's chances to wind up at the big dance! In other news, has anyone started mock drafting the class of 2020??

Semantics. Their run over the course of 20 years against the rest of the league in the playoffs removes doubt that their postseason success is bound up in the slacking of their AFCE rivals. Can't stand them with every fibre of my football being, and am ready to turn the tables on them. Allen has never had a full off-season as the annointed #1 here, so I'm expecting big things from him in 2019.

Does Brady finally hang it up now?
NoHuddleKelly12 replied to blacklabel's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Apart from the TD drive, I felt like Brady did a lot of un-Bradylike QB'ing last night...did BB purposely minimize the load on his shoulders? I know he'll always have sneaky old man game, and you can't show him anything he hasn't seen before, but I also can't remember a Pats SB where he was that ineffective when looking at the whole, which is unusual for him. That said, I'm out of the business of prognosticating when he will leave, when his physical prowess is leaving him, etc. I am left with simply hope that it will be sooner rather than later, and faith that Allen will be the single greatest factor in vaulting the Bills over top the Pats in the division in the very near future. Let us at least have that small crumb... -

Who's more overrated...goff or mcvay

Peter King's take this morning, anticipating the OP's very thread: "I think the performance has to be a crushing one for Goff and a humbling one for McVay. I put a lot more of the blame on Goff, because he’s got to make more plays than he did, and he took some sacks he shouldn’t have and just didn’t respond to the New England pressure as the game went on. But I wouldn’t worry much about either man. Goff had some shaky games down the stretch—Bears, Eagles and Patriots most notably. But he’s got the rare gift to forget when he stinks, like a great cornerback. McVay is too smart to be crushed by this. He won’t say it, but he needs his quarterback to be his general on the field and to make enough plays to keep his team in the game. He could have the best game plan he’d ever choreographed Sunday, but it the quarterback can’t execute it and make more plays, it would be for naught." https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/02/04/super-bowl-53-patriots-rams-nfl-fmia-peter-king/ -

Donuts, thanks as always for keeping it real. I am now all cleared up, and will learn to toe the company line better next time...it's our own fault that the Pats keep winning. Maybe if the Rams were coached by that new fella taking the league by storm, they would've showed up with some offense...I can't quite remember his name though? -

Great Job by Wade Phillips

Wade's D definitely kept the Rams in it until late, when it was more of an issue with being gassed up front IMHO, than scheme. -
Most Boring Super Bowl Ever?
NoHuddleKelly12 replied to /dev/null's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree with many upthread that watching a blowout is worse than what we got last night, but it was still bad because you knew despite how close it was, that the Pats would engineer a late drive against a gassed D line, to put it effectively out of reach as the Rams O was out of sync all night. -

Or, quite a bit could be chalked up to BB having his D ready to play lights out, and with a game plan to dare the Rams to beat them with the run, which almost never needed adjustment throughout the game as it turns out. Shades of XXV, where BB took away many of the Bills passing options and shut down one of the most prolific offenses in the NFL in the process. Maybe D still matters just a little bit? -
So this would be the obligatory “fire everyone” entry? It’s the closest to that I’ve seen so far.

How Does a Bills Win Affect Your Life?
NoHuddleKelly12 replied to Capco's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It’s like an extra bit of sunshine breaking through an otherwise cloudy day. I get back on the boards quicker and devour as much game coverage as I can get, because I enjoy reading positive hot takes as much as the next guy -
How Does a Bills Loss Affect Your Life?
NoHuddleKelly12 replied to Billsfanatic8989's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
During the SB years any loss would bother me for days, as they were so rare and I always felt like they were the best team out there most Sundays. Of course the drought weaned me of that expectation in a hurry. Also, I think getting older and starting a family all helped me put football in its proper perspective to keep me more grounded. Whether they win or lose won’t change the work I need to get done, bills I have to pay, or the love of my kids towards me, which is actually a good thing. That said, I have a feeling I would be on cloud 9 for a week if they can beat Brady straight up this year and Allen goes off. Will the Pats losing tomorrow bother you one bit? Looking for that to change this season bro! -

Just think how far we’ve come since Octoberish—had this news dropped then, can you imagine the calls on this board for our FO to pick him up? Myself included I’m sure. Now? Not really interested. -

Adding to that quandary is Beane's statement that they won't look to draft just for need over BPA, which would on the surface at least, indicate that the brain trust could go exactly as you describe in your question--just me personally, I feel like you can never have enough good prospects for depth on the line--we saw just how quickly unexpected injuries/retirements at that most vital of position groups can devastate that side of the ball. If OT is really rising and would not be a reach that early in the draft, then I'd probably be just fine with them taking one high. But this bears close watching as we get through FA. Don't really know if there's a right or wrong answer on this yet, Donuts.

Are there any other meet/greet opportunities left with some of our alumni prior to the SB around town?
